ive seen r33's averaging around the 160psi mark.

Two r32's i had tested were around the 145psi~

Make it clear that deposit will be refunded if any (minor/major) mechanical/structural damage will be found. The mechanic should tell you condition of engine after compression AND leakdown test.

when looking for my R33 in australia (before i decided to import my own) i spoke to merli a lot on here...he gave me a lot of useful info on what to look for.

going by what he said, 120psi on all cylinders, thats rebuild time :(

he told me anything under 135-140 and you'd be lookin to rebuild soon after purchasing...

but everyones giving you all these facts, and you still seem to want it..so u want it that bad, get it

Ok heres the heads up. I put a deposit on the car last night so that they would hold it for me, I had to because the there were other people interested in it and 1 guy was willing to pay the full amount and get it as soon as possible. I believe him because on the weekend when I was looking at cars there was another guy looking at the car as much as I was.

I never delt with the salesman shane. Im dealing with a mechanic who does the compliance, mods etc... for Shane. People at my dads work have baught cars through this guy and they only had good things to say about him (mabey thats why my dad is so insistant on me going throught this guy)

The car is getting 120psi on all cylinders. Im still going to take it to someone else and get it checked out.

Good luck and hope it checks out OK.

You should have told us alot of people you know have dealt with him.

He needs to honor all his waranties or he will get alot of backlash ,.

:(

funkymonkey the VIN number is 216083A

that dosen't seem right... the original VIN will be on a blue plate in the engine bay usually looks like "ECR33-123456".

Atreyu - tyre kickers come with the territory. It took me 10 months to sell my Lexus and I wasnt appealing to a younger generation dominated market. I carefully priced mine after the first month, 2nd from bottom of all ad's I could find. I still had people offering me 20K for a car that was up for 27/28K. Other Lexus' of a similar age and much higher km's were 30K plus.

It pisses us all off but as a buyer, people try their luck. Definately no need to get fired up though, you could quite legitimately have questioned the statement though as you wouldnt want it hampering any future sale.

I know Saff Cossie. I think Im just over it. Cheers anyway.

DivHunter, no hard feelings. I know where your coming from.

Can you please delete what I posted and you copied in your reply?

Cheers!

brand new and from the manual the compression on a RB25DET is 1.2 MPa or roughly 175psi.

The variance limits between cyl is 0.1Mpa or ~14.5psi.

The service limit is 0.9MPA or 130psi

thats pretty much explains it all IMO.

    • thanks for the advice on the box... i was thinking the 6 speed was better for cruising on the highway but on closer inspection and comparison the Rb 5 speed box was not too different...  So the choice is going to be the RB25 box... if I can save up and find one at the right price
    • Thanks Matt, yes that's what i am aiming for. Just going to apply the right voltage and grounds to the dash connector. Hence my search for these pins... any chance you know if these pins are in the same spot as the ones on the S15 Dash connector? as mentioned above on page 8?
    • Yes, unfortunately that's the one. Signal was noisy to begin with; after driving once and looking back at the logs I saw pressure constantly swinging between 0-200psi, or staying at 0 randomly for a few seconds. There's a lot of good sensors that share the same look and feel, so don't presume they're all bad. I bought mine for 20$ off Amazon and I should have read the reviews prior, as it's clear they're junk.  I purchased a lowdollerr motorsports sensor.
