Came across this why doing some research for my turbo upgrade.

http://www.hks-power.co.jp/products/turbo/...1rkai_graph.gif

BNR34

2.8L Bottom End

HKS T51R Kai BB

In Cam 290

Ex Cam 280

2 bar boost

150kw @ 3000rpm

450kw @ 4000rpm

660kw @ 6500rpm

That looks pretty impressive to me. What do you guys think? Could this be off an engine dyno not a chassis dyno?

Anyone have much experience with the Kai? They seem fairly popular in the Uk.

Merry Christmas

Yep, no problems - especially when you say it all quickly (i.e. full HKS 2.8L kit, STEP PRO cams and valve train to suit, FCON V, etc.).

Other "minor/incidentals" such as intercooler, plenum, injectors, fuel system, exhaust manifold, wastegate, full exhaust system, flywheel, multiplate clutch, upgraded gearbox etc are of course, a given.

How does the old saying go? "Speed is money - how fast do you want to go?"

I would say it is definately RWKW or AWKW, but wouldn't expect thet sort of midrange, however i dont really think its a real dynograph.

But if it is real mighty good result dont ya say..

money=speed.....how true

yeah it's a given that there have been plenty of bucks spent, its possible it was a HKS test car, so nothing has been left out.

But even so there are plenty of cars that have had ALOT of dollars spent on them in Oz but i've yet to see one with that sort of performance.

After thinking about even if that was an engine dyno and not a chassis dyno it is still every impressive.

To be honest i didnt think to would be possible to have 650kw at the top end with such a good mid range. I mean if that graph was a true indication of that engines performance you could set the rev limit for 4000 rpm for street driving and just open it up for drags.

I have had TO4Z at the top of my shopping list but after seeing this kai (if it could some how be confirmed) it goes to the top. It would be nice if HKS had a graph for the TO4Z on there site to compare, but i'd have to think the kai out performs it in every way.

Hmm, the front and rear mechanical LSDs i already have made absolutely no difference to my turbo spool. I must have got the wrong brand!!!

agreed, don't believe every dyno from component suppliers, but i think everyone would agree that HKS under rate must of there gear on paper so why would they over rate componets on a dyno?

There other dyno charts on they're web site that look about right.

Even if it was out by 10%, still impressive.

Anyone have any useful feed back?

I agree. Does anyone have anymore info on this particular car?

The owner of the car is on the forums quite frequently and ill show him this thread as well :nyaanyaa:

It is a very tough car though and isnt just a show pony, its quite often out and about in Canberra

P.S: It also makes a fair whack more than 500kw now in its every day street tune on pump fuel

My mechanic just bought one of the T51R SPL turbo's.. it's bloody huge! It's going on a 26 stroker, I'll get him to post results once it's built :P

Off the top of my head I think the T51R KAI is an 800hp turbo and the SPL is good for 1000hp O_o

    • I've heard the Tomei USA head gaskets are decent if you want to o-ring the heads but otherwise not recommended.
    • The 296mm rotors are the R33 turbo brakes. The 310mm rotors are the R34 turbo brakes. The calipers are nearly the same, but not. They're the same caliper but the R34 caliper has longer legs so that it sits out far enough to go over the rotor. The pads are the same for both. When you say, "I bough tsome EBC"....did you just mean pads? Or rotors? 310mm rotors fit under 17" wheels. There may be some wheels without enough clearance though. I can't fit my fingers between the barrel of my wheel and the "corners" of my R34 calipers, but there is plenty of room behind the spokes. This is on Enkei RPF1. You can fit 324mm rotors inside a 17" wheel, but I'd be willing to bet that it would be close to impossible with the Nissan/Sumitomo caliper (using an adapter, of course), because the Sumitomo caliper is fatter than the Brembo caliper that is supposed to go on the 324mm rotors.
    • Hi. Can someone tell me what brakes(and mainly WHERE) can i buy brakes on R34 GTT? I bought some EBC which SHOULD go on my car(i have GT but it has GTT brakes) but it does not fit, Brakes are "too" small(296mm) Are 310mm be good or? I have 17 inch wheel so no "big boys" but for me driving i just need one that fits and i can get here in EU/Czech.
    • Since winter isn't that harsh anymore in Poland, i will definetely drive it 365 days a year 😉. But if the snow hits i will try it for sure and let U know. Only swap i am planning to do is of course R34 GTR front 😍.
    • Hey. Very valuable information about pitwork, I will pay attention when buying any consumable parts 🙏 As for the carpets - I got a handful of information from nengun, from which it appears that indeed the carpets for the driver's side are OEM. They are not able to show me any pictures due to the long chain of different sales entities but after I place the order, as soon as the goods arrive at the nengun warehouse from which they will send the shipment to me they can send me photos and if my purchase differs from OEM I can immediately return it / cancel the purchase. I think I will give it a try 😉. Of course i'll let you know what's what as soon as i get them P.s. I know the topic is not relevant to the thread, but both nengun and amayama have these SICK 😍 trunk room lamps available. Do you know anyone who ordered them? I need to have one in my car
