So I was coming home along Princess Fwy coming back from Crown and dropping a friend off at Dandenong Station, and i noticed a shitload of people and cars. So i thought yeah another night of drags on Princess.

Anyways i continue along Princess Fwy and stop at a set of red lights. Next to me pulls up a V8 ute reving his engine. Then i see a cop car pull up 2 cars behind him, and think yeah i'll just take off extra slow.

Anyway i take off slow and 300m down the cop car flashes his lights and i pull over.

As soon as i pull over the male officer says exactly. "Get out of the car, hand me your keys, your car is being impounded for street racing".

So i turn off the car get out and say "I didn't do anything". And then he goes "yeah you may not have but you rev'd the shit out of it at the light and took off". And again i say it wasn't me...blah blah blah (Make note every other car also took off slowly)

Anyway the female cop does a licence check and tells me just to go home. I reckon if she wasn't there i would of been gone.

Anyway long story short i got accused for something i didn't do. And the male officer was down right rude.

End rant.

Did you note down his badge number?

Do you intend to send a letter to the ombudsman?

With the amount of sh|t i hear each night... doesnt surprise me he wasnt impressed to start off with.

Not saying it was right, but he's probably been out there for the past 6 hours dealing with it. Lots of action tonight, i can hear it

Nah i didn't pay attention to his badge number or name, as it was the first time i've been pulled over so i didnt know really what to do.

Yeah to some degree i could see where the cops where coming from, dealing with street racers on that night for a few hours at least from what i could see.

Meh, I've had plenty of cops scream at me, sometimes I wasn't doing anything sometimes I was. It's the whole good cop bad cop thing. I got pulled over one night speeding a tad just before the burnley tunnel southbound in the commo and this dude screamed his head of at me for about 5mins me and my mate were like omg were both gonna die. Then the other cop came up and said look he's a little upset he doesn't wanna see you end up dead blahblahblah gave me a fine and sent me on my way. I wouldn't worry about it, it's just one of those things in life. When you actually get a fine or something for something you didn't do thats when you complain about it......

Princess freeway?

Where does that run?

Sure you don't mean Princes Highway?

Sorry i mean't Princess highway :)

Anyway's it wasn't the fact that i got pulled over, thats kinda expected with the extra attention from imports, it's more of the fact that he straight out accused me of doing something i didnt do. There was no how are you tonight or what are you doing around this area or whatever they usually say when they greet the driver. It was just get out of the car I'm impounding your car. :(

so was your car impounded or did the female police officer let you go?

either way - if you did nothing wrong as such, you should report it. If they gave you some sorta slip with all the details and stuff (eg like a fine) - wouldnt there be a badge number or the name of the arresting officer? (i have no idea about this, as i havent been pulled over so far)

Yeah the Female police officer let me go, and just told me to go straight home, which was where i was going anyway.

Nah i won't report it. Cop was probably having a bad night, judging by the amount of people there. There were literally i reckon about a thousand people just hanging around Princess Highway. And driving an R34 down there would be just asking for trouble i guess.

Yer I've been noticing lately ever since these impound laws have come into effect the popo have been getting into this habit of yelling:

A) Turn off the car and fkn hand me your keys, your car is being impounded for <insert some made up offense>

B) Turn off the car and fkn hand me your keys and licence because you won't be needing them anymore.

Upon the driver not admitting to some bs offense the cop just made up they continue insisting in an attempt to get the driver to cave in and admit to something they haven't done through fear I guess? Especially with the yelling and looking down onto us in the car.

But if those attempts fail they will head back to their car, prolly do the standard licence and registration check and then look through some books to find any old offense they can pin the driver down for. If not go inspect the car for defects. :)

This has happened so many times now that I'm starting to believe this is a common strategy/procedure for most cops in order to get more fines.

Think about it, you are yelled at and threatened your pride and joy is to be taken away, you are instantly scared and think of how bad this situation is. So now when it comes time to receive say some bs offense that isn't really true you will just accept it willingly believing this is such a great outcome compared to what it could of initially been.

I must commend the popo for great thought behind this new strategy, just so ethical. :(

BTW: Before you say I'm basing this opinion on hear say through friends, I've actually been there when it happened.

Yes, I am one who pulls over lots of imports along Princes Hwy. Handed out 3 EPA forms last week on friday. I hate the import drivers that race up and down there on Friday nights giving all of us a bad name. I know that it's not just an import issue but I was surprised at how many skylines were there. As expected and am impressed how no SAU members involved. I am more than fair to the driver's and don't try to impoud cars or make up offences but am disoppointed at the increasing numbers of imports and especially skylines hanging around there. well there's my 2c.

