I have a R33 GTS-t with the stock 4-pot calipers and freshly machined discs.

I read arround the forums that the stock OEM brake pads have these anti-Squeal shims

My mechanic told me that these are missing from all 4 corners of my brake assembly.

So does anyone know where I can find replacement for these?

because my brakes Squeal like banshees, can be heard from miles away.

They are even worse once I replaced the pads with a set of Endless SSS pads

that's gold. where do i buy genuine nissan parts??? hmmmm. nissan?

oh cut me some slack, just wanted to make sure all the bases were covered ehheh

Anyway,

Part Code: 41080K

Part Number: 41080-21U25 "HARDWARE KIT - FRONT DISC BRAKE PAD"

thanks for that MerlinTheHapyPig

Is this for the pad kit? would it be possible to just get shims?

cheers

according to the pic i posted. This includes the backing plates, the anti-squeel plates, a couple of funny clip things and some paste or grease of some description (you'll see there are lines coming from the Part Code highlighted in red on the diagram)

Pads are a separate number - part code 41000K includes the pads and the wire clip. Part Code 41092 is for the spring.

I think they are separate, ask the nissan dealer (price should be a good indication. I'd expect the shims to cost aound $30 or so, the pads would be at least $60 per side.

I had to buy that damn spring (41092) and it was around $10, anyway, see how you go.

or.. you cold drop into a subaru dealer and ask one of the mechanics for some shims of a wrx. (the same) as you get new shims with new subi pads :D and i had a sizable pile of them i through out aopn leaving

Im about to try this out, is there any specific model of WRX I should look for? which year? or are they all the same?

pretty much any sumitomo 4 pot caliper aka db1170 brake pad.

sooo... toyota landcruiser/hilux

subaru wrx 98--->current

nissan s14/15/skyline obvoiusly etc etc

just pop ito a dealer. ive got some anyway in my tool box.

you dont really need them anyway. if they are squeeling badly it the pad compound anyway. just grease up the parts wich come into contact with the caliper with moly lube. also chamfer the edges of the pad(take the sharp edge off the leading and trailing edge of the pad. and de-glase them by rubbing the pads on a flat concreete surface.

Hey Bl4cK32, was wondering if you could describe where parts 3&4 go in the brake assembly? I cant really tell from the nissan FAST software picture

OK this is from memory, but:

1. goes in between the pad and number 2.

2. goes in between number 1 and the pistons pushing on the pad. ( ie install #2, #1, then pad on one side)

3. is tha clip that #6 goes through. It clips to the end of the pad to hold 1, 2 and the pad together. Sort of hard to explain without seeing a workshop manual. Search here for it, or ill dig one up.

4. is the copper grease. Put a schmear between each shim, and the back of the pad.

People say u dont need em, but ive never had pad sqeal (with rb74's) and ive never chamfered the edge of the pads.

Its really catching on isn't it..

Me too, beats me why they would be left out in the first place, speshly

when the squeak is soo annoying.

I'll be hassling one and all for a set asap!!!!!!!!!

I located the correct Part numbers for the HARDWARE KIT from Nissan (R32 GTR/Z32 300ZX).

FRONT: 41080-40P27

REAR: 44080-43P25

The each kit includes: shims, clips, grease.

MELB: City Nissan (Parts), 189 Arden St, PH: 03 8359 2244

Hope this helps anyone!

    • I'm back from the dyno - again! I went looking for someone who knew LS's and had a roller dyno, to see how it shaped up compared to everything else and confirm the powerband really is peaking where Mr Mamo says it should. TLDR: The dyno result I got this time definitely had the shape of how it feels on the road and finally 'makes sense'. Also we had a bit more time to play with timing on the dyno, it turns out the common practice in LS is to lower the timing around peak torque and restore it to max after. So given a car was on the dyno and mostly dialled in already, it was time for tweaking. Luis at APS is definitely knowledgable when it came to this and had overlays ready to go and was happy to share. If you map out your cylinder airmass you start seeing graphs that look a LOT like the engine's torque curve. The good thing also is if you map out your timing curve when you're avoiding knock... this curve very much looks like the inverse of the airmass curve. The result? Well it's another 10.7kw/14hp kw from where I drove it in at. Pretty much everywhere, too. As to how much this car actually makes in Hub Dyno numbers, American Dyno numbers, or Mainline dyno numbers, I say I don't know and it's gone up ~25kw since I started tinkering lol. It IS interesting how the shorter ratio gears I have aren't scaled right on this dyno - 6840RPM is 199KMH, not 175KMH. I have also seen other printouts here with cars with less mods at much higher "kmh" for their RPM due Commodores having 3.45's or longer (!) rear diff ratios maxing out 4th gear which is the 1:1 gear on the T56. Does this matter? No, not really. The real answer is go to the strip and see what it traps, but: I guess I should have gone last Sunday...
    • 310mm rotors will be avilable from Australia, Japan, and probably a few other places. Nothing for the front can be put on the back.
    • The filter only filters down to a specific size. Add to that, the filter is AFTER the pump. So it means everything starts breaking your pump even if its being filtered out.
    • Just like in being 14mm too small (296mm) makes it not fit, being 14mm too big (324mm) it also won't fit. You want to find the correct rotor.
    • @GTSBoy Ok so that was the shops problem...they showed R33 rotors on R34 page and i did not know 296 do not fit(and are for R33) Yes i bought "kit" with rotors and pads. Pads are ok(i have GTT calipers front and rear). They have some 324mm but no 310mm. So i dont know if they would fit. I have 17inch LMGT4s So another question. Can i fit those in the rear or they are just "too" big for that?
