no way mate....you need to post up vids either way good luck for the first outing.
-
who is racing? radicals? utes? minis? gts?
-
don't bother mate, plastic windows are dead easy to form on top of the standard window with a heat gun. you cut a rough shape, then lay the plastic on the standard window, heat until it shapes onto the standard one then mark and cut to fit. yes they end up out of shape by the width of the plastic but it should be no real impact for race car use (ie not a show car seal) 3mm or 4mm for framed windows like rear and 6mm for frameless if you want them to go up and down and seal(ish). You may have seen pics of Mark Berry's old 32 with too thin plastic flapping around in frameless doors we went a little different and added ally frames to use 3mm plastic, was lighter all up. but fixed windows like rear 1/4 are dead easy.

Planning To Change The 3 Guages In Center Cluster To Mechanical In R34 Gtt
Duncan replied to maddowse's topic in Fabrication
just to check - you don't mean mechanical gauge as in....the oil line runs right to the back of the gauge right? I think that would be a very bad idea inside the cabin. If you mean the type that has an electric sender at the motor sending a signal to the gauge....forget I mentioned -
the good news is you do have the plug....its only the wiring to the plug that is missing! no idea what it is, its plugged into the throttle body but it can't be the throttle position sensor unless your car runs horribly or not at all

Want To Race - What Are My Options
Duncan replied to stomper's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
hmm -1 for superlap but we can discuss elsewhere I guess - seems like very poor value and very low chance of a good result without spending in the hundreds of thousands. might be worth going to watch if you are OK with the 60 per person admission price anyway.....other than that....depends what you are looking for in "racing". If you haven't done any supersprints you need to get out there asap and try a few. the one on last weekend had about 14 cars on the track, released 2 at a time. You aren't really meant to "race" each other, the goal is the quickest single lap. But it does give you a good idea of going around close to other cars. If you want to race race it depends on where you sit in the "having fun" to "I am the next shumaker" scale. At the having fun end you should start with MRA who run race meets under AASA at wakefield (don't think they do EC). They are cheap, open rules and have a class for skylines (combined sedans). There are a few guys on here building MRA style cars at the moment like Ryan (BOZ22N) and Andrew (zebra), both have 33 gtst, and Chris (evil_weevil) is racing here too in an mx5. Also I think Stu (bezerkr32) is intending on running his v8 r32 gtst here. From there irace muscle class is the next place to go, I have run with them once at the start of the year and was pretty happy. A bit more expensive and a bit more serious. Greg (stretch), Stu (R32 Stuart), Brad (Risking) run in this regularly. If you want to get into the serious side of racing you need to get into the CAMS NSW champs. There are 5 rounds this year and the first one is at Eastern Creek so head along and have a look (and a chat to competitors) if you are thinking about going this way. But keep in mind there are lots of rules and very serious competitors (spending 000,000s of dollars in sports sedans and race cars. Even some of the production car guys are spending 80-100k to build cars now. In cams you have 4 choices: 3E - Production Cars. Basically no mods allowed, certainly not rb30. So not a great choice for your car. This is where I race. 3J - Improved production. Hate anything younger than 1986. They have a specific rule for turbo cars to make sure they can't be competitive - you need to run a 36mm restrictor in the intake - this will very effectively limit every turbo car to 350hp/250kw (at the motor!). 1 turbo car won the series about 5 years ago but it cost them a fortune. 3D - Sports Sedans. Definately an option as long as you don't expect to win outright. There are basically no restictions on what a 2wd car can do, but as a result the front running cars are full space frame 6l chevs with tricky aero and enourmous tyres. these guys are quicker than v8 supertaxis and spend as much. There are different rules for 4wd and I am (slowly) building a car to these but they are more restrictive (eg must retain full factory chasis, must retain standard block). Dave (lofty) has a spectacular 32 gtr that is racing in this (same car that won IPRA a few years back, upspecced) 2F - Production Sports cars. I don't really know these guys but they may be the best option for a 33 gtst. They call it "production" sports but there are significant mods allowed. You should talk to the PSCA to understand more. Stuart (Noddy) runs his 33 gtst under 2F in QLD. no 4wd but that doesn't matter to you I guess cams regs are here http://www.camsmanual.com.au/02_race.asp but I found them hard to understand until I had spoken to a few people in each category so I would suggest that first -
yep he is open saturdays....very early starter too
-
mebbe....mebbe not....they are running standard motors like me just zorst and a tune. explains why they don't get away.
-
hahha good to see you had time to grab the windscreen wipers during the off that little hose is the one neil got to do on my car the other day....its a barrell of laughs apparently
-
218rwkw eh? well that clears up a real mystery to me....always wondered why my car could keep up with the 6l commodores in production cars....now I know...
-
yes you! how damn soft have you got since moving to mexico....you haven't crashed a car or set one on fire for ages!
-
yeah i could see you having brake trouble at turn 9.....looked like you had some interesting "moments"
-
I thought stroked *is* "targa spec" for evos!
-
pretty sure that point won't be an issue - they say the car has to be registered, not registerable Certainly slicks are not allowed on the road but are fine to swap onto at the track. Given that Duncan got written permission beforehand the most likely way it will go if a protest is upheld is that it can't be used at future rounds which is much better than losing all the points from this rounds. On the wing itself, I got to have a good watch and the range it moves through is pretty impressive and I guess turn 1 at Eastern Creek is a good example of where it would help - long fast straight where it sits very flat into braking into a high speed corner. Not sure how much it would help at many other turns there except 8, a lot of them are under 100klm which is where I understood wings start to really come on. And like Martin, I would have thought that some extra downforce at the front would have been a big help for these cars - does it feel unstable at the rear at speed (not under power of course) or does it tend to wash/understeer off the track?
-
sounds like the right spot - around the driver's side strut tower and it will have 1 fuel line in from the rear of the car, and another line out to the fuel rail. I'm no nissan parts guru but I got the following part number for r34 gtt 16400-41B05. If you want to send me your actual VIN# I can double check.
-
haha yeah....i sat through a 1hr argument about 1cc in head chamber size in 6l commodores the other night....I'm sure they would love to discuss a t51!
-
lol thinking same....is this the first 1000hp circuit car???

