I am not sure that I understand what the fuss is all about with changing rotor diameters and the effect that has on the pad shape. Sure the inside and outside radius of the pad will be ever so slightly different to the inside and outside radius of the rotor. But is it such a big deal?

The first picture Roy posted shows that he could have used a 2 mm larger diameter rotor with those pads. Noting that there is not really much of a problem with the different radii.

If you are currently using a 280 mm rotor (R32GTST) then you could be using pads shaped for a 280 mm rotor or a 296 mm rotor. There are far more compounds available for R32GTR’s, hence 296 mm rotor. So if you buy GTR pads for your GTST (with its new 324 mm rotors) you are only talking about a 28 mm increase in diameter from where those pads are designed for.

Hardly a big deal, since the same pads work OK on 280 mm versus 296 mm ie; a 16 mm difference.

The next step up would be to use the R34GTT pad which, being designed for a 310 mm rotor, would just about fit perfectly on a 324 mm rotor. I haven’t actual tried R34GTT pads in an R32 (GTST or GTR) calliper. But that could be the answer, to what is not really a big deal anyway.

:D Cheers :D

I spoke to Race Brakes Sydney and they will do the 5000series 2piece for $450ea or 4000series 1 piece for $245 ea better for a group buy. They told me to have a look at the db1170 and db1199 bendix pad and you will see the pad material sits lower on one pad than the other this may or may not be the secret of pad overhang. They are also happy to organise group buys if we can get anything together let them know. They do AP kits and also have the caliper kits for the nissan 4pot calipers and 1 /16 brake master cyl kits as well.

Thankyou very much for the explanation, much appreciated and very logical!

I will get a price for the DBA 5928-1 tomorrow and see where it sits.

Cheers,

Caz.. :action-smiley-069:

Hey Caz,

Did you manage to get a price on this??

Thanks

Dane

Any word on the 33GTS25t adapters for the 324mm disc? Also would these adapters mean that you cant use your standard spare tyre on the front of the car?

cheers

My calliper brackets arrived the other day, they look good

1. solid construction

2. nicely machined out of the appropriate alloy

3. steel hellicoiled threads

4. High tensile allen bolts and spring washers

Picture follows;

I am going to use them with the DBA 5000 series rotors, which I picked up at oran Park last weekend.

Hopefully I will get some time tomorrow to fit them onto the R32GTST, take some pictures and post them up.

:miner: cheers

Has anyone been incontact with caz, i have pm'd him and got no response. I am keen for a set as i have some 324mm rotors here. just a question though, will they fit under the standard 16" wheels on a 32?

not a chance

Do you have R32GTST or R32GTR?

Because the current kit won't fit R32GTST's, Caz is currently working on a new kit for them.

 cheers

:P cheers :woot:

do they work on GTRs though? that's a bit of a shame :( I thought they had been tested/developed for GTST too?

Did you get the last set SK? Any idea on how long untill there is more as per your pics for the r32 gtst?

Cheers :P

hoping this bumps gets this thread some attention....

i want to fit 324mm GTR rotors to my R33Gtst with standard callipers and need the brackets (well depending on how much they are - if they're not too expensive, for sure, if they are, well i don't think the gains will be worth it - but anywaaaaay!)

so does anyone know where you can get this brackets from and approx. cost??

Cheers

I used the Unique Autosports calliper extenders and brake scoops on the R33GTST for the recent SAU day at Wakefield with DBA 324 mm 5000 series rotors, Nismo braided hoses, Castrol Response Super Dot 4 Brake fluid and Bendix Ultimate pads. No problems locking the brakes on demand using Yokohama R tyres even after 2 consecutive 15 minutes sessions. No fade, no shudder, no problems on the day or since.

I will post up some pictures of the installation process and the finished result when I get a chance.

 cheers :domokun:

yep UAS make and sell them. sure they may not be dirt cheap but they use good materials, and have done all the testing and design work for you. www.nismo.com.au

    • A 1.5 way is a 2 way. It is just a 2 way with a less aggressive ramp on overrun.
    • The ABS and/or TCS being missing/broken will not cause the engine to misbehave. It just casues CEL to come on and annoy you. The CEL is useless if it is always on, so you have to do the things you have to do to get rid of it, so it can be useful. Being a Stag ECU, then yes, it will not expect TCS to be present. But it will expect ABS to be present and working. You will need to either make the ABS CU talk to the ECU (don't ask me what that will take on an NA R34), and make sure the hardware is working....or, you just need to blank it out in Nistune. Do not persist with the stock ECU. You will just have problems. Gte it Nistuned. Start from there. DO YOU HAVE A BOOST SENSOR? The ECU's boost sensor that it. It is connected to the loom at the rear of the coil cover. Usually rides on the firewall on an R34, but is usually bolted down to a bracket along with all the other crap at the back of the coil cover when a Neo is dropped into another car. If you do not have it, the ECU will shit the bed. So, do you have one?
    • So sadly the fuel pump etc was not it. The pump and filter is new and it is still cutting around 4000 rpm. A read something about ABS/TCS (engine is from stagea and ECU too so no TCS) and i dont know for 100% that my car has ABS. It has ABS "cube" in engine bay but i dont think it works(or at least from my braking experience). Can be something like that?  I will be driving the car next week to Nistune tuner to properly see what is wrong...
    • the Tomei LSD fluid with lsd kit. frustrated that it was shaking the car to crap and affecting everything else negatively, I pulled the diff last night, and removed the lsd carrier, could not find anything wrong, however it seem to be 100 locked up acceleration, and deacceleration, wondering if they sent me a 2 way not a 1.5??  either way I installed the stock open carrier back in place. test drove everything smooth as butter again. no shake, shutter, random, what felt like clutch slip and grab or drive shaft play, etc. something differently wrong in side the lsd. I might bother taking it apart (if possible) to figure out what's going on inside this carrier, as bought too long ago to return.  only draw back is its back to a one wheel wonder.
