  1. oh man it was bad to watch, especially with the core concept that the Kelly's have done it hard on their way to the top. my favourite thing (reality tv) has just collided with my least favourite thing (racing). what a nasty crash
  2. thank god, after last week
  3. Hang on, you don't need a compliance plate on the car, if it was brought in under the 15 year rule it was not complied and therefore does not need a compliance plate. It also would not have a compliance plate if it is a personal import Have you talked to the RTA? Also talk to DOTARS and get a copy of the import approval, that will help convince whoever has to rego it. I would say though, it is very possible it will require a blueslip. It should not require an engineer's report. Finally, have a talk to someone like Todd at Japlink and see what they suggest.
  4. good to see some real competition between the cars this time, F1 is getting dangerously close to being entertaining! I saw a lot of Ricciardo on the screen as well which was great.
  5. See ya'll at 10 in Penriff....bring a jacket
  6. Saw it and approved it this morning....knock yourself out
  7. I don't really agree with that. It's better to have the right, cheap tool to use, than the wrong, expensive tool because you can't afford the right one. Other than the basic sockets and spanners, which are wroth buying good ones to save your knuckles if they break
  8. my thoughts....these days you can get as good or better tyres from the less known brands much cheaper. Personally I run the 595SS Federals (and haven't found them noisey), I'd also look at falken fk452. Or generally, the top tyre in the range from any of the cheaper brands, they are a very good price/performance compromise because they can't change the top brand premium.
  9. hq racing is some of the best around. It's jsut a shame there are no straight replacement panels for hqs any more, they are going easy these days. And like I said, any car is quick enough to kill....we took a pulsar off the clock in the NT
  10. I bought my rb26 replacement through nissan parts
  11. does the car idle OK, or is there lots of black smoke. 9 times out of 10 this sort of problem is caused by a major boost leak. Unfortunately the other time out of 10 it is caused by loosing the compressor wheel off your turbo Do you know what the maximum boost it hit was?
  12. good to hear the log book is sorted
  13. Also, as asked earlier....is it making the expected power for 20o at 8o? This is another clue the base timing is out.
  14. why not check the cool tools thread
  15. wow...you guys that get pulled up and get away with it all the time are lucky. Kurtly Beale went to court today for this: http://www.smh.com.au/rugby-union/union-news/kurtley-beale-car-charge-thrown-out-20110720-1hnxp.html BTW, my 2c is this law is rubbish. every car has enough power to kill you
  16. That is a perfectly normal compression, or a tiny bit high if it has had no run in. You need to look at simple things liek base timing and cam timing before pulling the motor out.
  17. Interesting point there...how many 4wd cars are running regularly under those rules? I spoke to the organisers when those rules were initially implemented - the clear aim is to ensure a 4wd can't be competitive with the v8 dinosaur engined cars. It was a very token effort for those rules and I'm sure they are happy no-one has bothered trying to build a serious car to them
  18. And Noel...don't forget "Time Attack" means something to you banana benders that is different to the rest of the country
  19. absolutely, irs a shame more of the 3D cars don't take supersprints like the World Time Attck Challenge ™ more seriously. They could run 2-3 sec quicker on the right tyres for sure. Remember lap records like "low 29s" only count when set in race setup, during a race. Not a single lap with no fuel on super cheater tyres.
  20. Tas rally again next weekend.....have you guys sorted some snow?
  21. 3 wins Terry.....my Stagea has a TV for up to 5 people that can't live without the final
  22. that 6l rule was relaxed for the turbo foulcans in prod cars. I guess it doesn't matter too much at standard boost lol. sorry no idea about the 3d rules
