You travelling at 116km, stray dog runs out, into your path, you brake, swerve, loose control, smash through a fence, and end up stationary in a couple’s bedroom with one person dead. All because you "think" you are some shit hot driver that has had X amount of lessons. From all those lessons you still didn't learn the most important rule, "Defensive Driving": Never trust other drivers, pedestrians, animals, etc, to do the right thing. Always expect the unexpected and drive according to the conditions and your surroundings.

Lost of lic. for 19months, great one less idiot on the road!

So what happens if you doin 60ks in a 60 k zone and the same thing happens as your described above??

So does that mean we shouldnt drive at all, just incase if a dog or some little kid runs out??

Edit: whyd u delete your post above ^^^

Im not saying that im a perfect driver.. far from it and so are you all..

but im saying no point saying 'you are stupid and you dont deserve your licence for speeding n shit..'

Coz we all do it.. that is all..

Speed limits are imposed and decreased to make money, nothing else. Any reasons given for speed limits or speed limit decreases are only used to justify the action, not explain it.

If they were serious about speeding causing accidents, they would not fine people but subject them to driver training etc. This just means the rich can speed. Big deal.

The stats I am quoting I will not guarentee but they are certainly in the vicinlty if someone can correct me it would be appreciated:

people killed on NSW roads each 365 days; 600

Population of NSW; 5,000,000

percentage of people that die each year 0.012...

estimate of how many people travel on our roads each day; 3,500,000

mutplied by number of days; 1,277,500,000 people trave on our roads each year (and still only 600 are killed)

in 50% of accidents speed is BELIEVED to be a factor...

of those about 25% of fatalities were not wearing seatbelts

about 20% the driver was under the influence

about 12% the driver was not licensed

so lets assume that 30% of fatalities are speed related (a bit high but I am not good at maths)

this means that as percentage of people that travel on our roads each year the number that die due to speeding is about....

0.000023%

I am not going to say we should do 100k in a 60, however, is it fair to fine so many people so much money when you start looking at the numbers??

(now removing oneself from soapbox and returning very quickly to cave) :)

I think this is a bit shortsighted. You can't actually think that the only reason speed limits are imposed is to make money? Seriously? Would you be comfortable with everyone flying around at 120 past the local shops? The part you could call revenue raising is fining someone for going 63 at the bottom of a hill in a 60 zone.

Also, you lose demerit points when you speed. So the rich can't really speed off into the sunset. BTW 'justify' on dictionary.com: "To demonstrate or prove to be just, right, or valid".

iplen, it's true that speeding gets way more attention than most other things that kill more people, but it's relatively easy to enforce and needs to be enforced (within reason) to keep things in control..

Is this a serious question? :

At 60km/h you will start braking soon, manover at a slower speed, will probably not loose traction, and either stop b4 hitting dog or manover around it safely.

If you seriously had to ask this question, best pull out you pushy and leave the 'line in the garage, we will all be alot safer.

The guys who get them selves wrapped around a pole are obviously the idiots and really should have thier licences revoked -

FYI I was doing 116km/h in a 60km/h zone on a dead straight 4 lane road at 12am. and lost my licence for 19 months (NSW)

I think the obvious idiot here is you. It doesn't matter what time, that kind of speed is wrong. That area is 60 and not 100 for a reason.

Maybe when your balls drop you will realise that.

You do an advance driving course and think your king shit.. more like king of shit.

Grow up mate.

wait till you loose a family member to a speeding driver and see if you have the same feelings then .

this it wont happen to me cause i did advanced driver course is false security .like the other guy said get ya pushey out till ya balls drop

Hello all

Ive driven over 1million kilometres and i still believe a safe driver is a cautious driver.

Always believe there could be a person just about to walk onto the road infront of that car and

you have past the test.

Anyway much to fast to go in a suburban street and ignorant in safety. Get on a f**ken track and

thrash your car silly when u get your licence back so you dont do it on our roads.

There are women children and babies in the cars and on the streets, have a bit of respect for them.

Speed is reserved for track and drag racing, and although i am a constant speeder i rarely go over 20kms

above the speed zone on our streets, because of the rule of caution.56 kms over the limit is careless and

ignorant to believe you'll be right mate....dahhh.....you are lucky they took your license away.

Because you could of killed not only yourself but someone else.

I am glad because they might have saved a life..

Regards

Tekin

STFU and do the limit u fool. the speed limits aint just for driver skill, they take into account that in order for the car to physically stop in time u cannot be doing over a certain speed. unless ur super dooper driving skills cant make a car stop quicker (some situations this is true - granted)

i have also got caught in excess of 10ks over the limt and i accept it, i knew the rules i chose to disobey them, well not really i didnt have a speedo so i didnt know what speed i was doing, but it was my fault for not getting it fixed.

cop it on the chin and let it be a lesson.

Id just like to quickly point out to all the people that have said harsher testing will help.

It wont do bugger all unless it has the training to go with it. They will simply fail and fail and fail until they have the training to pass.

End of the day, what I feel is harsh this guy gets 19months for speeding. Where as a drunk driver might only get 6months if they are a repeat offender. Now that is bad. It needs to refect the crime a bit more.

Dude ok.. WHat im saying is, no matter at what speeds you do, you are still likely to hit someone and injury someone or something seriously. What happens if there are conditions where you cant serve right due to narrow roads or something..

