:) Hay all you skyline fans, ive got my skyline finally in my drive way. i took another look under my bonnet and i thought to my self that it just gonna be to expensive to make it a sleeper, so i thought to my self about making it look nice, like changing the radiator hoeses to the steel braided ones, but woundering what else i can do to make it look clean nice and give it a bit of wow factor.

youll find busting out some good metal polish and a mini buffer bit on a drill will make it look a milliopn bucks.

Dont go crazy with degreaser cos youll make all your fan belts squeak etc. You can pick up a stainless braiding kit to go over your stock piping for 50 bucks - always good. Get a pod with a tip that matches the colouring on your braiding. Good scrub of the strut towers.

anything that looks nasty, take it off, degrease it, paint it, throw it back on.

Amour all on your black piping an wiring. DOnt put on so much that its greasy and sticky...

get a load of this -

get yourself a pod, a set of extractors, a 2.5' exhaust, and that should see it running better, and will take heaps of flogging provided its not in shit condition. then you can bolt on VLT gear, out in a vlt motor, put in a rb20, 25, or 26, or 25 heads on the 3l block, CA if its a pinny (engine xmember), plenty of potential in these cars, which is great seeing the purchase price is about the same as a set of chromies.

and there are some insanely clean r31 engine bays out there too..

And here is my very messy Rb30et...

Colour coding the car and some nice rims for a start makes a big difference..Really depends how much money you want to spend....

interesting, battery on the right??...

before i put the rb25det into my r31 i got a can of black heat paint off a mate and went nuts on everything, before that i just had the rocker cover painted in a bright blue, left that as is and the rest went black, things like the power steering resivor and the wiper motor, i had blue leads aswell... looked good.... IMO...

the rb25 has a dark blue block, head and rocker covers, all the rest i've painted in a rough finish bronze (for lack of a better work), you can get a huge range of heat paint colours now... i say go nuts....

The reason Kels Battery is on the right is, with the cooler piping it would not fit on the left side of the engine bay, and as we have 2 kids (1 is 4 months old) we need all the boot space we can get.

    • My apologies. I forgot we were talking about weird beard M series stuff. Had been talking elsewhere with someone about an R33 with similar subject and got confused.
    • Nope, I don't like the look of ND RF, or any ND really, I don't like their faces or arses, why, because of their "modern" lines, the NC, whilst "modernish" has a more rounded shape that I like Well, that's how my overly judgemental eyes see it anyway
    • Should be more than fine, especially the overall fuel pressure would never exceed 3.5bar (assuming that thing never gets more than 0.5bar of boost in stock form). According to the chart, it's 11amps.
    • I definitely know the first rule here, look first, ask second. I've seen many people get roasted 😂 I found a few diagrams for the RB, but I'm yet to come across one for the VQ. From what I have read, the pump gets the +12v along with the FPCM, and it's the negative wire that gets passed through the resistor to regulate the voltage. So I assume I can just ground the negative wire at the pump to eliminate the FPCM control. But I really wanted to see the VQ circuit diagram first to make sure I understood it correctly. Once the new pump is in I'll do some testing to see how it behaves, and in the meantime, I'll keep looking for a wiring diagram. Thanks for your help mate, your time is greatly appreciated.
    • Maybe? I have the Supercheap ToolPro low thingo. It has a somewhat smaller diameter lifting "bowl" than you would expect on a workshop grade trolley jack, and a split rubber pad to suit that diameter. It clears the "N1" style skirts I have. Probably wouldn't if the jack's bowl and a suitably larger rubber block were in use. Having said that though.....you only need the rubber block to exist on the inner side of the pinchweld, so could carve away any rubber that fouled the skirt, leaving some there for "insurance" </simples>
