so yeah, who's on the juice of the 100 RON variety?

Can't say i even know where my closest Optimax Extreme servo is... but was wondering if there are any/many people using Optimax Extreme?

Heard some really good reports from SK, he's had it running in a 33 GTST for 8 months, seems to be good stuff...

anyone which servo's have it on the s.e. side? bayside way? Telstra has "shaped" my cable, so it's painful to search for stuff....

Here is the list of shell extreme distributors in Victoria.

I tried to whereis Bayside but i got no result? haha (whereis.com.au)

Cause it contains ethenol some people are worried about using it.

If u go to the Shell Website, it will has a current list where to go Extreme.

There is also a list which cars can / cannot use it.

Not sure for u guys, but some subies cannot use this fuel.

Cheers

Andrew :P

Appears as though it's just Optimax with 5% ethanol....so WTF is it 6c/L more??? Ethanol is cheaper than fuel.

GTR already has 260rwkw on the stock computer with Optimax so no point changing.

whilst it will help take out some detonation if you have any its pretty much pointless on a stock ecu. aftermarket ecu owners can tune with it and get some more zest but the stock ecu will achieve zero. even doing the infamous ecu reset will probably yield jack all.

been told by a reputable mechanic it is v-good. my car is tuned o 98ron and i use optimax100 . a big horsepower car could get a possible 10-15kw more if tuned on this fule so i bee told. i find it more responsive on the pedal + i get an extra 60km's out of a tank. almost 500k's for a daily driver is not bad

extra fuel consumption from using higher octane fuel is not possible.

i see no reason you would gain an extra 60kms from a tank of higher rated fuel. if anything it would be slightly less. i dont believe it for a second im sorry.

I did some tests in both my cars on the extreeme and ultimate. Correct me if I'm wrong by most jap imports ecus are designed for 100RON but can adjust enough for comprensate as required.

anyway regardless of if thats true or not, I ran 5 tanks on the xtreeme and 5 on the ultimate, ultimate ran better and I got the same kms, if not slightly more but hard to really tell. So I decided just to buy ultimate cos its just downt he road.

Saying you get over 500kms its not really relevant unless u stipulate what type of driving your doing. I drive to my holiday houe and get over 600km and in CBD driving and peak hour I might get only 420...

the stock ecu has code to back off timing when it picks up detonation. it wont just magically advance the timing and make more power. an ecu reset clears the map and tries 2deg advanced and watches for detonation. thats about all the "compensation" it does.

it has no idea what fuel you are using. it only knows when you have shit fuel in it, that detonates and is seen via the knock sensors, only then does it act, and thats back off timing to protect itself

there u go...thanks!

Agreed the Gov gave the ok to use Ethanol, to help reduce the price of fuel and yet this is more expensive. What Crap!

As most of you guys, if ur running stock ECU u will not notice much of a difference. If you just buy an aftermarket ECU and tune to this fuel, ur not acheiving much. Unless ur going to be doing some other big mods.

Personally l have turned off the shell optimax, l have found most of the time the alternatives from Caltex and BP have been cheaper.

Cheers

    • What 1.5 way? There's no such thing really as a 1.5 way, just different ways of explaining 2 ways with different ramp rates. HOWEVER. In any driving in a straight line your 1.5 or 2 or 1.7 way should have no clunking at all. With the clutch fully depressed the diff should be silent (unless it's welded but I'm assuming it's not). Something aint right here.
    • Clutch is a spec brand, new clutch system,( PP, flywheel, friction disc, etc. pull type) installed 100 miles ago, with no problems.
    • looking for some help and maybe some insight on others experience with a new LSD. R34 GT ran and drove beautifully, but always alot of grip loss due to the open R200 rear end, so I just installed a new 1.5 LSD way into the stock open R200 for a ER34. Simple. Everything seemed right. I test drove for the first time this weekend. as I started to back out the garage the first time slowly with tires straight it sounded and felt like I had a loose or half disconnected drive shaft...that was clucking around loose and shaking entire vehicle, and making it feel like the trans clutch was spontaneously slipping then grabbing very roughly while just letting out pedal slowly. I backed it out went to pull forward with the same noise, shake and slip grab feeling with hesitation, I turned the tires to back out more and then pulled ahead some same thing but worst because of added wheel resistance (which that I expected) puzzled … pulling it back in checking everything over and finding nothing wrong, I tried it the next day. same thing, couldn’t believe how it shook everything again making a terrible noise and making it feel like the trans clutch was slipping and grabbing, but I got it out of garage into the driveway, got it straight, drove forward and then reveres a few times in a straight line everything shaking , causing what felt like clutch slip and grab every time, sounded like right behind front driver tire and I could feel it in the floor board with my feet,... worst right when beginning to let clutch pedal out to engage slightly, shuttering and sounding terrible along the way…I managed to slowly get down the road, babying it the whole way, once I was rolling (out of 1st) seemed to be better and between shifts, then clutch felt closer to normal…not slip/ grab etc., but back down to any stop, straight road or turning, same thing. Made no difference if all tires were straight or if I was turning. All other gauge read out correct. with in 2 miles as planned I reached the empty parking lot and performed the break in procedure that came with lsd, essentially to drive in a figure 8 a bunch.  Did this, binding chattering, and shaking the car the whole way. I drove it back home seemed somewhat normal once I was in straight line and past 10 mph or so, and I know it will “bind” on corners and cause some tires squeal when turning especially from a stop, but when I begin to move it still causes what feels like the trans clutch to slip and jerk badly as well as shaking the entire car, and sounds terrible, that I didn’t expect. I used the fluid they supplied with LSD kit and did the breaking, planning to change fluid as they suggest after breaking, but wondering will it get smoother or less aggressive with use? maybe a 1.5 is just too aggressive for normal road driving?   I have a LSD that I put in my 71 cuda when I restored it, with amazing smooth , quite yet effective results. Different style LSD but that ones a joy to drive. maybe expecting too much from this R200?
