  1. mate you've got one of the best cars ever built, please don't put basic tyres under it. even worse, don't put rubbish tyes under it then spend money on mods for power/handling/brakes. Remember every single $$ you spend on that stuff gets transmitted through whatever tyres you fit. For between 250 and 400 a tyre (ie no more than $1600), you can make your car handle brilliantly without changing anything else If you are looking for good value performance tyres check out falken fk 452, federal 595S or kumho ku36. All very good value for money and some of the best ways you can improve your car.
  2. what are your wheel alignment settings (toe, camber, castor, ride height - front and rear) and what is it specifically about the handling that you want to improve (ie does it understeer, oversteer, and where: corner entry, mid corner or corner exit)? Also what tyres are you running, how new, and what pressures do you run them at? I know, lots of questions but it can help narrow things down. Also, have you had much driver training/advice? Its funny how often approach to a corner makes a difference to the problems you are having
  3. yeah we were a bit short on stageas this time....next one will be on a 4wd dyno to make it easier
  4. Big thanks to Steve and Nick for getting this together and keeping it all running smoothly, unfortunately I had to disappear early.
  5. did you end up sorting this? it should have coolant come out once it is up to temp and pressure when it is bled correctly. if a normal bleed is not working, make sure the front of the car is raised a little (on stands/jack if necessary), take soft drink bottle with the botton cut off and wrap the kneck in electrical or similar tape so it is a snug fit in the radiator neck. fill the bottle with coolant (ie the level in the bottle is the highest point coolant can get to. if everything is working OK coolant should come pouring out the bleeder straight away. If not something is blocked
  6. btw duncan you should get one of those harness bars from the other thread....looks like your belts are at more than 45o angle not good considering how quick you are going....
  7. now THAT is a different argument!!! I'd say that the R32 GTR was far superior compared to the cars of the day compared to the R35 which introduces little if nothing new, and just adds cubes to try and make up for the weight. certainly not overengineered the way the r32 was as demonstrated by their chronic unreliability in tarmac rallies
  8. Hi Adam, I am pretty confident that fixed means fixed in relation to the body, not just that it can't fall off.....these rules have been in place a long time and active aero is not a new idea good to hear, I would hate to see it impact the champioship You might be surprised about how little quicker other cars can go through there, it very quickly becomes a question of outright grip and the weight of the car. Anything over 1200kg is likely to have comparable speeds through there, and that includes up to supercars (I do not know their exact speeds, but not much over 200, ie within 10% of your speed). Of course a sports sedan with full aero and 800kg carries a few km more and I guess the formula cars are running up to 240 though there. I doubt it has much if anything to do with your commitment in the turn. Very strong top speed btw considering how stock it is.
  9. as far as i can see, that's their issue not yours. you can go to whoever you want. no doubt at all assuming you have comp insurance, and it should be the same even if you are not insured
  10. fair enough, I think that will be required. Schedule F of General Requirements says: "Any specific part of the automobile which has an aerodynamic influence on the stability of the automobile must be mounted on the entirely sprung part of the car and shall be firmly fixed whilst the automobile is in motion." So active aero is not legal at any CAMS event including the sprint this sunday, or superlap for that matter. Hopefully the scruits will allow it through and no-one will protest the results, would be a sad way to lose.
  11. hey andrew there should be a few of us out there....neil, lsx-438, gtr-32g, and the silvia who's nick I can't think of atm were all at the last round. good so see so many people from here competing. are you all ready to go?
  12. oh btw I love the things....wish we were allowed to use them. not just this but I could think of a few places where active aero or active suspension would be great
  13. sorry, can't post copyright material on here editted
  14. I have a question.....you know moveable aero devices are banned by cams right? if you bring it on sunday hopefully you will be ok.....but bring the standard one as well
  15. for what its worth, I would not change my S1 C34 for any other model rb30 with highmount turbo 3" zorst with highflow cat front mount intercooler power fc manual twin sunroof leather interior big towbar cruise control dvd/tv bilstein shocks/eibach springs/whiteline sway bars federal 595ss tyres 8 piston g4 front brakes
  16. so....did they cancel the stagea after the M35 because they could not improve on perfection......or because they didn't want to chance making the same sort of mistake again?
  17. lol family bbq days are great....kids are really tender....nom nom.
  18. lol only in the stagea section could this stay on topic and not turn into personal attacks. next you lot are going to organise a family bbq day
  19. this thread delivers. nothing. locked.
  20. greddy profec b has a 2 stages (hi/lo) plus off (wastegate pressure) plus an overboost warning and overboost cut. sounds like all most people would require....guess it depends what you mean by all going to shit. if you are trying to minimise motor damage when something goes really wrong cutting boost won't do - you need to stop the motor. we use an oil pressure switch in the wire that earths the coils.
  21. good work breaking that one! I've seen plenty of main rear seal bolts stripped but normally the ones from the sump where they thread into the alloy rear seal housing. Anyway I'd probably leave it, if it leaks like a bastard some how (unlikely) you can always take the flywheel off and get to it in the car I guess you weren't using a torque wrench...these are only m6 bolts right?
  22. I wish your mate was my mate swiper
  23. oh yeah should have said....it sounds like a gnome hammering on your crank...not a card in the spokes if you want to be sure and have no rush you could get the oil analysed, will tell you for sure if you have a bearing issue
