realised my o2 sensors were fitted but the plastic conectors were not hooked up. Now they are hooked up the car seems to run a little better and I am hoping the km's/tank will go up a little. Just filled up today 65L of the good stuff... lets see how long it lasts.

Interesting..

Ive allways gone BP Ultimate in my import cars but I have heard this about Vortex 3 times now..

maybe we should do our own little mythbusters style test and see how it turns out..

Vortex Vs BP ultimate..

i found that i can get a few more k's outta vortex but watch the pinging increase. not worth it ! i think vortex is only 95. will only use it in the middle of winter if i need to. think the vortex 98 is even better than bp98 but dont sell it over here :P

hmmm im going to have to fill up the tank in the zed and try this cos she drinks fuel like nothing on earth - thought she would be better than the Skyline but seems to be the same. On her little information dial thing she reckons she's getting 7.8L per 100 ..... which is like corolla fuel useage and she certainly drinks more than that .... maybe i just didnt see the 1 in front of the 7 ..... cos 17.8L per 100 would be far more accurate in my opinion.

Niz, you can work it properly with the trip meter. Completely fill it up and reset the trip meter. Next time you fill up take down how many liters you put in and the KM's you did and work it out from there.

Its something like Liters * 100 / kilometers

i managed to finaly get 400 km out of a tank on shell premium, yeehhhaaaa.

pity its only 95 octane

ihave heard shell and caltex have made an arrangement with bp ( the only fuel supplier in W.A.) to carry 98 octane

so it looks like no matter where we buy our 98 octane it will be bp ultimate just re labeled either shell or caltex

I'm lucky to get 350km to a tank running 7psi all the time. I'm gonna try some injector cleaner and might try cleaning the sensors. But I'm in the city the whole time and my foot is quite heavy so I don't think I'm doing too badly though. Tell you what, it's a shock after driving a charade for seven years! I used to get 500km to a 35L tank of fuel doing the same sort of driving. 600km if I was doing country runs.

I do hwy driving but also stop start driving and get about max. 580km out of the tank, but average is around 530km with the fuel light just coming on and takes 55 litres its a 65 litre tank.

Thats with a little bit of lead footing as well so its not bad for such a powerful car other four cylinder cars I have owned only get like 650km so the extra couple of dollars means nothing for the performance enhancement.

I run mainly Vortex 98 or V-Power - Haven't tried the V-Power Racing as yet only because every shell i pull into I can't seem to get the bowser with it, but anyone know if putting that ethanol blend in the skylines is bad? As I have heard different things and not sure whethers it a good idea to try or not.

    • Possibly avoid using a Cometic one unless the deck/head surface are perfectly flat. I did have a look just then and forgiving gaskets such as Tomei or Nitto don't exist for the FJ20, however the Bar-Tek or Kameari ones look good and might do the trick.
    • Because pipe threads for pipe things. M threads for bolt things. Throw some teflon sealant onto it and dust your hands off knowing you did the right thing, instead of going twice around the block to achieve a result using the wrong things. Of course, all of these solutions are ignoring the fact that the minimum thread pitch we're talking about here is 1.25mm, with the 1/4" in NPT or BPS being out around 1.4mm. You will need to know that the boss you're tapping has enough thickness for at least a few threads. That's one of the reasons that 1/8" is commonly used - because the pitch is <1mm. And why would you look to use 1/4" NPT in a BSP country anyway? Ugh.
    • Just throwing around ideas, does it need to be in the compressor cover? Why not the hot side piping?
    • 1/8NPT drill size = 8.7mm. Since the hole got messed up by me, it’s probably around 9mm.    So 1/4” NPT would be next step. A drill size of around 11mm would be preferred there which is not way of my M12 (drill 10.5mm and tap M12 threads)
