LOL The same thing happened to me for mounting my plate on the left side.

I told the cop I check with vic roads and got the all clear.

Well he had nothing and let me on my way.

That’s bullsh!t dude, I hope that its all cleared.

3 Points for having a side mounted plate is rubbish.

Good luck.

after you have taken them to court and won easily, remember to claim every expense that is owed to you.

Also a letter to the Office of police integrity would be a great idea.

A black mark on an officers file will last a lot longer than a defect of bull***t charge on your car.

where are the number plates on an australian delivered FD RX7 positioned in factory form?

Is a good point and I kept my eyes open today. Spotted a silver stock looking one on coming off the freeway onto Kings way this evening, they are center mounted. Whether that was a ADM I'm not sure but was stock from the outside.

My car's factory position is similar to yours (except on the Left Hand Side).

Can't see how position (so long as it's clearly visible and no lower than the factory item) would matter?

ours is in this position and is even a sticker and we have never had trouble from the police.

but Vic cops have a bad attitude from what ive heard.

what do you have to do to claim your expenses?

Prove them

Your lawyer will know all about it.

You wont get "ALL" your expenses paid for.

Just lawyers fees/court costs etc.

Your time off from work generally is pushing it too far, sometimes you will get awarded your asking amount, othertimes the judge will make it what he see's fit.

If you settle out of court, the prosecutor can agree to the costs to be paid, but they will be substancailly lower as it never made it into the court room (which is what i will suspect will happen here)

yeah that's the same as my mate's car and never had a prob with it aswell.

fark seriously how unfair can ya get.

Moving the plate to another position is legal as long as it is visible from 2 metres away 45 degree angle. Sticker plates are not legal because they are not a numberplate at all. I got done doing 35km/h over the speed limit by a camera but got off it because i have stickers on the car instead of plates. I then had a cop come to my house and fine me for not displaying plates.

Here is some infor that Austrlian car manufactures must follow to for ADR.

Had a look at the ADRs. ADR 61-02 says that for all vehicles other than L class (Passenger cars are MA class) the licence plate must be parallel to and forward of the front axel and no more than 1300mm from the ground. Subpart 2 of the ADRS (which contains all the definitions of terms) defines an axel as follows,

One or more shafts positioned in aline across a vehicle, on which one or more wheels intended to support the vehicle turn.

The above is the basis for all laws in each state.

Ash is right. You will win in court.

Even if you just take an extract from the ADR's or a Vic Roads PDF along with you and represent yourself, You will still win.

So sign the back of the fine and send it in now. Don't let superman T.M.U push you around.

yeah u should win this...in fact I would be suprised it goes to court at all.

I put down $100 its dropped once they look at it...you might need to go on the day but once your sol. talks tot he cops they will not bother in court.

But if they do, u have a strong chance. I would go with proper representation cos you wont need to pay for it in the end if you win.

from what ive heard as long as its clearly on the front of the vehicle and is perpendicular to the road its fine... but police discresion and hard to understand laws, these kind of things often become tricky.. you should be allright though, good to see wonderful police resources were being used to fine you for your number plates, whilst a real crime was being commited only to find police resources tied up in other locations for things such as these!

    • Haha, i kow right? Could have bought so many cars for the same amount of money (or less) but driving Unicorn gives you at least +1mln to style 😅. Like wise man said "life's to short to drink cheap wine and drive boring cars" 😉
    • Newbie here, proud owner of an Autech 260RS. I'm on the hunt for wiring diagrams specific to the 260RS, particularly S1. I've ran my eyes through R33, R34 Diagrams, there are some similarities, however continue to find incorrect wire colours and pins on connectors in the 33,34 diagrams.   I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction? I'd be happy to pay for the originals in Japanese. I can translate them, at least they would be accurate.   Any help please would be greatly appreciated, never heard an RB26DETT before let alone driven one, and I've got a spaghetti monster of goodness to sort out.   Cheers Benny
    • Hey all  im wondering if you can help me please I have put a rb20 box in my r34 gtt as my auto packed up and a friend had a spare box I know it’s not ideal but it will get me up and running for now. we have done the conversation and everything is working great but my Speedo we got a s13 speed sensor but my Speedo reads double now and I bought a speed converter but still not having any luck.  so I thought I’ll reach out and pick your brains  any help would be appreciated please as I wanna drive my car again
    • Drain it. I got official Matic D but you can get whatever is listed as Matic D compatible.
    • Thanks guys,  Yeah I should at least have them dynoed, at least then I know what I've got as a starting point.  The springs on these are hard as rocks. I vaguely remember Russman saying he was going to sell the shocks to me with the rocks fitted, as he was keeping the softer springs for his new setup.  I didn't click at the time but of course that was to let me know the shock/spring wouldn't be matched.  I also remember pricing up new springs around 2014-15, but, house, money etc. it never happened. So that was another reason to have them rebuilt. I have rebuilt the forks on many motorcycles so I think I could handle the seals on these easily enough, but getting the valving right would be a rabbit hole I cbf exploring.  Duncan, interesting to hear RP was tuning these back then. I might give them a call.  In the mean time I have been busy fitting sway bars. The Whiteline rear sway bar I purchased 15 years ago finally got fitted, along with the Whiteline front bar that showed up last week. Just waiting on new links for the front sway bar to finish that off.  And my spare set of advan AVS VS5's should be back from the powder coaters in a Pearl White finish sometime this week, with a set of Hankook RS4's lined up for fitting.  And then I just have all the suspension bushes to do. A comprehensive kit is on the way... Lots to do before the Ararat hill climb. Cheers guys 🍻
