OK, i can't stop laughing everytime i think about it. Its so IN YOUR FACE sort of thing, i'm sure everyone would have seen TOYOTA latest billboard ad campains.

I dont know about other states but here in VIC, there is this massive billboard on Kings way that shown TOYOTA own F1 car's picture and then under it there is this sentence that say

NO WONDER WHY WE WEREN'T INVITE TO BATHURST

I also saw another one at a bus stop that have the same TOYOTA F1 car which said :

NOW THIS IS A REAL V8 SUPERCAR

I love it so much that i so want one of them billboard for my garage. Once again, in your FACE.

Yeah i remember a few years ago toyota was lobing to get into V8 supercars. And all the ford and holden drivers were saying how they don't mind them looking into it, just that they want if throughly investgated, and that if it's in the best interest of the sport.

But i think we all know that they would be shit scared cos toyota could make a great v8 supercar. They are the most profitable car maker in the world (in the next few years they will be selling more cars than GM, plus they won't be selling them for a loss unlike GM) they have racing experiance in the most advance series in the world with formula 1. And i plain don't understand how people think commodores are good cars.

My mum has one for work and i drove it one day and the fit and finish is terible. The steering is vague with no feel or weight. The brakes are wooden and has a slushly pedal. But on the other hand i have driven a BA and find them to be much better.

Back on topic Toyota for the win!!!

"Experience is the word people give to their mistakes".

The best funded F1 team in the paddock, and they still can't string a couple of wins together even after stealing a front running team's engineering.

I work for the 'Big T' and I didn't know that they were apparently only up in Melbourne.... must have been for the 'Grand Prix' :D

As for the comment that they haven't won anything yet - the 'tag line' cleverly avoids that by saying

"We Race, We Learn - You Win"

I agree though - excellent ad - to quote another Victorian "Stuck it right up'em" :ermm:

Advertising the soon-to-be new 'Aurion' with some hinting at 'F1-inspired' undertones is ghey. I'm really sure it makes grandpa&ma all warm and fuzzy inside to think that they will be able to buy some 'sporty' camry derivative. Toyota's marketing guff is teh suck. They became the worlds most profitable car maker by selling (for the most part) the worlds most boring (but reliable) vehicles. Say's a lot about the average driver, I reckon.

They shoulda just stuck with rallying, instead of F1- at least they could win at that.

But no, someone decided F1 was more 'glamourous', and that they'd have a crack at that instead. Hey we can't lose- We're Toyota, let's just inject cubic dollars and watch the championships roll in. Nigga please.

i took a photo of that with my phone ages ago and its still my background.... i love it

Bogans hate it. A couple of the signs at bus stops have been vanalised... jealous

I think I saw Mike Gascoyne running away from one of those bus signs last Saturday night :ermm:

Myeeh

Got more points then Ford, Nissan, Holden, Mazda or Mitsubishi have scored in Formula 1 recently and those are the only competitors in the Australian market place ;-)

Also makes sense if you are advertising a 6 cylinder to differentiate yourself from the others (and it's a lot better then the 'Camry Chicken' or 'Dame Edna' - what were they on ??)

Sure the Aurion won't be my first choice (that'll be the Skyline ;-) but heck I really enjoyed my Corolla Sportivo and will be sad when it goes next week to be replaced by a Yaris (Fear my 1.3 litres of FURY !!!! ;-)

Thats true, but unfortunatly they were disqualified for allegedly cheating in 1995, (the adjustable turbo restrictor), and subsequently banned for all for 1996. I guess this gave them time to explore other avenues.

And that new Aurion Sportivo concept, a 3.5L v6, supercharged, FRONT wheel drive??? Come on.

Allegedly! - the whole thing was investigated by the FIA & Toyota found guilty. They thoroughly deserved what they got.

So you can probably drop the allegedly if you want.

IMHO it was one of the most egregious examples of cheating you would ever come across.

I remember watching V8 supercar drivers having their Gala dinner or whatever it was on TV at CROWN CASINO and ALAN MOFFAT(spelling?) was saying something like:

.....a few years back Toyota did approach us (probably V8 super car organiser) to see if they can run in our V8 supercar with their own 4lt engine quad cam all alloy on a slightly lighter car too and i told them to build the same 5lt engine and build the same car then join us

I can still remember Alan was saying this while laughing and i thought what an arrogant prick. No disrespect here, i love watching V8supercar myself but dont' they think its getting boring that you only see Holden and Ford?

some 1 take a pic of this, i wanna see it :O

I saw them when I was down in Melbourne for F1.

