if you check out gamespot.com sony did a real play demo of it

either way.. to get a hold of a ps3 we have to wait til next year.. and thats IF you manage to get your hands on one

stock levels are limited as produciton for blue ray diodes are relatively slow at the moment

I've been playing it quite a bit lately on PS3 in Tokyo, and yest GT HD is awesome. You really need a good TV to make the most of it. I have a PS3 now back in Sydney and on my lame TV things dont look quite as good as they did on the HD plasmas I was playing with in Japan.

The graphics of GT HD are astounding. I'm just sorry I couldn't get a copy to bring back with me. I do have Ridge Racer 7 and Resistance (hooked on this one atm) and they are both great. PS3 is definately worth the wait. I do have some pics I took of actual screen shots of GT HD that I took whilst playing it. I will dig them out and post them up later on.

edit: yes sadly no car damage. but it's still awesome.

her beer baron,

im looking at buying myself a ps3 soon from japan, do you know if they are mulit-region? and is the language changeable?

yes language is changeable, and games are region free. movies are not.

I'm probably going to sell mine shortly, simply due to no more time to play with busy work time coming up. and I'll be back in japan in 6 weeks time so could possibly try for another one then.

  • 2 weeks later...

The game is now officially called Gran Turismo 5 :)

Heres a F*KN AWESOME GT5 Nissan Video!!!

Right click and save as:

GT5 Nissan Video 12.3mb

HD GT5 Nissan Video 38.6mb

Quicktime HD GT5 Nissan Video 37.6mb

OOOOHHHHH YYEAAAAAAHHHH :D

yep GTHD has been canned. They are now going to release the demo versoin (like what I played in Tokyo) which will have 10 cars and 1 track (2 layouts) and 2 modes: time attack, and drift (!). It's going to be free for those of us lucky enough to have a japanese PS3. You will be able to download it free from sony store on christmas eve. how cool is that.

they will now be focussing on GT5 instead. Can't wait for that!

you might be waiting a while! well into 2008 at the earliest. I'm pretty disappointed to be honest.. if they'd have offered it late next year I may well have been tempted to lash out some cash on the ps3. Instead forza2 on 360 will keep me occupied well into then.

I bought a PS1, and largely a PS2 just to play Gran turismo :)

    • I'm actually not sure - I think it was "Stealth Performance" (It really is near impossible to find a FEMALE 1/8BSPT to 1/8NPT male at ALL) but having the thing leveraged on a 90 degree angle on a small aluminium fitting is not too smart. Also in not too smart, I've drilled out the center of the broken fitting so there's maybe 0.00001mm of thread to bite into, so yeah. I may have to get it drilled/tapped/plugged entirely. Given I could conceivably tap a thread/adapter/pressure line in any point in the oil system I suppose it's feasible to run a line to the Nissan Sensor to keep the dash working. Do these exist in AN fittings and the like? Like an AN fitting that has a NPT (or other?) thread as well for putting a sensor in?
    • I would agree.  There will be an amount of boost you could run safely with an otherwise factory system, but it would be low enough to not be worth the cost.  And if you are reliving your 20s, you know a 'little bit' was never enough. Personally, if I didn't want to spend the money, then stick with NA bolt-ons, and maybe a tune.
    • Fuark, at least the motor survived. What brand was the fitting that snapped?
    • Wrong question. There's no point in spending the rather large sum of cash and effort to add turbo, without taking it to the "sensible" limit of the motor itself. If you have to upgrade injectors, etc, then so be it. That is a tiny fraction of what it will cost you to turbo it.
