Well if you're buying it without a RWC, you have to factor in the costs of obtaining a RWC as well....

has race pace checked it out yet?

Sorry forgot to mention that it comes with RWC and full compliance (rear light pending depending which spoiler i choose)

Racepace is booked for tomorrow.

Also, if you are buying it from a dealer remember you do have the compulsory 3 month warranty.

He might not have mentioned it but you get 3 months warranty with car purchases if the price is over $3k or something. Correct me if I'm wrong though, it was a while since i looked into it.

Its weird, he is technically not a dealer, just a compliancer. I think a dealer needs a license and hence that 3month warranty and 3 day cooling period would apply.

Found out that you can just de-tach the spoiler and leave the brackets on the boot so if its too rice/cop trouble i can just pop it off.

I havent confirmed any purchase with the seller yet, so i will be contacting him later tonight. There is still the whole issue about the degassed aircon working and who pays the rego.

When i was talking previously to the seller he said that if racepace finds any problems he will give back my deposit in cash straight away unlike the other dealer who has yet to send the check....

just a word of advice, what people say they'll do, and what they actually do in the event it comes to that, are 2 completely different things....dont take his word for anything...get it in writing, that you both sign, with a witness etc.

as for the spoiler, this is what it looks like when removed leaving the brackets in place on al's car....

it'd be even more discreet on a black car, so that part works in your favor.

aircon is part of compliance as far as i knew... not some "special" extra thing just for you - it's just standard, and if done properly, you have to regas... actually it should have a regas certificate before it even enters the country, if i remember correctly.

my 33 compliance didnt...and i havent heard/read of it being included in anyone elses...

I turned on the air-con to find it did not work..Lucky it was in the 3 month period that i noticed and had the dealer send out some one for me.

They will try anything to save money.

Same thing happend with the battery....dead as after 3 days..they were jump starting, for over 4 weeks.

$80 battery and their still trying to save some money. Anyway called RACV they charged $129 and then i gave the receipt to the dealer and got my money.

They take short cuts and hope you wont come back .

You must have all these things looked at.A air-con tech. will have a sticker close to the rad. letting you know who did the regassing and when. Make sure it is there.Get the battery tested...its for free at most centres.

:)

DO NOT hand anything over until racepace have looked it over..

DO NOT agree to anything, from what you've said you already put a deposit down, so just wait until someone's gone over it..

Sounds like a good deal, however you should be able to do a bit better (but everyone always says that I guess)..

Good luck with it tomorrow, don't rush into anything.. From the sounds of it you'll be going through with it though.. get him to get it registered and than drive away!!..

As for "compliancers" selling cars.. I had the same thing.. if you sell more than 9 cars/year in NSW than technically your a dealer.. and need to have a license..

Reasons for not being licensed - they don't have to give 3 months warranty.. that's a huge one.. they just get someone to buy them.. they compliance.. than sell on behalf of the person who originally brought it in..

That applies to you because you got your car from a dealer...

I imported my car for me....It was de-gassed in japan, in accordance with the rules....

Compliance doesn't include re-gassing of the aircon, and its not up to them to replace my dead battery either...I did that when I got the car home :)

Had a chat to him just then, tried to get him to throw in rego/stamps for same price but was not happy with letting it slip for $13k. Asked him to do rego if i paid full for it and said he wont because I need to go personally to vicroads.

No deposit has been put down yet so nothing has been confirmed. He wants a deposit when the car is taken for preinspection at racepace and will refund if unsatisfactory.

hmmm... well my compliance included regassing...

anyways... i thought he could get it registered, you just have to get it changed to your name or something... like if you buy a car from a private seller, it's rego'd but in their name, so you switch it. I guess it's kinda the same as you going down to rego it but i think technically he can go get it rego'd... i think :)

going to put my 2c, i was looking for a liner for some time, just brought a S2 R33 in very good condition with 9 months rego for 16500 on carsales...so far had inspection done and is in great condition...so do you really want to pay for 14500 for R32.....i mean i love r32 look...but mate there not getting any youger......sooo wow thats a lot for what is basically an OLD car....with very fastly diminitiong value...but then again thats why i brough a r33...S2..Nice wing though...

So far it will cost me $13700 with 12mnth rego, stamps, rwc, compliance.

