Well, this time tomorrow I will have done approx 100-200km of drift and grip at the creek and looking forward to the additional 100-300 in the arvo!

See everyone there at around 8am. Try and get in a group along the open sheds at the back of the main pit garages.

Lets go use a skyline like is meant to be used!

What a great day.

It was great meeting new people and catching up with the regulars.

I had a great time.

Fatz, you need to sort out your priorities as the ONLY wedding that has priority over a great day of drifting is you own. You missed a excellent day, I hope your brother made it home on the steel belts ok.

If anyone got any pics of the Black Typhoon, I would love to get a copy.

Thanks

I totally agree - what a great day!

The day was really well run, thumbs up Initial Drift!

The 45 minute sessions actually worked well, I thought they may have been to long first up but it actually gives you time to get your eye in, string a few quick(?) laps together, take it easy and let every thing cool down for a few then hit it again and look for improvement.

My fastest time was actually in the first session (1:55.55) and i couldn't improve on it all day - might have had something to do with not having brakes. We heard a scraping noise on the way to the pub for lunch and found no rear pads left. The 45 minute sessions were good here as well cos' I was able to change both front and rear pads during the 'drift' session.

Unfortunately I reckon that opportunities like today will soon become a thing of the past because of lack of support. It seems everyone asks for a Saturday track day however on the day it was the same crew that support the weekday ones that turned out.

All of us had a great time sharing a passion with like minded enthusiasts.

Once again, a great day - thanks to all that contributed.

photos of the day anyone?

glad it was good - i wish i could have made it - the paintball welts all over mybody whish i went to this day - dam brother and his stupid bucks pary

hahaha

was fun tohugh

so post up pics if u got them of the grip n drift!

Initial Drift will not be running a ec day for a while. This is the second time they have lost money big time trying to run a ec day. Where the hell was everyone?? Think there was about 25 cars and most of them were drifters. It was good doing thousands of laps with nobody in sight (although it cost a shit load in fuel) but its tough seeing the initial drift club loosing money running these awesome days.

Yeah it was a big day, there was no reason for not having heaps of people, it was a Sat, plenty of notice and fine weather. Must have something to do with the volume of other track day at the moment.

I had a good day, had 3 laps on slicks pushed out a 1.50 and then popped a slick on turn 2, lucky I had almost stopped.

Somethings wrong with the trkbtch, will find out more later.

And I thought the R34 was exhausted from the effort of getting past 89kw of raw Lotus power. :D

For those of us doing Grip sessions it certainly was a great day with lots of track time. This certainly was great for participants but a shame for IDA and their bank balance.

Kero,

The lotus was doing 1.52-3 laps he missed the power down the straight, but loved the back part of the course.

I was only running 11psi so I hardly had big HP.

i think kero is trying to say you drive like a nancy boy oz!!!!

I wish I was doing those times. According to my lap timer my FTD was 1.55.34 which was also a personal Best at EC. The car pretty much hits terminal velocity of 200km/h. If I'd improved the aerodynamics by putting the roof on I might have gotten an extra 5km/h or so out of it and broken into the 1.54s.

I was impressed seeing the R34 going into turn 1 at about 200km/h without using the brakes (just before the tyre shat itself). The only other car I noticed not using the brakes there was the Ralliart Colt.

1.55 is a good time, I thought you were going a little quicker then that.

If Im going full pace I have to use the brakes at the 100 meter mark, one quick stab, get some balance and back on the juice. If I p!ssed the STD suspension off then I might be able to get it quicker round there.

I only had 4 laps on the slicks. 2 warm up and then 2 lap's at full noise. I got a 1.55 then a 1.50.45 and was hoping to break that elusive 1.49's once I got into it, I guess I will have to wait until the SAU drive day on the 7th Oct before giving it another go!

Looked like you guys were having a blast out there

Good to catch up with Mal aswel - havnt seen him for ages

I was a bit suprised they were charging spectators to watch though

    • Hello!  i just finished manual swaping my r34 skyline with a r33 rb20de box(RB71C)box  When the car is running it squeaks crazy loud and it was smoking from the gearbox area. The gearbox is fine it was tested. The clutch slave cylinder seems like it doesn't fully releases the clutch. I want to ask if this noise is from the throw out bearing or could it be the clutch assembly or disk att.xFliq87Gzw6kImKBVqDebXkj0fBqymk0JaYeP3_3SlM.mp4
    • A few small updates since the previous post and lessons. I decided to do a little interior light upgrade on the 110. I quite like the iilumo items, even if they're a bit of a premium over other brands. You'll also note the Stedi Fogs, that will go into the S15 fog lights as I needed to match the bulbs since I got the new ones earlier. I hope they fit as the body is quite a bit longer than your normal bulb.  Annoyingly, I managed to trip the fuse, which normally wouldn't be an issue until I located the fuse. I can't say I've ever come across this. I had lucked out that someone nearby had a spare, but oddly enough Toyota dealerships seem to keep this in stock. I ordered some to keep in my stash and as luck would have it, someone else nearby tripped the same fuse so I passed on the favour.  I also did a little service on the 110 ahead of some additional work coming up. It's been annoying that Goleby's stopped carrying this particular HKS filter for the 110, so now I need to keep them on order from Japan. I also took the opportunity to install a bash plate and number plate riser. The plate riser is such a cheap but nice fix to help really tidy up the car. I'm tempted to now also replace my headlights, on this car. Both items were from Project Aero.    I also needed to replace the rear tyres on the 110, and after trying to get it aligned learnt that I need to replace some bushes in the front end, so that's next.  Closing out this update with a nicer picture as always!