They're kinda funny. There was one on a massive billboard across the road from the Palmerston pub (which is a block away from Albert Park), as well as in tram stops everywhere.

They had some sort of 'bypass' set-up to flow around the restrictor, as I remember it. The FIA, predictably, takes a fairly dim view of such 'creative' engineering.

The whole series is obviously massively popular, but the cars bear almost no resemblance from a technology point of view to the road-cars anymore. They're more like 'stock' cars- 5 Litre engines and live rear axles...gimmes a freakin' break!. Bring back Grp A!!

They are scared that toyota will win with they superior technology, remember the last japanese car maker that handed holden and ford their ass on a plate and still holds the fastest bathurst race time after all these years.

    • Per Mark Roberts of Sonictune: Mark Robert Author At this time, no. No ETA either 2016-17 models. You will be able to purchase and install a 2018.5+ TCU though   TCU purchasing and pricing info! As we near the release of TCU tuning, I am going to answer some questions I get asked often.   What do I need for TCU tuning? At this time, you will need a 2018.5+ TCU to be able to tune. If you have a 2016-to early 2018, you will need to replace your TCU with the newer version. One good way to know if your TCU is good is if you have auto upshift in manual mode in 1st gear around 6500 rpms. If your manual 1st gear goes to 7k rpm and will hit the rev limiter unless you shift, you have the older TCU.   Why do I need to buy another ecu license/phone flash if I already have it on my ECU tune? The TCU is its own computer module. It is completely separate from the ECU. Because of this, you will be required to purchase a TCU license and, if your tuner has it, the phone flash license required to tune it via phone/bluetooth.   Do I need TCU tuning? TCU tuning is NOT required. However, the faster your setup, the more it will assist in track and dragy time consistency.   If I’m ECU tuned by (tuner A) can I get my TCU tuned by (Tuner ? Yes, since it’s a different module and a completely separate flash, you can have two different tuners. However, it is highly recommend that you have both tuned by the same tuner. For me, my TCU tuning will directly complement my ECU tuning style and features and running my ECU and another TCU or vice versa MIGHT cause some issues. At this time and for the foreseeable future, I will only be tuning my current ECU tuned customers TCUs.     I have a SYVECS AWD controller. Do I still need it? Yes! The AWD controllers main job is to control your AWD system. However, with TCU tuning, you will no longer need the auto-shift function as that will be done through the TCU. The AWD controller will still be very beneficial for racers looking to maximize traction on the launch.     Shift schedule changes: holding gears longer at lower pedal input as well as max shift rpm changes. Please note, the new ECU race rom coming out will address 90% of the shitty drivability issues these cars have through custom maps from myself and Racebox—as well as others I am sure.   Increase shift speeds: as seen in the videos I’ve been posting, the TCU shifts much faster once tuned.   Increased shift pressures: as also seen in the videos, much firmer full throttle shifts.

    • The fancy pants red shock tower brace is finally incoming from MX5 Mania, getting it shipped from 'Merica has been a long and problematic process, and GWR, the 'Merican supplier will not ship directly to consumers outside of the US, Mania basically had to order a heap of them, the colour choice was silver, or red, and we all know anything red adds 5 killerwasps of dynotorques..... Whilst it does fit over a 2.5, and I've seen a few photos and videos of it being installed and fitting, google also says it might get real close to the FAB9 intake front runner, people in the US says it does fit with the FAB9 intake, except for one person who said it slightly touched.......so there is that.....LOL..... As it seems that I am the first in AU to have this combination of parts there's no local knowledge about fitment, so I'm just a willing guinea pig in this endeavour, I'll cross my fingers and toes and hope for the best In other news, I ordered stuff from China  on the same day I ordered the 23° silicone bend from Victoria, the stuff from China arrived a day ago, the 23° silicone bend is still travelling around Australia thanks to Australia Post, and "may" be here next week
    • Very good news...I contacted Racebox about it last night. My car is a 2016 so remains to be seen if it is compatible, requires a TCU swap, or is impossible.
    • What ECU are you running? This is probably the biggest question. If it's a PowerFC, I'd probably change the ECU and get something newer that will handle the injectors in a nicer way.
