  1. sorry mate....anything with little gears that go round and round I give to someone to fix. So diffs are out of my abilities as are gearboxes and xfer cases. this is what i did: 1. remove diff and take to diff shop 2. tell them "This diff is not tight enough, I want this to clunk when it goes around corners" 3. come back 2 days later and give them $400 4. put it back in car and love it. so no idea of the exact shims, number, type or thickness. but the guys certainly knew what I was talking about and delivered exactly what I wanted.
  2. thats all cool, and I often buy stuff I can wait for os as well when I'm in no rush. Just understand that if you order the wrong injectors you will be paying twice! And any mistake will take ages to sort out if yuo have to send stuff back. Don't see what they have done wrong there? You paid in yen, you got refunded in yen. Would you be calling them shady if they exchange rate went up in between? Or are you saying it was Nengun's fault that Trust went broke
  3. pretty sad day today....but it was great to see such a big turn out including from on here. The church was literally full. Sheri, I guess we will see you on Monday
  4. depends really....if you want big power from your fuel e85 is a no brainer. but if you would still like to move around quickly but spend less on fuel, LPG is very do-able. Mark has had his lpg gtr running now for 12 months although I think he never updated the thread....probably got sick of people telling him it could never work, so he just did it.... http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Lp...html&hl=lpg
  5. not only can you do the mechanical centres...they come up much better than the lsd centres. i run a shimmed factory diff in my race car I vcan't think of any reason to buy a mechanical 2 way centre for a gtr...what they have does the job perfectly. 1 or 1.5 way centres are better of course but that is a different discussion
  6. that reminds me of the testing a guy in the states did for his front splitter.....no good trying for 200kg downforce if it can't hold 200kg
  7. that....is a VERY selfish attitude. WTF? I want free forums full of good information where I can read, post and download as much as I want while someone else pays for it!
  8. Ferds owns that car now, and AFAIK the IPRA car is still for sale. Dave the car looks great and I suspect more has been developed there than just a paint job. You guys have been leaders in racing skylines in Australia for years including state and national titles where everyone said it could not be done.....I'd love to see you make a big impact on this event too. All the best, my $2 are on you guys
  9. haha get stuffed both of you good to see the times tumbling Stu....I'm sure it has a couple more seconds over the next 12 months with more development which makes this about the quickest GTST going around
  10. no matter how good the o/s drivers are, a day or 2 practice at EC will be a second, and 5-10 years practice at EC is another second. As I said earlier I am really surprised they are not out practicing all the time given the amount of money invested in the cars and getting them here. the interesting thing about this year is we know or can make good educated guessesabout how quick the local cars will go because they have lots of recorded lap times to check.....
  11. very surprised it didn't fit - every skyline brake bit I've put on mine bolted straight on....I've run gtr front and rear brakes on it now? what was the problem, did the adapter hit on something? Either way Im sure UAS will refund.
  12. For those who aren't already aware, Christian (PranK, forum owner), and his wife Bec had a baby girl on the weekend! By all accounts, thankfully, she doesn't look anything like Christian Congrats from us and bananaman!
  13. Ahhh I see what you mean, I just got hit with the Lewis Homo ad by accidently waving my mouse near the top corner.....and the reply page did not finishing loading until the ad finished. As Ash said I'm suspect Christian is not aware of or did not agree to such intrusive ads, but it may still take more than a day or 2 to action BTW Mr Wooster....you have dribbled enough on these pages that its time for you to donate once the facility is back up and running
  14. yeah for the handbrake, inside the rear disc. seriously, try nissan. you may be surprised, particularly if it shares with a local car.
  15. Paul couldn't possibly quote a sell price on here, because of course he is not a trader I guess he's just bought a lot of them for himself.
  16. lead acid battery often won't survive being dead flat - its possible it just won't hold a charge again. I've lost a few over the years by leaving them dead for too long. dry cell batteries handle this sort of thing pretty easy
  17. fear not...its all interchangeable. the internal changes were only in s3 r33 (other than push vs pull) but thats about it.
  18. gtr brakes on the rear of mine now. easier than finding factory replacements....
  19. Semis or not, I reckon if the open cars aren't down to super car times (ie 1.32) there has been a shitload of money wasted! remember the taxis run small slicks And I've got to say again, I am amazed how little track time the international drivers have done, even the best drivers will not do their best laps straight up.
  20. It will be a problem if it is CAMS only, unless they run the event for us. We do not have the required trained CAMS officials (CoC, Stewards, Flaggies) to run an event like this on our own.
  21. lol Ash is posessing Steve-o! Anyway.... Yes people buy from them every day Every week or 2 someone starts a thread about them taking too long. expect 4-6 weeks like they say They are cheap Expect little to no warranty or support - so make sure you order the right thing, or the price won't look so cheap. If you want the right thing, today, support a local business
  22. I;ve only changed the drums once, and that was froma reakly old and fcuked hub. They are the same as most other drum shoe replacement jobs....fiddly but not hard. If you haven't done them before just keep careful track of the direction of pins and clips and the order you take them off. Remember to adjust them after the disc is back on so that they don't quite touch with the handbrake off. Its a good opportunity to back off the adjuster in the cabin and take the slack with the adjuster on the cables under the car. BTW why buy aftermarket drum shoes? standard ones are perfectly capable of holding (or if necessary locking) the rears when adjusted properly.
  23. lol flux capacitors.....one day mine will see the sunlight again. stay away from the cheap willwood callipers they are poor quality and flex like crazy. obviously their expensive stuff is as good as anyone else's expensive stuff. the only brakes i would spend money on for a budget build are the ksport/d2/g4/whatever 8 piston ones. I have 3 sets of them on different cars, they are excellent
  24. thanks for the details Trent...have just been trying to work out the best floor. ANything needed to maintain it once it is down? BTW +1 for tyre racks...take up very little space but free up heaps. I have 13 tyres on my verandah and 4 more at Neil's place.....
  25. yay for chinese junk works damn fine on my rb30