A bit offtopic but what is your stance on the hole being cut to pass piping for intercooler? :P

There is a thread located just under this one and we would like to hear your opinion :O

Cheers

In response to above. I personally wouldn'e even look for a changed hole etc for intercooler piping. IMO people defecting you on this are specifically gunning for you and the type of car you drive. I may do it if it was a local crook that I knew for example or if the person really jacked me up but in general I wouldn't even look for it.

living in dandy now I'll probably use Princes more often to get to work or chaddy or even a night out... had the local constabulary pull me up a couple of weeks ago on Princes to do a "random breath test" and let me know that they might defect my car depending on how modified it is...

Anyways, I was polite to them and they were polite back to me, and just told me to be aware that they were doing some blitz on street racers etc in the area and possibly use alternate routes if I didn't wanna be hassled because of the car I drive.

I guess being on your full license and being sensible instead of a "you want some of this?" attitude helps. He did tell me to change my steering wheel though, and that "the stock R32 GTR one looks quite nice, i dunno why you'd want an aftermarket one"... lol smartarse... if only he knew how rare a stock leather steering wheel that dosen't look like a dog's breakfast is.

exactly which part of princes hwy does this street racing take place on? -> this way i can avoid those lunatics and make sure that my passengers and I (and my car) are all in one piece.

We sometimes take pricess hwy down heading to and from the city - hardly see any street racing on the nights we go out (usually fridays or saturdays)

    • What does it look like with highway driving? And yes, I had a similar thought as Duncan. It looks quite similar in my Stagea and I have made myself accept it as normal. Might have to look into it some day
    • While I was waiting for the new parts to come in for the charge pipe and radiator I decided to do some turbo modification. The drive pressure (exhaust backpressure) was a lot higher that I thought it should be. For 32lbs of boost drive was 55lbs. The turbine housing is a 1.10AR and my turbo builder has suggested to go to a 1.25AR. To test if a larger AR would do anything to reduce drive pressure AND not spend any money I decided to hog out the divider in my current housing. I removed it from the inlet and the whole way through the housing.  After reassembly and testing it doesn't look like this modification did anything for reducing drive pressure or requiring more fuel (making more power). Oh well, it was worth a shot. We'll get some data at the track if it makes it past the 60ft. I also machined a $7 shift knob off Amazon to fit my Stillway shifter since I didn't like the Stillway shift knob. Next on the list was the radiator replacement and fabrication of a new intercooler tube that had no silicon coupler. No pictures of this - I was short on time each night after work to get this done and didn't stop to take pictures.  Next was to get the clutch disks out and replaced. Previously when installing the dogbox I had ordered a set of the same sintered iron disks I had been running because I switched to the 26-spline input shaft. I thought it was odd that they didn't have any markings or brand name on them like all my old disks had but installed them anyway. At the track I could not get the clutch to lock up using my normal strategies. After two track nights I reached out to the clutch manufacturer and ask their thoughts. They said they had to switch the material out because they were having trouble getting the original material and that this new material would not take to being slipped very well.  So out with the first set of 26-spline disks and in with the correct material 26-spline disks. While I had the trans out I added an inspection/service hole. I've wanted one of these for a while. Now I can have a look at things and change the front cover shimming when needed (clutch wear). I hustled and got the clutch change done in a few hours on a Saturday. Hopped in the car and drove home. On the way home I did a 1-3 pull. When shifting from 2nd to 3rd the core plug in the back of the cylinder head popped out and dumped all the coolant. Thankfully I was only 30 seconds from home and coasted it there. Datalog showed nothing unusual and 2.5psi of coolant pressure. That plug has been in there since 1992 but I guess it worked its way out. Pulled the trans AGAIN and replaced the plug, JB welded it in, and made a brace. Also deleted the head drain I had added in during the bearing issue fiasco.  I am currently changing my boost control plumbing to make it cleaner. After that is done I'll make another attempt at getting past the 60.
    • Are you 100% sure this isn't tune related?
    • 140-150 across the board. At this point hoping the grounding harness fixes it. My grounds are all tied to the chassis and none to the battery. For SR and KA that’s never been a problem for me but had a few other guys here and Reddit who told me RB really like a very solid ground setup tied to the battery so going to try that next, I’m stumped if that doesn’t do it. Never had a car have spark and fuel and not fire off before. Only thing I can think is the spark is intermittent/weak because of grounds nothing else really makes sense at this point
    • I am having close to the same issue. Can you help me with what wire you grounded to get your pump to trigger?
