POSTING FOR A FRIEND, PM ME IF YOU NO OR SEE ANYTHING

Happened 8th of jan in the early morning. police say 5-6 people entered my house without waking up anyone, took laptops,. ipods, and other stuff like mums wedding rings and left with my car and my dads car (which we found undamaged in nerang)

When we woke which was around 5:30am we noticed the cars were gone. Mine needing fuel so we proceeded into nerang to look, and too our shock there was my car at the set of lights out the front of dan murphys. we moved in front of them to block them in but they hit full boost and rammed my mums car totalling it.

It then went north towards pac pines, we rung tow trucks, garbage trucks and taxis to all keep an eye out. one tow truck driver (a close friend) informed us that my car had been in a high speed pursuit and highway patrol cars could not catch it. it was last seen headed into pac pines.

The police say there is a $5000 reward for the person driving the car which is thought to be an 18yo so called skyline bandit......

if anyone sees him or my car call police straight away who knows it could be a $5000 phone call..

nah, there has been a couple of blokes getting around stealing a whole heap of them in the last month and a bit.. 'the skyline bandit'. I've lost count, but seems to be near 10 they've stolen. I don't think any(?) have had alarms at all, or immobolisers.

Will be good if they've actually caught the guy.

I've seen your car around skyline_chick (before it was stolen)

it wasnt my car it was my mates. they cought him the skyline bandit. he wont say where the car is but.

bit of a shame really. you can't have a decent car without it being targeted. probably the reason I'm on the coast working a lot more now...

I'm going to pac pines in the morn so if I see somehting odd I'll ring the local cops.

    • I don't know, I've never done it that way, but 1. While it is an interference engine, there is still clearance between the valves and the piston at all points in the regular timing cycle 2. There is not a lot of distance before you can't catch the top of the valve stem any more I don't know if 2 is greater or less than 1. But 3. If it doesn't work out you are f**ked, engine is coming out to disassemble so it is a big bet.
    • Semi slicks are horrible for road use, just use a high performance road tyre unless you really need the maximum grip. Noisy, unpredictable (amazing, until they are not), expensive due to very high wear and not good in cold and particular wet. And yes, it is a thing to store cars on stands instead of tyres if you know they are going to be parked up long term.....but who ever realises that a short park is going to stretch into years before it is out again!
    • I know in Australia you'll definitely get above 30c. Parked in the shade in Summer you'll be above that. 😛 But in cooler climates, you might get that warm driving on the highway for a bit, but you'd never get to full heat temp. I'll try and find some of my historical tyre temps between Aus summer and winter (be aware immin the warmer area of Aus too.)
