  1. Sounds good...we'll be along to see if the Cube can make it up the hills
  2. Take it easy and you will be fine - stay away from long jumps through the air The top nuts just hold the shock from falling out at full droop...as long as there is load on the wheel gravity will keep it in place. When you get to repco or wherever, take off another one to check back - there are multiple "thread pitches" even in the same sized nut. If you get the wrong pitch it will go very tight after about a turn.
  3. haha probably! Was enjoying an empty Victoria road....I must drive it at 11pm instead of midnight more often
  4. Well I don't agree with the rules, as I've stated before...but the car in that spec is legal.
  5. Ron (and everyone!) we will discuss alternative dates at the exec meeting tomorrow night and come back to everyone ASAP.
  6. Agreed Bob, and the committee will take up our concerns about communication with WSID. Plenty of hard work from the comittee is wasted, and no doubt lots of competitors will have plans messed up to. No doubt some people are financially impacted by the late cancellation. Unfortunately we have 0 alternatives to deal with on Drag events. And track events aren't that different these days...there are 2 possibilities in NSW and Eastern Creek (also government owned and a "service" to NSW Taxpayers) was over $18k per day to hire. However, our club's members want these events, and we will keep working professionally with the venue operators to deliver them as best we can. We are also actively working on "alternative", non-traditional locations to run our motorkhanas, track days and sprints because of the difficulties in booking and dealing with venues.
  7. hahah you obviously know pete! Steve has always been very helpful, he gave Mark and I heaps of advice when we were first building our cars about 7 years ago. It's definately a passion not a business for him, and he also supports pretty much every person running a skyline in targa with advice/cheap parts/support at the rally etc. Great bloke. And Kel is Kel. Navigator extroadinaire....but she has bitches to prepare cars for her
  8. haha depends if you want good advice or not. Steve at Just Jap has always been super helpful, and is across the regs as they keep changing. Pete (Fatz) is in the lower blue mountains as well, but his car hasn't turned a wheel yet. I can help where possible (although it's been a few years), and Kel does pretty much every rally (tarmac and gravel)
  9. Well, it seems you guys were getting better communication than the organisers. We received the following email this afternoon from WSID: --------------------------------------------- Duncan, I regret to advise that we are forced to postpone your track hire scheduled for this Saturday, July 9, 2011. I sincerely apologise for this late notice. Despite our optimism and the best efforts of all involved, who are still working now, the track surface works remain behind schedule with final profiling yet to be completed. I also offer a sincere personal apology for the inconvenience and disappointment this will no doubt cause your club members – and of course yourself and other organisers that have worked hard to put everything in place. Eventually, despite understandable frustration, I hope you will all agree that it would not be acceptable, nor appropriate, to proceed before we can confidently offer the best possible conditions. Duncan, I can only offer my genuine apology and trust that you and your members will accept that the decision is in the best interests of everyone concerned. I will await your instruction and once again offer this apology on behalf of the venue. Kind Regards, John Henman Administration and Operations Manager SYDNEY DRAGWAY ------------------------------- We are disappointed that at no time did WSID suggest this event may not be possible, and that we had no warning until this afternoon of the cancellation. However, we will organise this event for the first available date WSID offer us. In the meantime, anyone who does not want to carry their entry across to the new date, please let Aggroman know. Good news for those that needed more time to get their cars ready
  10. Just a quick clarification because the first post is a little contradictory. This cruise is not an official SAU:NSW cruise organised via the club and with CAMS insurance, but rather a privately organised cruise. The official SAU:NSW cruise will be on later in the year, in the meantime our next official cruise is late July, a thread will be posted in the next few days Have a good day out
  11. Yep...the best thing to do is to change to 17x9, eg 33 GTR wheels. Plenty of reasonably size semi slicks, and decent sized brakes will fit under them. Then buy ksport/g4/d2 etc 330mm brakes to fit under them. That will keep you in relatively cheap tyres and brakes up to a reasonable level of power mods
  12. Thanks Kenny. Guys, WSID require entries to close tomorrow....so anyone still considering get your details to AggroDave straight away!
  13. Personally I'd love to see him make the next step (ie out of a shitter and into a top 10 car). But unfortunately it is probably as big a step as getting a start in the first place. Far too much luck involved...always has been. BTW Liuzzi is no hack, and I'm not convinced Karthekeyan was either. Put anyone in a shitter and they will have a hard time too
  14. really? BTW I do get lots of email notifications....but I also 100% definately miss some.
  15. What was the price? I'm willing to bet there is no reasonably priced commercial option....
  16. Deano45....good to hear No, WSID require a complete list of entrants by noon Tuesday. Make sure Dave has your entry by then, we cannot change these rules. There are still spots available...so for those considering entering, get your details in ASAP!
  17. so you have nissan volts to motec volts, and motec volts to actual G? should be easy to map out, I'll remember to bug you about it
  18. I am 99% sure Justjap don't have new boxes in stock any more (although feel free to check!), I bought one from them a few years back, but I understood whole new boxes can't be sourced any more. The rebuild I did since then I just put new synchros and bearings in a second hand box, it came up as good as the new one.
  19. Would love any data on this too. My g sensor is wired into my data logger, and any calibration data would be helpful
  20. This event is absolutely going forward, and it's going to be great There are about 15 spots remaining until we are full, but WSID require us to cut off entries after this weekend. So get in quickly!
  21. yeah agreed.....I've often run directional race tyres on the wrong side in the dry, there was no noticeable performance difference. But in the wet they must run in the right direction
  22. Just don't give away how it ends!
  23. WRC have been running turbos for years....they cost $50k+ each retail. Haven't seen many of them on road cars.
  24. just fitting coilovers now. should be ready shortly
