  1. i think there's something in what you suggest, plenty of successful sailors have done well in motorsport. I know several of the really good Targa blokesa re keen sailors
  2. Catty bitches aint ya!
  3. I completely agree with you. I too am an ex state level competetive sailor, from Sabot to Hobie 16's. I think its much easier to spot illegal things on boats compares to engine powered cars. I've always maintained that the rule bending only cheats yourself, so why bother, plus its just not worth the added stress of being caught nor the worry about keeping it hush. Too hard IMO. Obviously though, plenty of people enjoy cheating, and see winning as much more important that competing within the rules and sprt's spirit.
  4. I understand they got out of the sport (and assume this was purchased around then?) and know where you're coming from, but I still think that a bit of nouse would be used in case they ever wanted to re-join. I'm not saying it's completely discountable, but even I went to a lot of effort to sneak out the Hemi V8 in the Targa car prior to the finish scrutineering. And I'm small fry compared to a factory team!
  5. I find it hard to believe a factory team would sell a factory car with an illegal engine.
  6. This thread is so very full of gay.
  7. Have fun Harry, look forward to some good vids mate

  12. Well, after much deliberation and angst, I've decided it's time to sell "my baby". FOR SALE – R34 GTR V-SPEC I’ve looked everywhere earlier but I seem to have misplaced my comprehensive I had for the GTR, but here goes off the top of my head  • The car is what I would describe as the perfect level for a street GTR. It is not so modified to sacrifice driveability, even as an “every day” driver. I’ve owned a few GTR’s and know my way around them, and am part of the “High Octane R34 GTR” team of Mark Berry and Russell Newman, and they’re in agreement that this is easily one of the “tidiest” GTRs we’ve seen. In fact, when the guys ran their eyes over it, they were astounded with how “nice” it is. The body and interior, in fact the entire car, are in really amazing condition. • The car was originally imported in (from memory) 2007 under the latest RAWS scheme, RAWS meaning every vehicle is of a high quality and inspected with no structural damage. Even the sills at the jacking points are super straight and super clean, usually the first place any Skyline will show any carelessness. It is a 1999 model, and I’ve had the VIN through Nissan “FAST” software to confirm it is a V-Spec, and it is equipped with the additional functions in the centre dash display that the V-Spec has. • I’ve known of the car since it arrived here in Australia, a fellow I’d met years before (who I’d sold a really lovely 32GTR to in fact circa 2002!) actually had it imported for him to order (he specifically wanted a black V-Spec). He was a miner in Mt Isa, where he kept the car until selling it to me here in Brisbane when he drove it down on route to going on an extended overseas holiday. He is a little older than me (45+ I’d say), so a little more mature, and not prone to juvenile treatment of a car. I’m 36 and have been “looking after” my cars for many years now, and I have a race car for venting the male urges  • Since I purchased the vehicle around a year ago, I have driven approximately 3,000klm. The speedo has just ticked over 51,000klm. The car has never been “tracked”. It is always garaged at my home. • I have fully serviced the vehicle twice since I’ve had it, and also rebuilt the gearbox as it had a slight whine in the first three gears, we suspect the wrong grade of oil was used at some stage. We installed a new main shaft, 3rd gear, and synchros, good as new now! All the best oils are used. • I have not had the car on a dyno, with the way the car drives and runs I’ve never had the need to. I haven’t torn the car apart to confirm some of the modifications/parts that I was told were fitted (by the prior Australian owner), because I have no need to doubt the prior owner or spec, nor, considering the performance of the car, would I question the modifications or performance. Somewhere around 250 to 285 AWKW would be fair. • The car has recently undergone a full three day “paint correction”. I’m anal about this car, and it’s glamorous! Lol • I have original bumpers and side skirts available by negotiation if that floats your boat. A parts list (please keep in mind, this is from what I’ve been informed, again, I’ve not dismantled the car to confirm things such as the turbos. The easily seen items I can obviously confirm); • N1 turbos • Nistune mapping • Blitz electronic boost control • HKS intercooler kit • HKS oil cooler kit with remote filter • HKS stainless steel front pipes (works of art) • HKS 4” stainless steel catalytic convertor (check the price of that!) • Kakimoto stainless exhaust system cat back • Trust Airinx air filters (though I have since re-fitted the factory air box with K&N filter to make the intake quieter, I’m getting old ) • Nismo carbon twin plate clutch – superb feel and not “rattly” • Nismo dash cluster (320klm/h) (fitted in Japan, likely from new as it is the orange type, not the fancy boy white faced version) • Nismo driver knee braces, also likely fitted new • Nismo genuine smoked front and side indicators • Nismo in-tank fuel pump • Genuine C-West body kit (front bar and under-tray, side skirts, rear bar) - Big bucks, and fits beautifully, looks factory quality and is attached using all original type fasteners in factory locations – no drilling. • Border brand (Japan) carbon fibre bonnet with venting • Xenon adjustable height beam headlights • Kings springs, factory shocks • Factory fitted mats • And to top it off, the best set of wheels ever for a GTR, special order only Rays Nismo LMGT4, 19” x 10.5” fitted with 285/30/19 tyres. These cost is excess of $6000 landed without tyres when purchased new, to order from Japan, in June 2009. • The car has all its original keys too. Meaning two normal Nissan spares, and the factory remote/immobiliser key. That is all I can think of right now. This car will not disappoint, things like the sills where there is usually damage are arrow straight, that kind of thing. Superb car, and it never ceases to get compliments. $52,000. Email me at [email protected] if interested and we can go from there. ** I've obtain more detailed photographs of interior etc for anyone interested over the weekend when I get it out for display at a Japanese car show.
  13. Urgggghh.... V8 Supercars. What was watchable a few years ago has turned into a dreary try-hard mess that seems to hold itself on a pedestal. Me thinks they're maybe so used to living in a bubble they're actually believing their own propoganda. This is how I watch it these days; I record it, then replay when convenient and listen to Crompley's pre-race garble. Once the first lap is complete I click the recording forward in 10 minute intervals. If I don't see anything of interest between clicks, I just keep clicking to the end! I seldom have to rewind to watch anything of interest, and I can typically compact the entire qualy and race into less that 15 minutes viewing time. Bathurst is different however, that is always a great entire day, filled with banter and booze
  14. Tried to call ya Sunday to have a brew with ya Roy........
  15. lolz Summed up brilliantly
  16. Zero excuses by the sounds of it Don't forget what you're doing for me Benno..... two things

  18. Haha. Wanker
  19. I'd put it in the too hard basket. My hair is already grey enough
  20. Yep, my JGC is rated at 3,500kg with 350kg ball weight, all with the factory hitch. Ample! I love it so much, I'm likely ordering the new model soon once they've arrived, it's most reliable and hands down best tow vehicle I've ever owned
  21. Yeah he said "check the mirrors under brakes on Mountain strait - nothing. Check again into The Cutting - nothing..... Get to Skyline, mirrors chock full of Mosler!" He also said when they passed him before the kink in Conrod, by the time he was exiting The Chase, they were already exiting Murray's corner! lol!
  22. Exactly, proper setup is everything! You can tow extraordinary weight and size if it's just setup correctly (discounting relevant laws).
  23. .... you could also race without seatbelts back then mate
  24. ........ back in the days of the Amazon Desert it may well have Harry.
