In your case they DID install the pump correctly... Dont go off on an unrelated path

Bosch warranty covers the cost of the pump (i have one sitting next to me with the warranty seal on it.)

It does not however cover the labour cost, which is unrelated to the installation going by what your saying.

I would expect to pay the diagnosis cost because... there is no warranty on performance, only some of the parts... and then subject to condition.

If Aaron supplied the pump then yes but he didn't so no. Advan supplied the pump and fitted it. Through no fault of their own the pump was faulty and had to be removed and replaced under warranty. They, as the retailer have to wear it, not the customer. They need to factor this possibility into their pricing so that warranties don't cost them.

I have had this exact scenario happen to me on a number of occasions but with computer parts. I bought new, I fitted, it broke, I removed it and refitted another one and I got nothing more than a replacement part from the supplier. I never charge the client as I believe it is my legal obligation to provide a working part for them.

Apart from that I think I have a moral obligation to do the right thing by the customer. It shits me when it happens but it's up to me to price myself appropriately to cover for these eventualities.

yes thank you adam for that comment. morally they should not be charging the customer for a faulty product and should be sending it to the supplier/manufacturer.

But it seems they have charged for this am going to pick up car now..

If workshops factored into everything they do the chance that the part might be faulty...

It's not labour hours, it's the cost of the product that goes up to allow for it.

And besides, all that would happen is that they would just make sure they only used quality suppliers which is why the quality workshops use brand name parts rather than dodgy china crap. They are happy for internet sellers to sell that stuff cos they know they have a high success rate with the brand name stuff. Ie; it just works.

Anyway, Aaron should come on here and give us the final part of the story shortly. Everything was sorted out and there was a complicating issue which hasn't been mentioned already.

All that has happened is that he just found out that owning a GTR isn't cheap.

Yes thats true owning a performance car and modifying unless you know how to do it your self can be very expensive, but thats the whole experience i guess in owning a performance car.

Thanks Adam (abobob) for checking with me muchly appreciated for taking the time and effort. It was and expensive process and after going down to ADVAN and sitting down with Peter he explained what he had to do, and in short it was satisfactory to accept. In the end i think having the process of what they had to do was enough for me. So am happy with what has come out of it. Thanks again to adam, makes it worth it for guys out there who havent joined SAU, the benefits of having other club members who can support/advice.

So i thought everything was sweet with my car..how wrong was I...basically...the hose in the tank that ADVAN used with the new bosch pump( they supposed to have a strainer?) had a big crack at the bottom where its clamped on the pump and that caused to have no fuel pressure ..which equaled to car not starting at all. So that was after calling NRMA out and 3 hrs of wasted time. How lucky that i wasnt on the way down to Wakefield park on saturday afternoon or worse still on the track on sunday. Now would anyone else be pissed off or would it be just me? Contemplating taking it back to them to fix or doing it myself so i know that its done correctly, what do you guys think???????

Aaron you should definately take it back this morning and get them to fix it, and fix it properly.

with the bosch pump it does kinda fit in the tank but the pickup sits much higher than the old pump and it doesn't have a strainer.

If they installed the pump and it was straight up faulty or they hadn't installed it correctly then you shouldn't have to pay the price for them to find the fault.

I'd ask them in a nice tone if they're willing to fix it as the problem is their fault. Hopefully if you're reasonable with them, they're reasonable with you and fix the fault for you. They're human after all, these things do happen. If they are indeed reasonable people and care about their customers they should correct their faulty install for you.

f**k that sucks. this is another reason why i would always go nismo pump over generic bosch ones. the nismo one is so easy to install and fits nicely in the stock spot. The only issue is it's more expensive to purchase and it may not flow quite as much as the 044, but it's still good enough for 400kw at least.

hope they can sort it out for you today, i'm sure they will.

you got that right that sucks.....i didnt go back to them as its abit out of my way to go up there...so i changed it myself so now i know its done right...just hope the hose from pirtek doesnt do the same. Rang advan this morning and wasnt happy using a nice tone to start ..dont think anyone would...explained that they had trouble with the hoses that they were using few times now...and apologetic...offered to change my fuel filter and check the lines again...hope that doesnt void the warranty on the pump since i changed it?

All good now i hope!...When your working on a car on the street with minimal tools to get it going to get home (so lucky my mate was on way home from work and near by and a mechanic), kinda get very annoyed and damn cold lastnite didnt help.

BB i think i should have went for the Nismo pump now..none of these hassles would have occurred. For those that will be at wakefield I"ll bring the hose down with me and can see for yourself. See you guys/girls down there.

Question for you O wise mr nismoid...put yourself in the guys shoes.What your saying is that you would happily pay for a FAULTY part that was supplied by a workshop? i say your stupid. They'd really be able to milk some money out of you wouldnt they. If you are quoted a price to fix something then no matter how many faulty parts they supply it is at the workshops expense. You say that theres never a quarentee on performance....well there is no quarentee on the cost it is to a business. Any good business factors in possible failures otherwise they are up shit creek when something goes wrong. If you want satisfied return customers you wear your mistakes.

mybe you should have kept the old pump in the tank and put the o44 on the out side of the tank with a filter because the new pump will not last long with no filter and i agree they should have not charged you the labour cost for there mistake how come you are making less power now then before