Assuming you paid $660 stamps, a total of $17160, we talking about $3500 difference and thats excluding insurance and alarm (seller actually said it has alam but has no idea about it, was a small rectangle with about 16 led's on it and had to disconnect it weird.. lol)

and it comes down to preference, you might as well tell me to buy a honda jazz as its new, but we dont really buy these cars to make a profit :)

    • Hi,  Just joined the forum so I could share my "fix" of this problem. Might be of use to someone. Had the same hunting at idle issue on my V36 with VQ35HR engine after swapping the engine because the original one got overheated.  While changing the engine I made the mistake of cleaning the throttle bodies and tried all the tricks i could find to do a throttle relearn with no luck. Gave in and took it to a shop and they couldn't sort it. Then took it to my local Nissan dealership and they couldn't get it to idle properly. They said I'd need to replace the throttle bodies and the ecu probably costing more than the car is worth. So I had the idea of replacing the carbon I cleaned out with a thin layer of super glue and it's back to normal idle now. Bit rough but saved the car from the wreckers 🤣
    • After my last update, I went ahead with cleaning and restoring the entire fuel system. This included removing the tank and cleaning it with the Beyond Balistics solution, power washing it multiple times, drying it thoroughly, rinsing with IPA, drying again with heat gun and compressed air. Also, cleaning out the lines, fuel rail, and replacing the fuel pump with an OEM-style one. During the cleaning process, I replaced several hoses - including the breather hose on the fuel tank, which turned out to be the cause of the earlier fuel leak. This is what the old fuel filter looked like: Fuel tank before cleaning: Dirty Fuel Tank.mp4   Fuel tank after cleaning (some staining remains): Clean Fuel Tank.mp4 Both the OEM 270cc and new DeatschWerks 550cc injectors were cleaned professionally by a shop. Before reassembling everything, I tested the fuel flow by running the pump output into a container at the fuel filter location - flow looked good. I then fitted the new fuel filter and reassembled the rest of the system. Fuel Flow Test.mp4 Test 1 - 550cc injectors Ran the new fuel pump with its supplied diagonal strainer (different from OEM’s flat strainer) and my 550cc injectors using the same resized-injector map I had successfully used before. At first, it idled roughly and stalled when I applied throttle. Checked the spark plugs and found that they were fouled with carbon (likely from the earlier overly rich running when the injectors were clogged). After cleaning the plugs, the car started fine. However, it would only idle for 30–60 seconds before stalling, and while driving it would feel like a “fuel cut” after a few seconds - though it wouldn’t fully stall. Test 2 – Strainer swap Suspecting the diagonal strainer might not be reaching the tank bottom, I swapped it for the original flat strainer and filled the tank with ~45L of fuel. The issue persisted exactly the same. Test 3 – OEM injectors To eliminate tuning variables, I reinstalled the OEM 270cc injectors and reverted to the original map. Cleaned the spark plugs again just in-case. The stalling and “fuel cut” still remained.   At this stage, I suspect an intermittent power or connection fault at the fuel pump hanger, caused during the cleaning process. This has led me to look into getting Frenchy’s fuel hanger and replacing the unit entirely. TL;DR: Cleaned and restored the fuel system (tank, lines, rail, pump). Tested 550cc injectors with the same resized-injector map as before, but the car stalls at idle and experiences what feels like “fuel cut” after a few seconds of driving. Swapped back to OEM injectors with original map to rule out tuning, but the issue persists. Now suspecting an intermittent power or connection fault at the fuel pump hanger, possibly cause by the cleaning process.
    • For race cars, this is one part where I find having the roll cage bar having gone through a hole in the floor better than the build it up on a ledge inside... The Merc I help on, the main hoop ends are marked on the car, and the jack is marked... Jack goes under a few inches and lifts one whole side of the car up... Removes that fight for long slim jacks for race car duties!   My biggest issue for the daily drivers I work on, is my jacks don't go high enough. The jacks start out on a few blocks, jack it up, then start a second jack under it on more blocks, and then I can get an axle stand under it. My axle stands are presently in use, and are nearly fully extended. The car is sitting with barely more than a cm of clearance to get the wheel off the studs! Sarah's Kluger is the same, as it has an ungodly amount of droop available in the suspension and a distinct lack of good jacking points!
    • Happy? Yep, my to do list is getting shorter and shorter. Either this light approaching is the end of the tunnel, or I'm about to be hit by a train... Ha ha ha   Also, Duncan isn't that far out of town that you need to make a multi day drive out of it. 😛
