my advice is to go there for a holiday first before you try and make a move to live and work there. learning some japanese wouldn't hurt either.

plus i hope she is very hot if you are trekking to japan to try and hook up...

sounds all great blah blah blah but i hate to be the one to break it to you.. a lot of people i know here in Tokyo came and did the same thing as what you're planning to do.. Aka. Come to japan to be with girlfriends, work as english teachers, and try and get by... For some people it works, but also for a large number, the girls go back to living with their families, and returning to their previous state.. a lot of people on other forums (Gaijinpot.com for one) also speak of similar stories.. I won't go into here, but have a look at some forums before you take the big jump to see what others have to say..

Also, Can you speak any japanese? Can you read/write hiragana, katakana, kanji? If not.. id get cracking on learning some before you come..

Hate to be negative, but maybe its more the truth than anything else.

plus being an english teacher in japan will get you next to zero respect over there. and not much cash either. sad but true.

it would be good fun for a year or two, but not really a decent long term carrer choice.

Go for it if you want to.

There are plenty of people who have made it work, on here and other forums.

There will always be someone who is negative. Always someone who bitch about it on various Japan forums, advice people not to go, because their stay in Japan didn`t workout.

Cheers Circus Monkey!

Thanx for the advice guys......i just think i'm having a start of life crisis, not sure if i'm cut out for the rat race. Everyday just seems like groundhog day weeks pass and i don't even know it.

Poida: I'm of chinese background so picking up the language shouldn't be too bad....i hope.

    • Ha ha ha, that's fair mate! We have the crackhead dogs now. Mainly because the missus wants the crazy dogs while she still has the energy and capacity to be able to keep up with them! Ha ha our current two are both Working GSD, there brothers and sisters (from the same litters) are in Police, Corrective Services, and I believe one did end up in defence force too. They're wild and fun, yet right now, both curled up asleep on the lounge room floor while we watch some TV. Mal is very likely the next dog (unless I get my couch potato guardian dog 😛 )   What are your Kitties names? Are you planning some house work, like those high kitty shelves, built in scratching post, and some cat passages from one room to another room?
    • Maine Coone, did look at but to big and fluffy As for performance dogs, we had Mals at work, performance dogs are fun to watch, but, way to much work for this old rooster
    • Yep, it was only an option on the Q50 Hybrid.  Same in Japan as far as I know. And doesn't use a centre diff like the Suby's do, so not the same as the WRX.  But it also isn't a reactive AWD like other Nissan AWD vehicles are, eg. Murano/Xtrail/etc.
    • You should have got a Maine Coone then. Only thing is they're big. But so cool, and just like a dog. Or, just get yourself a high performance dog. That'll teach you for wanting Parkour indoors 😛
    • Are you thinking of Bens R32? I don't remember if his went through the bonnet itself, but it went through the chassis rail. Brad (RISKIN) bought it, and turned it into a track car. It's funny how anti people are of Jim Berry now. I remember when I pulled mine out (during an engine change) and inspected it and found it cracking badly. At that point in time so many people were even on SAU, were so pro Jim Berry, and that was after Bens GTR exploded his quite publically.
