I have the 040, did exactly what choyda did to fit it. I was expecting it to be loud but it was only when priming. It makes a very noticable hissing sound outside the car

SAME :(

Very very happy, and only paid $185 for it brand new from a Ford dealer on ebay

had it direct wired to the battery feed (new fuses and all - I can take out a fuse hidden near my battery and the car wont start as no power goes to the fuel pump)

I made sure the Bosch 040 fuel pump was installed as low as possible inside the tank

Top value, no way was I going to use a) Walbro or b) second hand GTR pump

R32GTR (Z32) pump is 190 litres per hour at 12 volts and supports 420 bhp at standard pressure (ie; 36-38 psi).

R33GTR pump is 210 litres per hour at 12 volts and supports 460 bhp at standard pressure (ie; 36-38 psi).

If you run a relay and direct feed from the battery to the pump (ie; 13.8 volts) then add around 10% to the above.

:( cheers

PS, GTR pumps are only noisy if you don't install them correctly, use the rubber mounts and keep the pick off the floor of the tank.

As SK states above, direct power feed makes a substantial difference to flow and pressure. I fitted a Nismo GT-R pump, direct power feed and installed an HKS regulator. This is well and truely enough to support 680 cc injectors at 100% duty whilst still maintaining adequate rail pressure. A/F ratios sit at 11.5:1 with a peak power of 540 hp at the back wheels.

Hi guys

I have a walbro fuel pump

Had it installed recently, alongside my hiflow turbo

as some ppl on here know about

I have 306hp at the wheels, no issues and pulls all the way to 7300

soon i will be getting injectors z32 afm and turbosmart regulator

get the fuel and air mixtures down abit.

Everything at the moment is close to maxing out.

But is running great, no noise or any dramas with the fuel pump.

i was going to put in a bosch 040 pump to start with, but when i pulled out my standard fuel pump, noticed that the bosch wouldnt of fit

and would of had to make a new bracket for it.

couldn't of been bothered with that.

walbros are pretty much a direct fit, and i used the filter off my standard fuel pump onto the walbro, haven't had any problems and have ran the car right down til it was empty.

Not sure if its true, but have heard that some bosch pumps dont like running when theres a quarter of a tank left.

Wouldn't of bothered me anyway.

And with the walbro i might run a direct relay to the battery to give it a consistent 12 volts.

    • Its a 2002 vr-x four VQ25DET, silver. Coil overs, lowered, polished alloys and sport exhaust. Bit of a project, was sitting in a shed for a while but runs and drives great.
    • I wasn’t able to replicate the sound anymore. It was a one time sound so maybe it was just coincidence but it was like small pebbles being dropped in a coke can.   should I try cleaning the MAF? It could be it’s functioning but dirty? I don’t know.
    • Update 4: Hi all. The car drives again! Haven't driven for long, only to store it in the garage again, but the test drive was successful. The coolant and oil leaks seem to be fixed for now. Temps on the engine were also very good, while moving I never even saw 80C water during the approx. 30 minute drive. Ate up all the coolant in the reservoir though so will have to fill that even more when I go to the car next time. One thing that pisses me off is that the RPM gauge is still f**ked, I even resoldered the board twice and used copper paste on the silly screws that are used as connections. Next time I take it out I'll take apart the board and fit new components, I'll see if I can get a replacement IC for it.  I have an appointment set for 22nd of September for the engine tune to 370hp. Alignment also still needs to be done. My hope is that I can get all the legal stuff over with by the end of this season. Anyone of you have advice regarding intercoolers? Currently there is an APEXI core fitted, one of those weird hybrid ones, 600x270x76. I don't think it's bad but it's not new and now I still have the chance to change it now to legally include it in the paperwork. Only issue is that the only options that would arrive in time are a HKS Type R intercooler or generic Ebay spec intercoolers comparable to a JustJap one. Ideally I'd order a Plazmaman but it takes over a month to receive which would mean making the car legal has to wait until next season. Would love to hear some input on this. Same story for my injectors, the previous owner was a nunce and put ID 1050x on the engine. They work but are obviously not ideal at "normal" power levels. But I don't see a reason to change them unless the tuner says it's necessary. I read online before buying a different exhaust that the top secret style rear diffusers won't fit due to the size of the rear resonators. My buddy and I made it work by slightly "adjusting the shape" of the mounting bracket and making some spacers out of 3d print for the mounting bolts. Fits like a charm. Just putting this here in case someone has this problem. Even the hefty HKS Silent Hi Power rear can fits without hitting anything.
