Scooby...what was the outcome for you? I had my car on the dyno today, very standard motor with a nissan timing belt and CAS. no timing cover because I was setting the CAM gears. This is the trace of RPM from datalogit: Have a good look at the trace in yellow. it goes from 7700 to 8000 revs instantly and incorrectly. Now this is not a big deal, it is only moving between 2 cells in the tune so I just worked on an even, broad range in those cells. I watched the timing belt during the dyno run. There were 3 distinct times that the belt was visibly vibrating, and 2 times in between in ran smoothly. Here is a zoomed out version of the same run from 3000 to 8000 so....this seems very reasonable to me. Just because not all tuners pick up on...doesn't mean there is no problem. And does it prevent you tuning? Probably not in most cases....it just introduces innaccuracy.

yeah they were talking about axing the taxpayer 500 and putting the money to EC instead. good and bad to me. The ARDC president was perfectly clear about that at the CAMS club forum we went to. We really need another track in NSW, I'm surprised no-one can make the numbers stand up. We paid $8,400 to hire wakefield last week. $8,400 * say 350 days a year is about $3M a year income. Eastern Creek is about $20k to hire for the day, so $7M a year. Don't tell me no-one can make a profit on a track with those numbers.....

Ben most of the adjustable kits come with bolts because they are designed of the offset bushes that provide adjustment. Standard replacements like the noltec ones you mention are the standard size but harder so factory bolts are fine. My guess is any kits that require bolts come with them. As for whether you need adjustable.....only if you want different camber to what you have....

well the hicas light is probably because your steering wheel is not on straight. Do you have an aftermarket one, or have you had a wheel alignment lately? THere is a sensor in the wheel for HICAS, when the wheel is crooked it thinks you are driving in circles so it throws the error light. BTW I have no idea what you mean by the 2nd bit

Eric, you should talk to Chris at MX5 Racing about wrecking it, you have his details. They would appreciate a straight front end for a change....not many cars end up with damaged rears.... I know they have at least one car to replace from the big crash Kel was in last year.

actually, I'd expect the upper arms with cheap bearings to last even worse on the street, than they do on the track. they have bad clearances in the bearings to start, then get a bit dirty, gets worse pretty quickly. rose joints are really designed for track work with regular inspection and replacement

umm you can't change your tyre if you get a flat? my suggestion....get a set of metric an imperial impact sockets. bash the ones that just fit on hard, then undo it. throw the lock nut in the bin and repeat 19 times. put normal wheel nuts on, or locknuts you have a key for. or just throw your spare tyre and jack out. no point lugging it around.

OMG benm has an impostor! I would start by looking for a boost leak, especially if it is not idling properly. there are lots of vacuum hoses and a single split could cause an issue.

you replaced the rack....did you try replacing the pump? sounds like it is dying and pushing variable amounts of pressure

are you certain you are checking for flow at the right fuel hose? you need the one that does not connect to the fuel pressure regulator, ie the one with the filter in it. where are you disconnecting the fuel hose to check?

when you say knonck...do you mean on the powerFC or a regular noise from the engine directly? If its the former just get it to a workshop, if its the latter start saving

mine snapped due to an oil pressure problem. you would expect lots of other things to fail first but that wasn't the case this time.

looks pretty healthy to me for a 100000klm car. Missfire could be a lot of things, but most of all it is a chance to bargain the price down. whatever it is, it is probably not expensive or internal.

yeah a great piece of road, very quick a hillclimb, it is up to 3 lanes wide in places. unfortunately I can't be there, got my weekends wrong, this clashes with the state champs at eastern creek. good luck aza!

yeah mate, it was and by a long way, about 1 sec I guess the new track is quicker and those tyres are great. sid....put your bloody name in your profile or I will call you speedwhore for ever! Almost certainly just a bad batch of fuel, even so I would get yavuz to take a little timing out of the midrange for safety. Octane booster does very little....each bottle is 0.1 of an octane rating, so 1 bottle in a tank of 98 only gives you 98.1.....
