The best value 34 R is the one you can find in the nicest, cleanest body condition you can find within your budget. Before finding mine I was absolutely astounded with how many had had serious repair damage, often poorly done. I go on to see these cars sold to guys who should know better, but so many guys must fall in love with a dog because it's the right colour, right wheels, right turbos whatever....... Thats why I can never understand any private guy wanting to buy one unseen out of japan. For that value car, I want to see and touch it!

Lap Times Set By Skylines And Other Time Attack Cars
Marlin replied to 600hp's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
Pretty much the days prior to me having a digital camera, OR being computer savvy! lol Basically, very stripped 33 GTS-t. Built RB26, twin Apexi low mounts, GTR gaurds. 18x10's, Slicks, big AP's, etc. Made about 400RWKW then had (yes I know I know) another 100 in giggle gas. I'd like to know where that car is now! -
yeah she's a good thing. I've driven it quite a few times around Lakeside, done a best of mid 62 in it, not bad considering front runner Biante cars are 60 flat. Such a playful car, and I love how the front lifts when on the throttle Rough specs: 9", Top Loader, 500hp 302 Windsor (8500rpm), Skyline GTR Sumitomos. A joy

Cheeky bugger But I wasn't really commenting on the quick bum draggers, more the endless guys who build these 400KW cars with carbon dripping off them, owing $100k+.... to get overtaken around the outside by a farking Excel. I'd hang myself! Must have their heads so far up their own arse that they can't see the benefit in spending $500 on a good advanced circuit course... "Nah, let's just chuck another 100KW at it and another $20k of carbon, that'll get me past those pesky "racing Excels".

You're right, not stock to stock, thats is so rare these days! Just basic mods. Exhaust, bitta boost, some crappy coil overs, tyres and pads. Mute point really, as the different driving abilities I see around make it hard to pinpoint what's quick and whats shit. There's just SO many mega buck cars with all the good gear rolling around circuits with their balls in their wife's handbag somewhere. There's seriously something wrong when good proper turbo cars are getting are getting carved up by FWD buzzboxes!

Well I'm just plain wrong then aren't I!
-
No one will go off there, too much talk. Good place to make up a second or two you guys, everyone else will be shit scared through there

Let's do a swaps next time we're out there together..... maybe even swap wheels/tyres for a session ... get to the bottom of it.

Lap Times Set By Skylines And Other Time Attack Cars
Marlin replied to 600hp's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
Yeah Berry did a 62 in the 32 eons ago... and he hasn't had the 34 there. Even the 32 would be quite a lot faster not with the S6 and other improvements J Appo and I both did low 60's in his weapon 33 GTS-t there in, ohh, 2002, but buggered if I still have the day's timesheets for that one. lol Such a shame really that our ROYal highness hasn't been allowed to keep it up to date -
Well harry, as always mate, you're a bit different I agree though, your 180 really should be quicker than is it, it's not your driving, I know that, gotta be somethin funky with that car..... with the suspension changes in it, it really should be quicker than my thing around there. Have you tried driving the 180 a bit "straighter"? I also think Lakeside is a track that suits the Supra, as you well know it's fast and flowing, doesn't really give massive advantage to big hp cars, it's all about keeping the flow.

Pffft... what shortcut did you take Roy? -
haha, well Macca, I'd be running as big as I could! 10" with 285's on the 32, and 9" with 265 on the Emo..... Big rubber makes up for a thousand other shortcomings lol
-
The GTR will be hobbled by that rubber. And why is the Emo on such small rubber? We run 265's on Giant's.

Mate, I haven't driven a 32 GTR in real anger for a long time now..... My 32 is a GTS-t, and at risk of getting flamed, I enjoy it much more than a comparably quick GTR. The gts is just so much lighter on its feet. Couple of guys who own GTR's get out of mine beaming with how much fun it is, all citing how might lighter and responsive it is. The Evo 5 is a good thing, but quite one dimensional in its performance. A similarly modified 32 GTR will be much more satisfying to punt, but I'm sorry to say, it won't be as quick as an Evo 5/6 unless you're at a circuit that remards horsepower. The key I guess is that weight is everything (well, nearly) in any form of track car..... early Evo's are light, as is my GTS.... GTR's are fairly heavy things, but can make big HP numbers. It's up to you work out what you enjoy more.
-
It is vinyl...... and I'm fairly certain its a full rego car.
-
I had a terrible first experience with HarrysTimer last friday...... let me know how you can make it usable when you work it out Harry!

Guys, Drew and Georgie are selling their 32 GTR.... good thing I reckon, nice build. http://my105.com/classified.asp?id=16963

Well, I did miss an Evo 7 on Ebay saturday by $100
-
And another one actually at pace using Giant's Evo 5.

In my mind, the Pov is still a great bit of gear, very sturdy and proven. But, time marches on and HD is really so much more enjoyable to watch. So, the Radcam fits the bill, and I'm getting more familiar with it now. Editing is no harder, I just needed to set my editing default to widescreen hd. It also comes with excellent mounts, but lacks a little battery life though compared to Pov. You Can however charge if from the car and I'll do that and ad a noise suppressor, or simply install the supplied charger for the second battery in the car. A minor design fault is the lipstick cam clamp, the little rubber band supplied gets cut very quickly because the plastic moulding is sharp. Easy fixed by either a small file or using a zip tie. Overall I'm very happy with it and think its really quite good value.

Some more RadCam footage shot yesterday..... using supplied external mic, one window down..... doesn't appear all jumpy when playing off the memory card, yep appears a little on YouTube... maybe my connection speed? (ADSL)
-
Ok, I think i have it sorted.... some footage from yesterday, RadCam.

Clutch fork yes, pivot ball no, well, not always. First step is to see if the slave is moving the fork when someone depresses the clutch.

Bnr32 Track Build
Marlin replied to Kaido_RR's topic in Members Cars, Project Overhauls & Restorations
Yeah. Mark's 34 has a 40l cell but still requires a surge tank. its a bit of a pain to fill, mainly due to all the wing support scaffold in the way, and it doesn't last long enough, especially when you just wanna do say a dozen 80% testing laps. An 80l custom cell was built for Bathurst last year to allow a warm up, a couple/few flyers, and a cool down.... I'm still astounded how much juice these things use.... thankfully its on E85 now and not that big dollar Elf! lol -
I'd be adding this near the vehicle desciption, "(Non turbo)" Just to appease whoever may be reading it that it isn't actually a 400KW GTR.... if ya know what I mean?
