How is it a rip-off?

Its a relatively new car (compared to the R3x series of Skylines), which will probably have low kilometres, and its a luxury GT with all the mod cons. Its hardly the target market of a GT-R owner, and so you shouldn't compare it like that.

Its a lot better, interior-wise, than a 350Z which starts at over $60K new. And unless you're a brand Nazi its a much better luxo tourer than any sub-$100K car on the Australian market. I'd take one over a 325Ci / CLK280.

damn

i didnt realise they would be that cheap! few extra grand and i can trade in the GTT and get myself a nearly brand new luxury sports car and its still a skyline in a way. but non turbo =(

by the look of that white one, i got the idea these things would be well over 60gs.

Not a big fan of the shape/look tho, but hey its luxury more then sports and interior is hot.

what a rip off , How is it a rip-off?, just because you see some around for 35 ~ 40, doesn't mean that that's what ALL of them should cost... have another think mate , What a dickhead? , rip off - they took the nismo stickers off the bonnet and the boot
its a decent price for australia. Im just arrogantly comparing the prices of the same cars in Australia and Japan. As i have been living in japan for the past few years and know what they cost and the condition you can get them for over here I cant help but do that.

I Should have expanded a bit more on my first post before all the internet simpletons(blitz) jump in. sorry fellas didnt mean to hurt anyones feelings.

The Monaro costs less in the US than it does in Australia, and considering its made in Australia that's quite impressive. Now that's not fair.

But in this case the cars have to be shipped by relatively low volume means, have customs and duty paid on them, and then complied. And that's before you even factor in the importer's profit margin to keep their company afloat.

How much are they in Japan for one in decent condition?

You didnt hurt anyones feelings, but dont go calling me a simpleton, that just makes you look like an idiot.

I too know what they go for in Japan having been to various auctions, so I believe that the low to mid $50 RRP for them in Australia is tp be expected.

Realistically, you are getting what is imho a better looking car than a 350Z, and one that is more unique, for around the same price (assuming you buy from a dealer) - Or you import yourself and pickup a nice 2003 6 speed coupe for around $35-40k complied.

word to that. i dont remember nice V35s being bargain basement at the auctions. for a late model top of the line coupe (with the tricky auto etc) they were still quite expensive. I too would say 55K landed, complied, registered and in your hands to drive is pretty reasonable, but who cares what i think? We will have to wait and see what people in that market will think of them. Maybe we will be seeing V35 specialist tuning shops popping up??? lol maybe not.

then you calling me a dick head a few posts above does what? ....

:P if you wish to discuss this further please pm me

    • Working through possible solutions of converting my mechanical speedo.    Anyone know what type of speedo sensor the factory r34 gtr getrag has ? what the output is ? I assume its not a VSS and more a voltage like earlier speedo sensors ? Can an ECU read it ?

    • I can get more photos of it here soon and I plan to make a thread detailing the process. I received the car this way and it sorely needs refinishing. That is probably the most appealing photo of it. Up close it is fading, cracked, and needs to be re-glued. Depending on their condition I'm on the fence between refinishing or making a new set.  Another angle hiding the pimples and razor pumps
    • According to this thread the RS4V with build plate RC40 comes with the R200 diff @ 4.083 ratio as well (mine has said RC40 denotation). We may need to check if the axle stubs are the same pattern as well. The auto subframes have longer axles. However I think yours being a later Series 2 as well, we should have the same bolt pattern for the diff stubs. Unless your upgraded rear also has upgraded axles. Either way, I would not be opposed to pulling the covers to check so I can inspect that  fancy rear core  Also I don't have HICAS. I don't believe that should change things but I hope the people here with heaps more experience than me can correct me if I'm wrong   Let me know if you want to attempt to make this work and I can get some pictures of mine from under the car.
    • It's not that straightforward. For example I have had this code because my ignitor/power transistor wires were unplugged. It knows something is wrong but has no idea what it means. If you want to actually diagnose this I recommend following the service manual flowchart for code 21. Ohm out the harness, coilpacks, inspect the ECU, etc. And again, it's entirely possible for there to be no problem at all but if you're running a different coilpack it'll trigger the code because it doesn't like what it sees.
