You would hate that car if you did the event. The first time you heard it it was tops. After 3 days of hearing it you were just praying it would blow up.

Yeah definately second that. Looked good but that thing blipping the accelerator was deafening. At least he turned it off when waiting. $400K to build though one of the Porsche guys was saying!

$40,000 worth of brakes.......

Glad to see all 3 of hte SAU cars made it all the way through the event without trouble. Go nissan!

Jack - the black R32 GT-R from NSW was fastest at Sandown with a 1.20.0.

mmm sweet sentence. the fastest car at a VIC track was a GTR. from NSW. and a 32 no less! giddy up!

congrats to all those out there. especially troy, you did mighty well it seems for someone with a below average IQ... you are pretty good looking though so perhaps the timing guys were kind to you? hehe well done mate. you made 57-1 a reality. good work.

lol... poor frisby.

And it was almost a win for me. My plates are BRI-58Y, the NSW GTR had the plates BRI-73Y. His name was Brighty and he was a blood nut to boot...only he could drive and had a quick car :P

man that is creepy. so what you are saying is basically this bloke was a smarter, faster better looking version of you, with enough sense to stay in NSW to boot? damn that hurts.

i still love you troy boy. you can booty call me any time.

Okay here is my rundown of the weekend James style:

- Chris is an absolute legend and we were definately the noisiest people at the dinner presentation on Friday night when he took out three trophys for the quickest times.

- Brisby broke one of Chris' trophys while very drunk and fighting for the front seat of the car with Snowy for their lift home whilst very intoxicated.

- Snowys daughter Keira or Snowflake as adam likes to call her, is the most adorable little girl in the whole wide world.

- Going to the Shepparton Strippers is not advised even if eveyone else is going.

- Driving back from Shepparton I was behind the Z Tuned and a GT2 who decided to have a little bit of fun while driving next to each other on the hume and it was the best thing I saw all weekend!!

- Adam wins everything on style points and had plenty of cheers.

- James enjoyed driving around shepparton while still wearing his stealth race helmet because he forgot his sunglasses and it had a tinted viser.

- No matter what dutton rally organisers tell you it is illegal to wear no number plates during transit stages of the rally, adam and Brisby both got a $120 Fine and three demerit points. We were pulled over for 50 minutes by the Benalla TMU, the organisers were even speaking to him on my mobile phone, but no dice we still got the fine.

- Dutton rally was very Tiring.

- Chris and Snowy were the coolest SAU team (Did we expect anything less!) as they both cleaned up in their class results and the overall results. Well Done Guys!!

- Even though they are the coolest they nealry killed us all at Winton when they pushed the car to extreme limits and my heart certainly stopped for at least three seconds as snowy spun onto the main straight but then put the boot back in to get a killer lap, Chris did the same down the back side of the track. These boys definately drove hard all weekend!!

- I was consistantly placed in the mid field all weekend but I'm just glad i finished. Definately need more track practise before next year.

- Adam got a trohpy for 2nd place in our class and also came 8th overall in the co drivers handicap.

- James did a fantastic job behind the wheel of the Silver bullet, he's never even driven a rear wheel drive before. I wouldn't be suprised if he brings out the cheater EVO for next year.

- Brisby did really well in our class and came in at the front of the field which is great.

- The shepparton barstaff need to realise that fiddy is not a replacement for the word fifty unless you are a nigro rapper.

- SAU events rock, we get so much track time and have so much fun and the motokhanas are much better than some of the dutton ones!

- EVO's are cheater cars.

- Big thanks to Bec and Min for carrying all our crap around, go team SAU Support crew!

- I don't want to think about Dutton again until March next year because i'm too tired.

Thats about it from me.

what happened to the times at Sandown ? Was there a problem with the car?

They claimed it had no pull in 4th and 5th gear????

