My last 3 tanks have been around 520-540km out of 56-58L.. ~10.7km/L

Power fc, high flow turbo on 12psi for daily driving. Spend a fair amount of time idling waiting for parking at uni and i dont drive like a granny either

New O2 sensor, spark plugs and using engine braking to keep injector duty at 0% as much as possible help abit though :(

0.9bar boost and id say a medium 2 hard drive + dredded peekhour freeways.

What are the other GTR owners gettin?

I got 520km off 47L this week. 9L/100km :P

I remapped my ECU about 3/4-1/2 way through the tank. Removing R&R made a huge difference... leaning out 5000 -> redline helped aswell when I felt like thrashing the ol rb20 :D

It needs more timing so there is still room for improvement

  • 3 weeks later...

Lucky to get 300km! But not complaining my 4wd had a 100l tank about $130+ to fill up and I would be lucky to get 350-400km out of it (in perth)! Not only does my skyline get me to places a hell of alot quicker, smoother and in more style I also find it much more of a pleasure to drive!

really odd thing happened with my car. usually if i chuck say $20 of BP ultimate in there i will get around 16L and prob around 130 ish km. anyway, i put in $20 of vortex last week and got 185km out of 16L - wtf? in my experience vortex gives me less km's than ultimate. still trying to work it out but meh.

I'm running a PowerFC and making 350rwhp.

I get around 450kms per tank. The fuel light usually comes on a bit past 400kms if it let it go that far. This includes some spirited driving, i reckon i could get 500+ if i babied it, but what's the point?! When it's driven fairly hard it really does guzzle though.

Interesting..

Ive allways gone BP Ultimate in my import cars but I have heard this about Vortex 3 times now..

maybe we should do our own little mythbusters style test and see how it turns out..

Vortex Vs BP ultimate..

    • Did and sync timing with light
    • Have you done the Ignition Sync Wizard in the AEM software?
    • Find out what RPM it was idling at with the IACV unplugged. It's very weird that the rpm didn't change at all, and then it stalled. When it stalls is it nearly like a switch off, like you've turned the engine off? Or is it more stutters and sputters and coughs to death over a few seconds? Or does the RPM just slowly keep going down and down? Have you done a test of trying to start it with the AFM unplugged? Does it still die?     If you Follow Josh's advice on using Nistune to check the voltages (which is a perfect method!) if you see anything out of wack voltage wise, THEN get the multimeter out and read the voltage directly at the sensor. If the two vary, then you're now looking for a wiring issue vs a sensor issue. So be aware, what the ECU sees, may not be what the sensor is actually saying too...
    • You very likely need to get it on a dyno and tune it. My assumption is, you've got an RB25DET tune in it, which has a different manifold, different injectors, and different cams as a minimum. What O2 sensor are you running?   When you say it runs extremely rich from idle all the way to redline, is this just free revving it you see that?
    • I seem to the be only person that is using a Haltech 2500 on an NA motor, I've installed a Bosch DBW throttle body to the OEM intake manifold and am having problems maintaining AFR even with the wideband o2.  It will run extremely rich at idle and up to redline, but under load it will go extremely lean in the 20s and i'm essentially having to rev it over 4k and feather the clutch to get it up to speed.  I've read a few other threads of about the butterfly, it seems removing the vacuum to it is supposed to have it remain open, i've noticed no difference under 4k with the vacuum line to it plugged.  I'm hoping someone here has had luck using the NA manifold with Haltech, and if they happen to have a tune for it.
