Have seen a few threads around recently... either asking the best way to put a screamer on a std internally gated turbo... and seen alot more screamer type dumps available.

what's the deal? even though they sound crap, is this the new thing? will someone make some for my GTR?

is this the new under-car neons / backwards stickers on the front doors?

Mate are you serious...... do you think they sound like crap? The benifit is quicker spool up thus more power earlier by keeping the exhaust gases seperate and reducing turbulance in the exhaust pipe witch puts less stress on the exhuast wheel, not too mention the crazy sound  hope that helps mate

That's the biggest load of shit I've ever heard.

How does a screamer pipe give you quicker spool up?

It only works once the turbo has already spooled up and the wastegate has opened, it gives you better top end, yes. But unless you're running 400+ hp, theres no point, especially through the stock turbo.

Less stress on the exhaust wheel? How does an atmo venting wastegate do that?

Crazy sound? it sounds like an exhaust leak.

Mate are you serious......

yes.

yes.

no.

Yes my mistake, you are right about the spool up part...... but i wouldnt say its pointless. For instance BATMBL's split dump pipes have been dyno proven to make more power in the top end, even though his plumbs back into the exhaust the idea is essentially the same. As for the sound, some like it and some dont..........

mmmmmmm, wet fart.

Using BATMBL's dumps is the same thread as int gated screamers is wrong.

Thats comparing apples & oranges as they are not the same thing save for maybe the materials they are made from.

Marcus, its the latest thing as you said. Its come with the whole "drifting" thing thats going on of late. Noticed that "everyone" these days seems to be drifting?

It will pass, hopefully sooner rather than later.

Stock turbo + screamer = pointless

keep it internally gated...... ive had the screamer .. as much as i loved it , it goes better with it plumbd up and the EPA doesnt wana see me again. just seems to feel better down low and at the top end now.

if u want wank factor... they are the winnah by a long stretch.....

GROUP BUY IN ASSORTED ANODISED COLOURS :D:):D

External gates sound tough ,but for street not really a great idea, the fine is like 10k or something like that.

but you may never get caught but yas know how it is and i guess just not worth all the hastle

on a stocker, i thought about it at one stage but yeah ,had to be realistic.

But on the same note i have also read the having you pipe plum back in would create

more scavangning and would actually increse exhaust flow speed in plumed correctly.

Anyhow that is my 2cents

goodnight all

I wouldnt worry too much, I wouldnt be suprised if in the next 12 - 18 months the "street-drag" scene in Japan comes alive again with RH9, 0-300, drag style events. Then everyone will be back to loud exhausts and stickers :D

Is it still a screamer pipe if it plumbs back into the exhaust pipe? Just about to install a split dump....will I get a different sound to it or is the different sound only apply to screamers that don't plumb back into the pipe...

Cheers,

(BTW Stock internal w/gated turbo)

a screamer is when it DOESNT go into the exhaust, hence it screames when the air is vented out to atmosphere,

ben...

Thank god. Cheers mate. I love the sound of my car..I dont want it to change :whistling:

    • Ok I get you. But isn’t the butterfly intake a headache with the +T?  see this is my plan so far but please advise me into the right direction.  Nistune Ecu, 1000cc Bosch injectors, TD05 or TD06 Kinugawa turbo using stock rb25det exhuast manifold, walbro fuel pump unsure of model I think it’s 450/460, spitfire coils and sparks to suit and a R35 MAF sensor and boost sensor.    I was thinking maybe do a cheap eBay plenum $400-500 or try find a stock det neo intake. I think I’d port match it so it’s getting the full capacity but open to advice please.  Thanks
    • The issue now is the 'fuel cut' while driving, and when it happend, it does not stall. This, I did not test the fuel pressure while driving as I cannot with a fuel pressure gauge. I do have Nistune logs, yes. I have also replaced the MAF Sensor.   Also related to the FPG Fuel Hanger – I just realized that I need a Deutsch Crimp Tool to crimp some cables for the FPG Fuel Hanger. Need to purchase additional cables as the kit only included 2, which are for the float. FPG has not responded to my emails so far since purchasing. I thought about taking it to someone and having it done professionally, but I am reluctant since everyone I took it to messed up in some way.
    • There's a good German place in Brisbane if youre up for the drive 😛
    • The German place in Cabramatta was rock solid, fresh pretzel cooked to order back then. Then it went all quiet, after all the poker machines were removed, then I believe it closed for good. I did drive past the other week and noticed outdoor lighting a big screen, but no idea what is there now.
    • Yeah I suspect even if you hold airmass per cycle/cylinder constant if you get too far away from stock you're still going to have problems running the factory tune within the bounds of the factory load scale. Cams, different displacement/rod ratio, etc. I'm just lucky that the GTIII-SS with wastegate boost + CA compliance cats is pretty much equivalent to stock turbos. When I have actual space I can finally get it tuned and modify the fuel system for flex fuel to 100% handle any detonation concerns when cranking the boost to whatever those dinky turbos can put out.
