a brand new out of the box gixa 1000 with a good friend of mine a writer for Rapid magazines on his first run ran a low-mid 10, I dont deny that some GTR's can beat bikes due to mine beating my brothers nija zx6 but you get a boosted busa or something of that insane nature and not many things will come close.

in that vid, the guy on the bike lifts the front on the front wheel something major off the line, and at the end of it the bike is catching the car.

my mate has a stock 97 gsx-r 600 and he ran a 11.2 at 120mph. a turbo busa will run 9's, and that is still foot shifting. if you put an air shifter on them they run quicker.

baaa - that aint ownage.

whatever makes you think that little vid of a puss 'vs' a gtr on a public street 'straight' road, is ownage?

bwahahaahah!

the ONLY TWO cars that have ever 'overtaken' me was

a) a little turbo mazda mx3 on a real cold winters morning, down in the sthrn adelaide hills near Myponga - had icing problem with the carbs on my 1996 ZX7R (research it, common complaint with the zx7r's)..... but he was flying, I never knew a little car like that could go that fast - mist have had awesome suspension as the roads were very 'floaty'.............and....

b) a early 2000 model Porsche GT3 thru the twisites in summer headn towards Strathalybn, I was on the Fireblade prior to doing the suspension, and this driver was an absolute nutter, mad driver, all over the road, very dangerous - there was no way I was going to attempt to overtake him back, he almost had 2-3 headons. was top fun but, shaking my head watching him racing to stay ahead!

During the 70,000km Ive ridden thru the Adelaide Hills on my 750cc, 899cc & 919cc sportsbikes, all Ive ever seen in my rear vision mirror is:

the eternal squabble - 4 wheels vs 2...

look at the power to weight - especially an R1, and the straight line equasion is fairly clear - in the dry.

dial in some corners, some water and some practicality, and then you have an argument.

been down to whoop-ar$e wednesday at kwinana and watched the bikes and the cars. yeah the bikes, standard, are faster. but they're bikes. different beast.

if all you want is straight line speed get a bike. you want to have a comfortable, all weather, stereo equipped, warm, girlfriend friendly transport, thats fast, fun and protects you from isiots who run stop signs, get a gtr.

btw, i also own a bike - and yes, i love it. its no more or less fun, its just different.

and a lot easier to squeeze thru traffic.

Hi,

Off the lights a highly powered gtr would beat a bike. Why? my bf says its to hard to launch a bike off the line unless you are really experienced. The average rider would not risk it in launching the bike off the line as it could overturn.

And a gtr dial in 7000rpm and he's gone...

Different story if its a rolling start on a highway or something. Im pretty sure a hayabusa and a 9sec gtr rolling along the highway the hayabusa would get it or r1 or zx12r and so on.

My father in laws hayabusa kills the powerr to weight ratio of a 900hp gtr if it was say 1300kgs.

Just my 2c , oh and my bf's.

Different Beasts, & i love em both

i've seen a skilled rider (deinately not me) run an 1100 Gixxer at Willowbank into the high 9's, no wheelie bars & didn't get the front wheel up at all. now that's talent! Love to see that up against a tried & prooven 9sec GTR..............that would be awesome!

but as for you 11.5sec & above GTR boys.................my Duke & just about any other liter bike on the road is gonna Smoke you in a straight line!!

Corners..................now that's a different story!!

the gtr would only be ahead for the first few meters. after that the bike will close the gap fast and over take it. i have a video somewhere with a race on a track between a porsche gt3 and a bike (not sure what but i think it is a r1). they are both professional drivers. overall i think they finish pretty close together. the porche is better through the corners, but down the straights the bike eats it.

lol @ comparing hugely modded car with stock bike

What's even funnier is hearing the excuses following a massively modded car getting owned by a bike that has nothing but a bolt-on turbo kit running 9psi and exhaust/airbox work... hahahaha

    • Sorry to hear your HFM BM57 was faulty,  did you contact HFM I would hope they would be at least grateful for the information if there was some sort of manufacturing fault, you would hope they would be sympathetic even if your item was 2 years old if it had never been fitted. May I ask where it leaked from ?
    • Cats are called Bella, and Donna...  Like that poisonous plant And I remember your 2 monsters, I remember making a little bit of wee when you let them out... LOL I have already installed cat doors into the laundry where their kitty litter is, and the sun room, apart from the cat doors there's not going to be any permanent mounted stuff on the interior walls (interior doors are cheap and easy to replace) I will get a outdoor cat cage thingie once I finish the landscaping out back... https://catnip.com.au/ The only off limit areas are the main bedroom and the gym room....but, currently the cats are curled up in bed, in the main bedroom with the Mrs.....LOL, the off limits for the kittens to the main bedroom lasted about 5 minutes with Jackie I currently only have 1 free standing huge cat tree multiple level scratching post thingie in the lounge room, but, I will be getting another one soon now that I'm happy with the furniture layout in the back room and have a perfect spot for it
    • All of this is making it seem clear that running the Coppermix twin was definitely the way to go, especially in hindsight with how insane tariffs have gotten and the strength of the USD vs yen at the time.
    • That sounds like no chance of even importing one for road registering then Now I see why Duncan wants to check LHD rules for Targa...   I wonder how "bolt in" the AWD would be if you got one imported from the US and swapped it to an AUD one
    • Not to mention they drive like a bucket of bolts! yuck!
