NISMO
Nah, I think they have been struck dumb by Ferrari's hypocrisy...I mean, you are fkn kidding, aren't you? http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/63956 By far the most amusing read of the year! It's ok for lawyers to seal the constructors championship for Ferrari, but if Mac do that then it's "grubby". The more and more this team comments on anything the more they sound like that one friend we all had who had the best toys, but was just a total utter pr!ck. I think it's time for F1 to say to ferrari STFU and GTFO (not that that would ever happen) Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/149406-2007-f1-season/page/104/#findComment-3478869 Share on other sites
ctjet
im taking an educated guess and saying that the word "justice" appears more than once on Ferrari's official statement at the end of this sham and that luca montezemolo, who has been strngely quiet of late, will once again put his unwanted 2 cents into the arena Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/149406-2007-f1-season/page/104/#findComment-3479729 Share on other sites

leb
Haha, just wait for 2008! McLaren have been a real dirty team this year, first espionage, then trying to challenge on a technicality that was near impossible to prove. Kozeyekan
I wouldn't say McLaren are any dirtier than the rest, they just got caught. Ferrari decided the constructors championship in the court rooms, I imagine McLaren never expected to get the appeal upheld, but it's probably more about politics. The records will show that they were punished for dodginess and Ferrari were not, and it's now a part of legal records, so if Ferrari get into the poo again, they can dredge this up as a bad precedednt, or if McLaren get pinged for minor infringements, they can consider this ruling a precedent set that lets them off scot free. I expect they just want it on record as a "get out of jail free card" or a sh!tball they can drop on the FIA if Ferrari get away with anything next year. It's all politics. Good post, but you missed a couple of things: McLaren didn't get caught. They got stitched up by the FIA & Ferrari acting in collusion. It is entirely about politics. If it wasn't in previous years Ferrari would have been punished for doing much, much worse than McLaren were accused of doing. Also, it is not a matter of "IF" Ferrari get a way with anything next year. They will get away with blue murder, like they always have done. m3gtr
I feel sorry for McLaren. This has to be one of the worst seasons i can remember for them. To me, its like the spoilt rich kid in red went crying to daddy FIA about the big bad Mac bully and big daddy FIA went about swinging his weight to make them pay for making his golden child cry. I still cannot believe Ferrari got away with the flexi floor at the start of the year. For me, if this issue had gone through the way it was supposed to and ferrari was rightfully penalised for having an ILLEGAL car then we wouldnt be having this discussion over who was WDC. Stupifyingly, the FIA let off williams and BMW when they were found to have colder fuel that was OBVIOUSLY a performance advantage in Brazil. How the hell was the williams able to stay infront of the Mac lap after lap??? 4th for williams? give me a bloody break. All of a sudden, williams found a second a lap!! no,...wasnt because of the fuel. couldnt have been. what do these monkeys take us for?? m3gtr
this article is very interesting if the report is anything to go by. http://www.planetf1.com/story/0,18954,3213_2889386,00.html If Tost is right and RBR are talking to FA, then it leads me to one conclusion... That conclusion is that MW will do a trade to Mac next to LH and FA next to DC and RBR. Theres NO way DC would be going back to Mac. Its much more likely that MW will be the one that moves. Plus a heap of cash the way of Mac. I really like that idea. It seems to fit nicely, and RBR has more than enough money to pay for FA to get him out of his responsibilities to McLaren. Plus the fact that DC wont be a match for him, gives us the idea that FA can do things his own way. Besides, next year will most probably be DC's last one in F1... My bet is on MW at Mac next year and FA at RBR. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/149406-2007-f1-season/page/104/#findComment-3483220 Share on other sites

Roy
My bet is on MW at Mac next year and FA at RBR. McLaren can have almost any driver they want, why would they want Webber? Too old, we dont know for sure he can do the job...and he is contracted to RBR. I hear what you are saying, but personbally i think its a similar move to what you are talking about but to BMW. Mario was all praise for Alonso, even when the shit was hitting the fan. Then around Japan we havent heard a peep from the usually chatty Mario....i think the situation with drivers and management at BMW and McLaren would all get more out of a Alonso to BMW, NH to Mclaren. I cant see the same deal workign as well for MW and RBR : McLaren?!?!?! m3gtr
ill tell you why it will work. RBR has money. Plenty of it.Mac will want a fair amount for the severance of alonsos contract. The only other team that has a chance is Renault and they are in deep shit right now over their own espionage saga. Its hard for me to see alonso going to renault amidst all those problems that WILL plague the team in the weeks and months to come. Webbo will be willing to play the team game and support the golden child at Mac. He may even win a few races and will do a great job in the other car. he also wont be expensive to hire. Count on a one season deal with performance clauses. DC will also be willing to tow the line for alonso. and for cheap too. both parties win. if you look at the other scenarios, theres more headaches than anyone needs. m3gtr
BMW have already said they are out of the game with FA. and on contracts..weve all seen the value of those in recent years, LOL. remember button? not once but TWICE! FA with 2 years to run on his contract and next year hes out the door! sadly, contracts are worthless in the current environment F1 is in... Roy
RBR management are idiots if they sign FA for big money. It would be a backwards step for the team. BMW are in a better position to be upping the game with the signing of a WDC driver. The last report i read from MT was he was very cagey about FA...so im just a little suspicous i guess Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/149406-2007-f1-season/page/104/#findComment-3483649 Share on other sites

Beer Baron
well no doubt webber would be a good fit at maclaren too. but there is a worse option. gonzo goes to RBR and webber gets the boot! lol, now that would almost definitely leave webber without a seat at all, and quite possibly the end of his F1 career. maclaren may have another little louise prodigy up their sleeve?! you are right though, I can't see them wanting DC back. no way. I would like to see webber at maclaren, but the fact that gonzo is sniffing around RBR tells me they may be on the up. as he seems to have a nose for the teams that are moving up in the order just before they make it happen. so it wont be all bad for webber if he does stay at RBR (which seems most likely at this point). I mean, at least he has a seat!! at this rate it's not impossible that gonzo will end up with another year at maclaren as I think he may have left his run a bit late to get a new drive with a decent team.
