THIS IS NOT FOR A SKYLINE:

I need to borrow 4 rims and tires for a Mitsubishi Lancer. The ones that came with the car put the track off by 20mm, and also didnt have the right load rating (only 500kg not 530).

I borrowed a set off a mate of mine, but they didn't pass either, the rolling diameter was out... (They were 70s i need 65s).

This is what i am after, either to borrow stock MR lancer mags (most idea option but they must be the STOCK ones, and have the correct tire width and height), or else the specific ones on the tire placard:

185/65R14's with a load rating no less than 86 (530kg), and a speed rating of no less than H. The rim size is 5.5J.

Please get back to me asap if can help me out. THANKS!

Any one? Need to sort this out by the end of this week!

Yeah, tis a bit of a bitch, no wreckers have them, nor ezy scrap. I wish i knew some one with one, but dont atm...

The ones i borrowed from a mate had the 70's not 65's so didnt pass...

Looks like we may have to buy 4 crap cheap arse tires for this.....

Ended up buying some second hand ones with bout 90% tread for $55 a corner. bit better than $71-75 for the cheapest new ones.... Will have to do, and when we can afford it, will get nicer rims and tires for the car again.

Pack it with foam or some shit haha

I was told to put some metal flyscreen gauze stuff in the pipe somewhere where it can't be seen by inspectors and that should help muffle it more.

Just DON'T Flogggg the Carp out of it !

yes I said carp. Here fishy fishy fishy...

The metal flyscreening is best and as long as dont flog it then it will not be an issue, and it is easy to clean out and remove after.

The other thing you can use is the big loop sturdy steel wool. We used that stuff in our motorbike at home for years so as not to piss off the neighbours when we road it around the yard as kids.

  • 4 weeks later...

Heya everyone!

So I had a preemptive check done on my car for rego.

Got the over 9000 window tint removed but now I need a set of stock r34 wheels with good tread (apparently my wheels are too wide) and a stock exhaust or a quieter cannon I could buy off someone.

If anyone wants to help me out I can repay you with you favorite beverage or swing a few spendoolies your way.

So glad I got a week long permit and not just a day long one.

Wicked! I'm just going to see tomorrow if an exhaust shop can just chuck a resonator in my current system because I know one has been taken out but if I can't get that done in time...

Hey guys,

did not even notice this thread!

Does anyone have a stock or quiet catback exhaust for an R32 GTS/GTST that me and my dad could borrow for his car to pass roadworthy? We tried the steel wool trick and it still failed

Cheers!

Hey all, I had some stock wheels sorted but the guy will be away on my days off (tomorrow and thursday) Does anyone happen to have a set of stock r34 rims they could swap for mine while i get my rego check?

cheers,

Andy B

Hey guys does anyone have a torque wrench I can borrow on the weekend? Me and dad are swapping the whole from suspension/hub assembly on his 32 and looking at the service manual we're gonna need a torque wrench lol.

Cheers,

Drew

    • just an update to this, poor man pays twice  Tried sanding down the pulleys but it didnt do the trick. Chucked another second hand alternator in the na car which I got for free off my mate and its fixed the squelling. Must have been unlucky with the bearings.    As for my turbo car, I managed to pick up a cwc rb alternator conversion bracket + LS alternator for 250 off marketplace, looked to be in really good nick. Installed it , started the car and its not charging the battery.... ( Im not good with auto elec stuff so im not sure if this was all I needed to do but I verified such by using a multimeter on the battery when the engine was running and I was only getting 12.2v )   I had to modify the earth strap for the new LS alternator , factory earth strap was a 10mm bolt which did not fit the bolt on the LS alternator which was double the size so I cut it off , went to repco bought some ring terminals that fit, crimped it onto the old earth strap and bolted it up to the alternator , started the car and same issue. Ran like shit and was reading 12.2 at the battery.  For a "plug and play" advertised kit thats not very plug and play but alas.  My question is , am I missing something ? Ive been reading that some people recommend upgrading the stock 80 amp alternator fuse to a 140 amp but I dont see how that would stop the alternator charging especially at idle not under load.  Regardless ive pulled it out and am going to get it bench tested by an auto elec tomorrow but it would be handy to know if ive missed something silly or have done something wrong.
    • My wild guess is that you have popped off an intake pipe....check all of the hoses between the turbo and the throttle for splits or loose clamps.
    • Awesome, thanks for sharing!
    • To provide more specific help, more information is needed. What Android screen? What is its wiring diagram? Does the car's wiring have power at any required BAT and ACC wires, and is the loom's earth good?
    • So, now all you need to do is connect the 2 or 3x 12v feeds into the unit to permanent 12v, ACC 12V and IGN 12V that you can find in the spot behind the stereo, and the earth, and then it will switch on with the car.
