Gotta Agree Parking fines are f**ked.

Earlier this year I received one while at Jeff's shed. ( 7.36pm on a sunday night). I had paid parking, and due to the vehicle being a company car I have to keep all cash receipts to claim back. ( beleive me, they add up each month). So I can produce the original parking slip detailing the times and dates covered.

After contacting the council and advising them of this, faxing it through 7 times, 9 seperate letters, a final letter of demand for resolution and about 20 odd phone calls later, they have advised me ( in writing) they are unable to overturn or reverse the fine, and i would need to take the matter to a magistrates court ( at my cost) to have the matter dealt with.

And why? Because after all the stalling they did with requesting faxes, letter and my call backs, i had not applied in a "timely enough" manner for them.

The court costs, legal costs and my own cost from time off work is just not worth pursueing these shit eating maggots through the courts for what started out as a $80 Fine. ( now plus costs)

It really makes me want to grab a sniper rifle, some armour peircing rounds and some semtex or c4 (plastic explosive) and teach a very clear lesson to those parking inspectors and their bosses.

Had a severe deterioration of the back injury, took 20min to walk 150m and the pricks watched me hobbling across the street then gave the fine just as I arrived.
unfortunatly its all digital these days, but back when they used to use books... man many years ago, people would chase the inspectors down, do a run by and snatch the book...

YEAH!! I so wanted to do that!!!! :)

An old friend is a councillor in a neighbouring city and when Melbourne took over the Southbank region they were short $6M in revenue from rates. Instead of increasing rates slightly they upped the parking rates massively and sent in the parking inspectors to fill the gap.

Going to magistrates court isn't that hard, and their should be no costs unless you are given like a $30 court cost if you loose. All it takes is a half day off work, suit up and sit in the court waiting to be called. (only an hour if your called first) and tell the magistrate your story, and why you believe the fine should be reversed.

Your case will only be heard for like 2mins, then the magistrate will decide.

Chances are it will be going on lunch time and after he's heard from 20+ drink driving re-offenders, your parking story will be weak and instantly reversed. Also make sure that if you have proof or witnesses, then that may help too. I had a stupid fine reversed this way.

Also listening to other loosers story's in court is quite amusing.

But bottom line - council's don't care, magistrate's are a push over.

Just dont pay em, the sheriff is busy enough as it is chasing bigger debts.

They might send you a few sooky letters but they never follow up.

Actually, if you don't pay, it can affect your credit rating.

Means it's that little bit harder to do anything that involves a credit check.

Like a loan, a mobile phone, a credit card, a rent agreement....

It's better to work through the system.

I know with road offences you can just sign the back and ask for it to be heard in the magistrates court. Then they send you a summons. But not sure how you would request this one be heard. Ring the council and ask for the matter to be heard in court.

You wont believe how easy it is to resolve things this way.

hah yeah. gf's brother had parking fines sent to them, 3 in 3 consecutive days for parking somewhere in the city. But thier car had never been to the city, and on those 3 days, she was at work in noble park with her car. They had to get letters and stat decs signed by people at her work saying she was there etc... of course it wasn't that easy, there was lots of other shit involved.

Write a letter, tell them to get stuffed and if you dont received a response your happy with Just don't pay the fines. I know some councils send threatening letters to you, but never actually do anything about it.

Great White sized fish James?

Indeed :D

Definitely going to need a bigger boat. And some dynamite. And Roy Scheider.

Spoke to council though - have the details to escamalate this to their legal dept. Will be sending my hearing request later in the week.

yes but not long ago they did a roadside blitz out in airport west to catch all those people with outstanding warrants for not paying their parking fines.. might not be a problem now but the next time you get pulled over.. they can actually arrest you, so 'dont pay the fines' is really bad advice (no offence)..

Also I had a sheriff turn up to the door once with a warrant looking for a previous tenant so it does happen..

I pay by bpay so I make like $10 payments and then they send you a letter saying you cant make part payments, please pay the (fine minus $10) in another 14 days from date of this letter.. keeps getting extended for months with no fees.. >_<

there's no middle step process? it's pay it or court?

There probably is middle steps, but they only exists for councils to bully around 'the little guy'. I sez take it above their heads and show em the size of your russian lada wang!

    • What does it look like with highway driving? And yes, I had a similar thought as Duncan. It looks quite similar in my Stagea and I have made myself accept it as normal. Might have to look into it some day
    • While I was waiting for the new parts to come in for the charge pipe and radiator I decided to do some turbo modification. The drive pressure (exhaust backpressure) was a lot higher that I thought it should be. For 32lbs of boost drive was 55lbs. The turbine housing is a 1.10AR and my turbo builder has suggested to go to a 1.25AR. To test if a larger AR would do anything to reduce drive pressure AND not spend any money I decided to hog out the divider in my current housing. I removed it from the inlet and the whole way through the housing.  After reassembly and testing it doesn't look like this modification did anything for reducing drive pressure or requiring more fuel (making more power). Oh well, it was worth a shot. We'll get some data at the track if it makes it past the 60ft. I also machined a $7 shift knob off Amazon to fit my Stillway shifter since I didn't like the Stillway shift knob. Next on the list was the radiator replacement and fabrication of a new intercooler tube that had no silicon coupler. No pictures of this - I was short on time each night after work to get this done and didn't stop to take pictures.  Next was to get the clutch disks out and replaced. Previously when installing the dogbox I had ordered a set of the same sintered iron disks I had been running because I switched to the 26-spline input shaft. I thought it was odd that they didn't have any markings or brand name on them like all my old disks had but installed them anyway. At the track I could not get the clutch to lock up using my normal strategies. After two track nights I reached out to the clutch manufacturer and ask their thoughts. They said they had to switch the material out because they were having trouble getting the original material and that this new material would not take to being slipped very well.  So out with the first set of 26-spline disks and in with the correct material 26-spline disks. While I had the trans out I added an inspection/service hole. I've wanted one of these for a while. Now I can have a look at things and change the front cover shimming when needed (clutch wear). I hustled and got the clutch change done in a few hours on a Saturday. Hopped in the car and drove home. On the way home I did a 1-3 pull. When shifting from 2nd to 3rd the core plug in the back of the cylinder head popped out and dumped all the coolant. Thankfully I was only 30 seconds from home and coasted it there. Datalog showed nothing unusual and 2.5psi of coolant pressure. That plug has been in there since 1992 but I guess it worked its way out. Pulled the trans AGAIN and replaced the plug, JB welded it in, and made a brace. Also deleted the head drain I had added in during the bearing issue fiasco.  I am currently changing my boost control plumbing to make it cleaner. After that is done I'll make another attempt at getting past the 60.
    • Are you 100% sure this isn't tune related?
    • 140-150 across the board. At this point hoping the grounding harness fixes it. My grounds are all tied to the chassis and none to the battery. For SR and KA that’s never been a problem for me but had a few other guys here and Reddit who told me RB really like a very solid ground setup tied to the battery so going to try that next, I’m stumped if that doesn’t do it. Never had a car have spark and fuel and not fire off before. Only thing I can think is the spark is intermittent/weak because of grounds nothing else really makes sense at this point
    • I am having close to the same issue. Can you help me with what wire you grounded to get your pump to trigger?
