Well, being the tightarse that i am and not being able to afford a brand new set of semi slicks/slicks, i'm looking around for a 2nd hand set to run at sprint days etc this year.

I was wondering if anyone knew of any people/places to speak to (Preferably in Brisbane, though its not THAT critical) that may have some that they're willing to part with for reasonable prices, as i don't have a huge budget to play with?

Sizes i'm looking for are around the 205/55/16 sort of area (for a 6.5" wide rim, so slightly smaller or larger is okay as well)

Thanks in Advance

Jason

unfortunately it may be a hard ask finding second hand 16s. most of the serious guys these days are on 18s+, and it's the serious guys who turf out half worn tyres. the guys who are on 16s are usually at the tight arse end of the scale, and as such use 'em till they pop.

:) Sounds like me (how you described the 16" crowd, lol)

Thanks for the help anyway Beer Baron

I've got some 18's going cheap.

Only been used for 1 track day. They have a minor flat spot on them however.

can you post a pic of the flat spot, cause i cant make it out in the pic you posted...

the Saloon Cars (commodores and Falcons) use 225/50*16 Bridgeston RE55S (same as in that flatspot pic) as their control tyre. The front runners replace them regularly, and their 2nd handies should be very cheap (they pay $225ea brand new).

    • It's almost certainly a reluctor generating an "AC" waveform. No, ECUs don't generally read those - they're usually set up for PWM square wave 0-5v stuff.

    • I can get more photos of it here soon and I plan to make a thread detailing the process. I received the car this way and it sorely needs refinishing. That is probably the most appealing photo of it. Up close it is fading, cracked, and needs to be re-glued. Depending on their condition I'm on the fence between refinishing or making a new set.  Another angle hiding the pimples and razor pumps
    • According to this thread the RS4V with build plate RC40 comes with the R200 diff @ 4.083 ratio as well (mine has said RC40 denotation). We may need to check if the axle stubs are the same pattern as well. The auto subframes have longer axles. However I think yours being a later Series 2 as well, we should have the same bolt pattern for the diff stubs. Unless your upgraded rear also has upgraded axles. Either way, I would not be opposed to pulling the covers to check so I can inspect that  fancy rear core  Also I don't have HICAS. I don't believe that should change things but I hope the people here with heaps more experience than me can correct me if I'm wrong   Let me know if you want to attempt to make this work and I can get some pictures of mine from under the car.
