I dont know from tuning experience, but 400hp at the flywheel seems ok if you have a headgasket that will drop compression slightly.

Buy a Exedy button clutch kit. They are really cheap these days!

Fuel pump. get a Bosch 044 intank fuel pump.

Step1 camshafts do the job!

s13rb26 why say stupid things, if u dont know dont say nothing. 400hp is easily achievable. uneed:

- turbo

- injectors 555cc

- computer (power fc)

- fuel pump

- boost controller

- intercooler

- full exhaust with dump pipe.

basically that all (unless i forgot something). 400hp is very easy to obtain, lowering compression is stupid in this instance.

400hp is 298kw so around 250rwkw

please dont forget

good tyres

good cold air intake setup

fuel pump

heavy duty clutch

suspension work

nismo 480cc's should be fine for this power target (see bass junkys recent upgrade)

to fit in 550cc's or higher youll need to change the fuel rail as the highest spec you can run for the top feed neo rail is the nismo 480cc ones.

Wow thank for the Infos

my car has

Suspesion is a HKS Hypermax Coilover

Tires Fr. 225 and back 255 18´inc

ok i think nismo 480cc / Bosch 044 will be the right one for me THX..

but im not sure about the Camchafts which degree??

Nismo headgasket.

Cams always needed for a race/performance car.

lower compression .3more or anymore will be noticble.

480cc nismos are about 1000AUD

400HP is definately easily achievable from the RB25DET...

Although my R33 GTS-t is fairly stock (daily driver), I'm currently getting 260HP at all 4 wheels from my MY98 WRX... which is well over 400HP at the flywheel.

Engine mods I did to my EJ20T included:

IHI VF23 turbo (2nd largest STi turbo)

Bigger TMIC

3" cat back zorst / pod

Autronics SMC

That was all that was needed to crack 400HP with a EJ20T... so with RB25DET, maybe less... B)

How much boost are you running?

your posts lately are making me wonder lately if school holidays is just showing itself again

Cams are not "always needed". As you've had no expirience... i'll let you in on a secret, i made 330rwkw with stock cams :D

You dont need to lower the compression for 250rwkw IMO, should be perfectly fine. It'll be a much better car without dropping it.

480 nismo's are closer to 900aud, 950 delivered, but he is O/S... so pricing is really irellevant

who cares if you made 330rwkw.

a 240rwkw SR20 will slap you on the street.

headgasket is always best to get, but maybe you drive like a pussy since you hardly see boost in your 330rwkw barge.

Now now boys, keep it clean.

I made 250rwkw with High Flow turbo, Cams, injectors, BATMBL split front dump, cat, 3" exhaust, Splitfires, 14psi and a Race Pace tune.

Check the RB25DET upgrade thread for a dyno chart.

It's easy and safe to make this power without a head gasket.

555cc injectors don't fit.

You can fit Sards, but you needs different collars, you can fit HKS but you need the full HKS rail.

480cc Nismos are direct fit.

I used Tomei Poncams, 260 x 9.15 lift. I think for a street car I would have used the 256 degree (or whatever the one down was) next time.

Be sure to note that the NEO cams are different from the other RB25s and they are NOT interchangeable as the NEO has solid lifters.

ps 330rwkw, 12.1 1/4, = 240rwkw bashing.

How much boost are you running?

Hey Dark,

I'm running 20 psi on the WRX... :P

With a 4Kg JUN flywheel, the engine builds revs quickly and and hardly any lag...

I can also switch on anti-lag on the Autronics for full boost at anytime... :)

Are we talking about an SR here? I could have sworn it was an R34 GT-T

What's with the slagging here?  :)

No idea to be honest, there are muppets on every forum though

You Lucky Bastard!

Well, if you are constantly up at high revs, then the 260 degree will be spot on.

As you can see from my Chart, I'm making 240 rwkw for about 2000 rpm and it extends the power making right through the standard 7200 rpm limit up to 7800, which I don't use often, but it sure helps at Calder.

I have a lightweight flywheel and a super heavy duty single. You will 100% need a new clutch at these power levels.

Also a good LSD will help becuase mine single spins out of corners on the track. This will be fixed on my car very soon!

Cheers

Pete

    • This looks great! Awesome to have the 5 speed with an LSD in this. The Recaro's look like SR2's or SR3's. It's a shame they've been retrimmed as they would have looked sweet in their original colours. I think I'd want my agent to be a little more up front and informative too. I've never imported but I reckon it would make me a little nervous, so the more info the better.
    • Thanks for doing that Duncan! Makes you a good person in my books. We don't get kangaroos or wombats here. But we have bats and it's similar. AFAIK it's often the mums with a baby attached that get hit because they drop lower when starting from a tree. If you hit an animal, check on it. https://www.ifaw.org/au/resources/wildlife-rescue-app An app to get the closest wildlife rescue contact.
    • My dream is also to have a proper hoist, but I don't think it will ever happen. My quickjack is probably as close as I'll ever get, it really is very good though.
    • Yeah we keep on in the dailies, it is pretty poor how many animals get hit and the driver leaves without checking....have saved a couple of little ones over the years. Bit of a gruesome job though, pouches generally need to be cut open because they are so tight and often the joey doesn't realise mum is gone so they are still locked onto the teat. I checked the modules in front of the DS wheel where an oil cooler should go.... There is the radar unit - that can go for race use) One of the 2 HX water pumps, the silver cylinder. That needs to be kept but might be able to be relocated But the bad news, the big computer mounted vertically in front of the wheel (blocking any potential air exit) is the electric steering computer. That is required until/unless i do a hydraulic steering conversion, and in CAD based modern car design it is not like I can just pop a big unit like that somewhere else (plus the loom would be too short anywhere else too). So, the passenger side is OK to clear out (just use a smaller washer reservoir, potentially elsewhere), but the DS no beuno
    • Well, all the best with the new camry It was interesting to hear about the UK process, it is generally a lot more streamlined here with a shipping agent looking after all the import side (noting the exact final price can still be a surprise.....) and I've used a few different brokers on the japan (or US) side, and never had any trouble with any of them....luck of the draw I guess. You mentioned you didn't get the auction sheet (understandable since you bought it from a dealer, not auction), but I always try and get hold of that because they are pretty thorough. I've imported 2x R grade vehicles over the years and both were fine, repairs in Japan are pretty thorough compared to here in Oz.