I guess it all depends in the conditions you are in.. Something will always come out unexpected.

But yes obviously doin excessive speeds will take longer to stop and be a little more dangerous. But even 60ks stopping to say 20ks and hitting someone will injure them serverly.

I guess it also depends on luck and chance.

So best method is driver awarness..

in 50% of accidents speed is BELIEVED to be a factor...

Yeah, belief can be a very dangerous thing since there's a wide gulf between belief and reality.

Reality is, speed is a factor in 100% of road accidents.

Exactly.

Its people like this that give the politicians ammunition to say that driver training courses (including a previous NSW Roads minister) make young road drivers even more dangerous than those that haven't been advance driver trained.

Want to know why the RTA and the NSW government won't make advanced driver training courses mandatory (and subsidised) for new drivers? Feel free to direct your complaints to our ex-"four door Godzilla" operator.

It may be 4 lanes wide in points, but if I remember Windsor Road correctly there are houses with driveways facing that road. There are footpaths next to it. There are the occasional petrol station / shop that don't have a slip road to allow joining traffic to match pace before merging.

    • The fab work can be as simple as a couple of silicon hoses and clamps to the factory piping.
    • Just sounds like either way you need to do some fab work to get everything to fit, so why limit yourself at that point? If the GCG high flow option is zero effort in and out swap though I'd probably do that. It's almost certainly lowest risk, lowest cost, etc. The HKS GTIII-RS option that Kapr mentioned is laughably expensive for what it is, they charge the exact same for two turbos on the RB26 so their margins are off the charts on that thing.
    • Intake manifold is not a part of the issue. The turbo bolts to the exhaust manifold. That is easy. But close your eyes and picture the physical situation. That is a T3 flange on the manifold and a T3 flange on the turbo. As long as any new turbo has a T3 flange on the exhaust housing, that exhaust housing will bolt to the exhaust manifold. This places the exhaust housing in the same place as the stock one. But now move your mental attention a little further forward. The location of the compressor housing is set by the length of the turbo's core. The stock turbo had a long core. Let's say that it is..... 100mm long. So that would place the compressor housing 100mm forward of the exhaust housing. But a highflow, might well have a centre core that is shorter. Let's say that it is only 70mm long. Now the compressor housing will be 30mm further back in the engine bay than the stock one. This DOES move the turbo's compressor outlet backwards. It also moves the compressor's inlet backwards. You will very likely have to do some work to both the inlet and outlet piping to make everything connect again. I am not say this to make it out to be a bigger deal than it is. I am just pointing out that "bolt on" is sometimes not quite bolt on. The highflow from GCG that Murray linked above (https://gcg.com.au/turbo-charger-upgrade-skyline-gtst-2iu-xtrgts-s1.html ) uses a core that is the same length as the stock core, and so does not require this extra work. It will look very much like the stock turbo. No-one uses GTR turbos of any flavour (stock, or aftermarket) in a single turbo application on RB20/25. It's not a thing. Yes, people have been putting on GT3076, GTX3076 (and bigger and smaller versions of those) and G30s (of various sizes) onto RB20/25 since forever. But these are not "bolt on". Everything except the 4 bolts to the exhaust manifold change with these. And genuine Garretts are expensive. Non-gen, like Pulsar, etc, are cheaper, variously as good or nearly as good. But still not bolt on. No-one in the right mind would pay for an HKS turbo. Not in this modern day and age. Well, yes, the GCG highflow. You could ask HG what he can do to make the compressor housing sit in the original location. There are surely others doing highflows around the world. And some of the eBay/Temu ones (as reported by Dose) work and don't die. Bit of a lottery though. I would send your turbo to GCG (here in Oz) to be highflowed if you want a trivial no-extra-work option. But seriously, the work required to change inlet and outlet piping is not that hard. That's a boost control problem, not a turbo problem.
    • Thank you all for the replys 🙂 I know that intake would be different but that is one pipe at it is not that hard to get(custom one). I meant mainly bolt to the stock manifold and the turbo elbow. I looked and many sites/forums but they are just "old" with some old HKS turbos from GT-R i guess? What about some Garrets?  Or any other turbo? Is there even a turbo which i can just bolt on? 😄 And yeah i know about that new HKS but that is like 2000k USD without taxes/shipping in here   Iam getting a touch up tune but my "problem" is that on the "not" hot day iam getting peaks around 0,9 bar...and when it was around 15 Celsious i saw peak around 1 bar which is just too much for stock turbo. And of course turbo is old and i like to get some new one for a piece of mind 🙂
    • I'm working on the assumption that our friend Jasmine here is a Russian (or, possibly Ukrainian) spammer/spambot, based purely on the number of such that I have been having to neuter in the last few weeks. IP address for the OP above was in WA. But that could have been via VPN. Posting at quarter to 4 in the morning is a good sign of being from somewhere in Europe. The last Jasmine that I kicked in the cooch was IP addressed in Ukraine. Even that could have been via VPN, and the bitchbot could have been from Russia, Serbia, China or anywhere. Regardless, was a spambot, so I killed it with fire. The fact that our new friend Jasmine here did not respond in any way to my tart query strongly suggests to me that this OP was just the establishment phase of a user able to be activated for spamming in a week, or 3 or 10.
