Below is what i have decided on replacing from reading through all the topics i could find on 100,000km service.... which there arent really any that help.

Could i suggest that we make a sticky for the 100,000km service questions...???? I am only new, but i guess that helps in picking up on issues.

This is my first 100,000km service on any of the cars i have owned. Could i please get you guys (and girls) to see if i have a complete list, and if you'd trust Ultratune to carry this out??? Maybe even provide me with some estimates of what these items would cost? The guys at Ultratune seem young and drive performance cars...so i am hoping that helps them carry out things like this...but please give me your 2c, as i trust you are all have had experiences in this field...

I have already changed the Oil, Oil filter, Fuel Filter myself....

Timing Belt & Bearings

Belt tensioner Pulley

Idler pulley

Spark Plugs

Ancillary belts (alternator, water pump and the like)

Auto Transmission Fluid

Nissan N1 water pump

Check Engine Mounts

Radiator Flush

Cam Seals

Crank Seal

Break Fluid – If needed

Power Steering Fluid – If needed

Injector Clean – If needed

Check Hoses

Thanks for your help.

I had a look at the list before i made my decision on what i should get done... I live on the Sunshine Coast in QLD..... So its hard to find anyone who specialises in my type of car....

Perhaps i should re-phrase my question.

"Is there anyone out there that would trust Ultratune with this kind of work?"

Thanks for your help so far :)

"Is there anyone out there that would trust Ultratune with this kind of work?"

Not me.

Sure motors are motors but I'd rather go to someone that knows what they are doing without needing a manual. I'm not saying Ultratune (or any other generic service agency) aren't good at their job, just that I'd feel more comfortable having experts do it next time my 18 year old motor is at 7,000rpm :) :)

well i sit on the other side of hte fence

motors ARE motors when it comes to servicing

sure, for fitting of performance parts or for tuning you should take it to someone reputable, but for services ultratune are more than adequate. after all, they usually do hundreds more services than performance shops as they are constantly doing fleets and everyday cars for servicing.

so in my opinion, put your car into ultratune for your service and save about $500 over a "performance" shop equivalent service

Would you really save $500 over a 'performance' shop?

The important thing is to take it to some one who knows the RB's. Motors are not motors. Some one who doesn't deal with these RB's doesn't know that its recommended to replace the studs along with the tensioners at 100k. replace just the tensioners and retorque it up, possibly a little tight as they take a guesstimate and 5000k down the road BANG.. one broken stud and valves kiss the pistons.

If your 'performance' workshop is charging a shit load more for basic servicing I say find a performance workshop who is sensible as there is simply no need for stupidly priced servicing.

bottom line is how much is it costing you at ultratune? im getting my 100k done now as we speak. went through the same thing with different places for quotes. one was $100 cheaper than another who deal with gtrs daily. i chose to spend the extra $100 for piece of mind. dropped the ar off and straight away the pointed out that i needed my rocker gastket replaced and i have broken exhaust manifod studs. budgets blown out abit but hey at least its getting fixed. the pain of owning a skyline...lol

Hey Everyone,

I have decided not to go to Ultratune...found a quite reputable performance shop with a dyno (still cant believe it) here on the Sunshine Coast....I am spending at neat $1400 cash today on the below items...plus they a tuning it on a dyno (excited), my very first one....

Timing Belt & Bearings

Belt tensioner Pulley

Idler pulley

Spark Plugs

Ancillary belts (alternator, water pump and the like)

Auto Transmission Fluid

Nissan N1 water pump

Check Engine Mounts

Radiator Flush

Cam Seals

Crank Seal

Break Fluid

Power Steering Fluid

Injector Clean

Check Hoses

Chuck her on the Dyno.............:P

Total = $1400 neat...may be a little less when i go to pay....

Cant wait to have it running better again.

I had the above done, including a motor oil change with mobil 1, i think it was $1200 from boostworx. Definately take it to someone who knows RB motors, they found a flat spot in my car and fixed it up (turned out to be the afm).

yep stuff generic, leave them to there commy and falcons. i worked for a service centre, two actually both of which big name places and the amount of dodgy shit iv seen and been MADE to do is unbeleivable. eg: " hmm this auto trans pan bolt head snapped off" no worrys ill just GLUE IT BACK ON" hmm couple of bolts left over from this gear box R+R, excuse me boss iv got these left over can u help me find where they go, ill show u where they go, BIN" these places are shit house and from what iv experienced my car only gets worked on by me or somone who can tune work and almost make love to an RB.

Funny ay ive taken my car to a few of these performance shops when I had idle hunting probs and some other things. I went to the performance shops and i told them whats up and all they kept trying to do is sell me a power fc,do other mods and just cross sell and to diagnose the problem needed the car blah blah blah. Took it my local ultra tune. fixed it all up in 1 hour easy done. no probs at all.

The ONLY reason I go to my current mechanic is because I was sick of know-it-all workshops who gave me the "she'll be right, mate" response to my asking whether they were familiar with my type of car.

Stuart at Bezerkly told me that he hadn't worked on one before but that he was keen to learn the finer points of RB's and that it shouldn't be a problem. Since then, they've become the RB guru's in the Illawarra and at any one time can have 5 or 6 'lines in the shop.

The point is this; Common sense is always the first thing to look for when choosing a workshop to deal with your pride and joy. Everything else (claimed experiece, dyno results, convincing sales talk) comes second.