I thought i easily did a 1:24 as it felt real quick. But i think the 1.5bar meant that combination of dead rear tyres and shagged diff meant i was slow onto the straights and only did a 1:27 :) Now that the event is behind me ive got the sh1ts i didnt get the diff into the car in time :)

And Scotsmans was too lazy to remove my wheels and adjust my handbrake....like he had better things to do :)

ahhh it all makes sense now!!! One of the Gibson Cars?

Yep, it will be so cool if there are 3 GTS-Rs out there

Yeh, im knackered. I dont think i could have done a 4th day. Did you bag the sub 1:30 you were chasing? But more importantly, did you have Top Gun pumping whilst the camera was in the car :(

    • Good tips, will get on those tomorrow. When doing the maintenance I did move a few of those connectors around, and things that are old tend to not like moving around. (Like me).
    • Don't try it. It will be shit. Better chance of damaging the engine than gaining any knowledge about the old one. Maybe, but unlikely, especially if the O2 sensor is working. You can use NissDataScan to look at the stock ECU.   Cleaning the AFM is seldom necessary and seldom helps. The R35 coil & loom conversion should eliminate dud coils or plugs. But as you still have misses - look to the plug where the coil loom connects to the engine loom, and the CAS plug. Need quality connections there. Also look to injector plugs. And the AFM plug while you're at it. Also look to whether your injectors are clean and flowing evenly. Get them out and onto a testbench.
    • Good to know, I feel like I am in for a rollercoaster ride that looks like a sine wave.
    • You'll fit right in. Acceptance is the first step.
    • Hey folks. I've been lurking and browsing the forum for a while, since I got into my head that I wanted a skyline. Having purchased an overpriced completely stock GTT, (only "mods" it has is HKS pod filter and catback) now that it became legal in the US, it was all glorious and sututu noises here and there. But then I wanted to do things right and went to do basic maintenance. After all the fluids, filters done, I did the spark plugs, that's when the problems started.. First the car started spluttering at around 4.5k RPM. Which I gapped down the new plugs and that solved the sputter there, but the car now always misfires at idle with pops when lifting off and shifting 2nd to 3rd. Similar to the issues in this recent thread. I've been banging my head against the wall, reading the threads here and trying suggestions for a couple months now, so decided to start this one to explain exactly what I tried and what is going on. The symptoms of the issue: Idle and low revs misfiring intermittently. You can hear the exhaust tone change and the shakes on the shifter knob. It happens frequently, but doesn't seem to have a rhythm to it. Pops when backing off throttle. It pops and or burbles almost feels like it spits fire when it pops. (Happens mostly in 3rd gear at around 2k RPM). When under load and after 6k RPM, it also pops when shifting from 2nd to 3rd. There's a ticking noise at around 2k RPM in 2nd gear going downhill, seems unrelated though but I am out of educated and downright dumb guesses. Not noticeable lack of power when putting the car into load. The attempted diagnosis and solutions: Unplugging coils when the car is running This did nothing to change the idling and tone shift for every cylinder. Checking the exhaust headers with thermometer They all are within what I'd say it is margin of error of the laser thermometer New spark plugs Tossed two new sets, copper, iridium and using the old ones, still misfiring, even re gapped to 0.8mm, still same thing. MAF cleaned with the "specific" spray cleaner No changes in the issues what so ever. Brand new loom and r35 coil conversion (was going to add the r35 coils anyway) car runs arguably better, still misfires, but seems like does less frequently. Placebo? Code 21 now being thrown, thanks nissan gods. Removed the CAS to check the shaft for play or anything. CAS seems all fine, nothing that indicates any issue, visually speaking. Things to attempted next: Ordered a new MAF (chinesium from Amazon, to be able to return regardless of result). Fuel with proper gas, maybe it is this California water that they sell as gas that is to blame? Plugin the link ECU and check the info using the built in base map. Go back to BMW and eat my rob bearing breakfast without milky oil mixture.   Do any of you have experienced anything like this or have any suggestion?