There are so many people on here running that this deserves it's own thread. Round 2 was run today, and the SAU class was won by Duncan(LSX-438). Full results are here: http://www.natsoft.com.au/cgi-bin/results....03/2010.ARDC.S1 Other entrants in SAU class from the very large 113 car field: 2 1 Duncan Forrest ARDC Nissan GTR 3800 4D 9 2 1:41.0871 0:10.6473 6 112 Stuart Inwood LDCC Nissan GTR R33 4366 SVD 18 11 1:43.0491 0:12.6093 12 41 Neil De Pau ARDC Radical 1298 5D 17 17 1:46.7807 0:16.3409 27 551 Mark Smith ARDC Nissan Silvia 1998T 4D 19 3 1:49.5123 0:19.0725 31 55 Brian Bugh NSWRRC Mazda R100 2616 4C 18 16 1:51.1492 0:20.7094 also special mention to these guys who *should* be on here: 46 310 Nicholas Larcos ARDC Nissan Skyline 2800 3C 19 7 1:53.9150 0:23.4752 67 114 Brock Heydon MINI CAR CLUB Nissan Skyline 1998T 2D 11 6 2:00.1461 0:29.7063 Brock probably thinks I am a wierd stalker for giving him the thumbs up at top ryde when I passed him on the way home. speaking to Duncan he was very happy with how the car was running. Stu had missfire troubles and was not having much luck going faster (sounds to me like time for new tyres). Neil had a prick of a day with motor problems but at least all of the gears were in there this time unlike Oran Park. Looked like Brian was coming to terms with the new car and going OK Sorry if I forgot anyone on here!

interesting, the rally guys that have tried aftermarket stuff have all ended up going back to standard suspension for predicability - you have to give the Nissan engineers credit for staying so far ahead. when you say standard alignment...what is that specifically (camber/toe/castor) or have you never had it aligned?
