  1. Holy FAWK! She'll be quick across the top of Cethana without that chicane! Without the chicane (for those who don't know), it'll read somethin like; 200 metres into eight right, 350 to nine right, 600 to ten right, (now doing, oh, 300klm/h!), 600m into 9 right over crest 250 to left 6 off camber tightens..... LOL. I wanna go!!!!!!
  2. A $400 RB20 would solve all this pain......... But seriously, thats rotten mate, I've been there before and know your pain!
  3. ^^^^^ Listen to Harry. He knows.
  4. lol, yes there's lots of cheap fwd cars suitable for tracking, we're currently messing around with a '93 Trueno 20V which I think once we drop and stiffen it will be great. The Excels are already owing most Queensland campaigners 3-5k which I think is far too much. Our Trueno owes well under 4k, registered, seat, harness, tyres, pads, etc.
  5. lol, great post Warps but I have to qualify the "some are flogging Skylines at Lakeside" bit..... they're only faster than the WORST driven Skylines you've ever seen.
  6. Thats right on the money I reckon mate. Looks great!
  7. Wow, someone paid far too much for a wart! I had someone look at it for me but yes, not a nice example with many questions hanging over its head.
  8. We might even find some time to check the brakes
  9. Giddyup!!!! For those whom cannot be bothered to Google the Tenga Eggs that I've ordered for the SAU crew to enjoy on the hill whilst we imagine drinking beers. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_i6kWbdTvjk...&playnext=1
  10. No one knows where anyone came except for first anyway, so it's a mute point imo. There's always been a bazillion classes in it, so there will always be something for everyone to win. The event was much much more exciting before the cost limit came in, but I still think it preferable if the cars were production based rather than race cars, but in reality that would just double the expence of fielding a top level car.
  11. The common belief that the overseas guys are used to running on billiard smooth tracks is a falicy. Whilst the Japanese guys typically DO have very smooth tracks, the typical US track used for Time attack are like goat tracks. Eastern Creek is somewhere in between in my opinion. I expect the US guys to be the strongest. And I wouldn't rule out a 2WD car either. And you're totally right Leif, there's other guys flying the Aussie flag too, and I'm wondering how they're going with their prep. Edit to try and answer your direct question Leif: Yes the 34 does have massive potential, but in reality it's a little short on power to weight ratio and rubber width at the moment. Now the 4WD is kind of half working, it at least bettered it's previous best QR time even running a massively compromised spring and damper setting that was a hangover from our trying to mask the 2WD issue. Suspension is being revisted now with a good middle ground being the aim.
  12. The car has sponsor's names on the side of it, meaning they helped out. The car is entered in Pro class for Superlap, a class that is for "workshops" and pros. If the car didn't have sponsor names on the side of it, it could just as easily be in Open class. And yes, the same troubles are still a concern now as they were at last year's Superlap, the major issue is time, time to work on the car, time to test, the car is not looked after by a workshop, everything that gets done on it, Mark or we do. I heard the Porsche guys talking about the car after is smashed them at Bathurst in November, they were all saying "yeah but it should be quick it owes $***,***". Well, it doesn't.
  13. Whats your budget estimate for the completed cost mate?
  14. Yeah I've offered the same, get one of my mate's to drag it up for him. Your idea is a ripper though.
  15. Hey Linton, I'd think you'd be suprised to know how much this car didn't cost. Assumptions are dangerous and your statement re "the bodykit and aero alone cost more than i care to think of." shows you know zero. Nothing. Nada. Zip. I concurr (as does Mark) that the car is behaving ugly as sin. That's why he works until 2am every night after work on it in his back shed measuring 10 x 6 metres. And at no point has Mark himself claimed he's going to kick anyone's butt, he's a very humble guy, and knows just how quick these overseas cars are. Heck, every time we talk about them his eyes light up like a school kids with amazement. As for the video "that video should never have been posted", well, that's not up to Mark, thats a sponsor's decision. The sponsors of the event need to summon some interest for the event somehow. Would you have prefered static pictures of Eastern Creek's grandstands? I'm certain other teams entered and present at the event will not have the same dim witted outlook of Mark's car that this particular Speadhunters drongo does.
  16. Gee Zuz that quote about is a wild rant! I wonder where he got the idea that Berry is somehow cocky of a win? Because I can absolute assure you, he's far from it! In fact, we know we need to find seconds, not tenths, to compete with the fast guys. Having only just got some form of 4WD in the car it's now a rush to get it programmed correctly, and to get Hollywood's crashed 32 back together for him to fly in and enjoy. I'd like to smack the quote guy right in the mouth.
  17. If that is true, (the court injunction), Dunc's totally right, that's disgusting and pathetic.
  18. Sure Dunc, understand there may have been some over-reaction (I don't know, I wasn't there), but there is quite a difference to between coming across a crashed car and one that is being deliberatly driven against the direction of traffic. I don't even know if the Emo was running, he may have had a full view of Weeks coming up the road and was simply trying to roll it down hill to a safer spot? As always, there's two sides to a good story
  19. What, so he has like, five toys?
  20. 80k was just a wild stab in the dark (it's likely more!), I haven't actually spoken to Deano about it. I based it on the sums for three people we did to run the 2007? ex Denyer STi and added about 40% for the cock car. The biggest issue is, you spend your money up front, the money's gone, and you may not get a drive if the car breaks or is involved in a prang before you get in. I'm of the understanding that a lot of the "teams" that run these multi driver enduros also require a driver to contribute up front to a "write off/repair fund", meaning that no matter who is driving, if the car is damaged or written off, every team member pays. If there's no damage, you get the "deposit" back. So you really need to trust your co-drivers and everyone around you! lol Kind of takes the sheen off running an event like that for me, far far far too rich for this lil black duck. And I don't yet have false teeth.
  21. I've got a fiver on the Tele-Tubby to place in pro class. Only a fiver though
  22. Getting a drive is the easy bit mate. Finding the spare 80k is a little harder.
  23. That post, has me thoroughly confused.
  24. Ok maybe calling it "inspired" was a little strong, but he was holding position on Inters, and if what you say is true he still chose to run with slicks. Given the conditions and radar I reckon many would have gone on a new set of Inters as it was still predominantly wet. Everything has a little bit of luck thrown in, but in lots of categories I can remember the guy who bites the bullet and gets onto slicks first is nearly always rewarded.
  25. I think it's replayed on ONE HD tonight? I think both Jenson and Lewi are fairly equally popular, but I also think the concensus is that Lewis is the faster of the two, while Jenson is the better "bloke". For me is was great to see JB awarded for good strategy and being ultra smooth (kinda like myself ), and I was on the edge of my seat watching Hamilton who was clearly pissed off and driving right on the limit. The kid has remarkable car control.
