I dont believe bhp = rwhp

brake horsepower is power measured at the flywheel as on an engine dyno

and rear wheel horsepower is that figure less any drivetrain losses.

So dirt garage made about 540hp at the wheels(4) on that setup.

thats just outright horsepower as in hp...i was always of the understanding that bhp was at the wheels i.e. the brakes.

we also made between 443 and 467 on the same setup using race fuel.....depending on the day/dyno/boost levels.

A general rule of thumb for (manual) drivetrain loss for newish cars is:

AWD 18%

RWD 14%

FWD 12%

So for RWD -

Given that 700cc~700hp

700hp - 14% = 602rwhp (~449rwkw)

No...

drive train loss is NOT A PERCENTAGE

its a pretty much fixed figure, give or take a hp due to oils/wear..

real loss figures are like this

AWD, it varies system to system, i believe the atessa setup sucks about 70hp out of it

RWD, 25-30hp

FWD 30-40hp

add to it you will lose more power if your driving an auto, but its about 10-20hp extra..

% loss figures are utter crap, and not to be believed, if your going to quote a %, use a sliding scale for loss compared to power, do not just have a flat % value as your loss, as its totally and utterly wrong..

I realise the percentage calculations method is flawed but, its a quick way to get a good guesstimate.

BTW RWD has slightly more of a drivetrain loss than FWD.

no, brake horsepower is the measure of the power without any ancilarries (no alternator, no gearbox, no air con etc etc). it doesn't have anything to do with the brakes

cool...i can go home now....ive learnt something.

yeah i'm a fountain of knowledge... well i'm a fountain of something. lol

i think SAE measured HP is done with all ancillaries for the car it is to be installed into and power is measured as what is being delilvered to the flywheel. it's more common now than BHP.

    • haha don't worry I'm sue you've got more fun ahead buying a 30 year old turbo car....but at least you are in the right place to ask
    • some days eh? The keyless entry and interior light on/off with the key will be controlled by the Body Control Module, but I'm not certain where that is or what it looks like (you might get lucky with a search to get a part#, which could be printed on it). I'd start at the A pillar/ Under dash/kick panel on the driver's side
    • It might be hit and miss, but Nissan Genuine Parts and Pitworks are not the same thing, although both are available from Nissan Dealers with Nissan Part Numbers. Nissan Genuine Parts are the OEM stuff, Pitworks are their attempt to get people back from generic parts makers
    • I did end up getting it sorted, as GTSBoy said, there was a corroded connection and wire that needed to be replaced. I ended up taking out the light assembly, giving everything a good clean and re-soldered the old joints, and it came out good.
    • Wow, thanks for your help guys 🙏. I really appreciate it. Thanks @Rezz, if i fail finding any new or used, full or partial set of original Stage carpets i will come back to you for sure 😉 Explenation is right there, i just missed it 🤦‍♂️. Thanks for pointing out. @soviet_merlin in the meantime, I received a reply from nengun, and i quote: "Thanks for your message and interest in Nengun. KG4900 is for the full set of floor mats, while KG4911 is only the Driver's Floor Mat. FR, RH means Front Right Hand Side. All the Full Set options are now discontinued. However, the Driver's Floor Mat options are still available according to the latest information available to us. We do not know what the differences would be, but if you only want the one mat, we can certainly see what we can find out for you". Interesting. It seems they still have some "new old stock" that Duncan mentioned 🤔. I wonder if they can provide any photos......And i also just realized that amayama have G4900 sets. I'm tempted too.
