They are a much better car than the previous models, but that doest mean they are perfect by any stretch. I drove an SSV which was sensational, nice ride, great power and handled pretty decent for a standard road car. This was a nice example. Then i drove an Omega, brakes grinding on mild application, rear suspension so soft it shifted the car half a lane sideways on bump rebound, and the steering felt totally dead. This car was a dud. Both were new cars with under 5000 kms. Holden just doesnt have the build quality or have that solid quality feel. But at their price point i guess you cant really argue, it costs money to build a quality vehicle and the average would agree to pay that much....

my 2 cents :P

only commodore i have ever liked is the walkinshaw, other holdens i like are all old skool, for performance i would take a skyline or rotary over a commodore and for a four door cruiser either a skyline or fairlane.

yes the new Commo has cahnged my view...I used to think they were an average looking car and now I think they are a fkn ugly looking car

I don't like some of the design of the new one either. Mostly the wheelbase in relation to over hang and heavy rear end (looks especially bad on cooking models) and front headlights - too soft. But the rear of the HSV looks great IMO.

The new Maloo looks crazy and I think the new Sportswagon very nice.

Black VE GTS, black 22s, no spoiler, TT kit :D

I like your thinking. :D

Sh@un, it was so over the top, true. But it was to improve the aerodynamics of the VL, maybe it needed a lot of improving... And hence how extreme it was?? :laughing-smiley-014:

sounds OK

the V8SC version of the VE is so much tougher due to the 150mm they took out of the wheel base

I've been having mixed feelings of the VE as of late.

I don't know why but I'm starting to like the VY-VZ shape more and more, and I thought they were ugly.

When the new Falcon comes out, the VE is going to look very old, and I'm not a big fan of the Maloo.

The sportswagon is very nice though, and I've never been a wagon fan.

:P

they cant even compete against fords at bathurst.... told u there crap lol.

by the way go ford!! woot

lol @ people who think the V8 Supercars share anything remotely to road versions, bar the shell and Holden or Ford stickering/badging.

nah lol. i just love sticking it to the hsv fans. cause they think their sedans are supercars when they win a race.

I gotta say the front of the VE looks a little too BA ford-like. And the wheel arch flares look rediculous on anything thats got smaller than 19" wheels.

The only thing holdens got going for it is that massive 6.0 V8 engine. But when your hauling a squillion tons its a complete waste of time.

I raced one of the HSV R8 VEs and i left it behind  and i gave him a rolling start to about 30kph.

:nyaanyaa:

The australian touring car series is a joke. Bring back group A.

what a lot of you fail to take into account is not every body buys a car for the same reasons . ie i brought my r33 cause i liked the look has reasonably performance and handles nice. BUT would i throw 3 kids in it pack up a weeks worth of holiday gear and hook up my 18 ft fishing boat to it .

no friggen way cause thats not what it was designed to do for cases like that i use my falcon station wagon .

you may have brought your lines for various reasons but those reasons may not suit someone else . would i but a new commy ? shit yeah if i wanted to spend the dough i reckon they look great . show me a car that will do everything i need and i will buy i dont think such a car exist

people here are so one eyed about there lines ought to open both eyes you see twice as much that way

Plus weather you buy the orion or SS-V They still share the same single action twin piston brakes that first came out on the VS  ... A bit of a concern if you ask me

    • Put a fuel pressure gauge on it. Replace the turbos. Probably completely separate issues.
    • What copper washer do you guys use on the bleeder bolts? The existing one I have I had no idea where to find it in a local store, I did buy some online but that are only 1mm thick whereas my old one is 2mm+ thick and when I put the new washer out and squeeze the top radiator hose I can hear a bit of air but not with the old one. Does this matter? The new one doesn't leak, but the inner diameter is a bit loose whereas the old one threads on the bolt.
    • Howdy all, after being out a few weeks ago on a spirited drive in my GTR I have 2 issues that oddly have appeared at the same time. Whilst accelerating quickly through the gears all of a sudden i’ve lost power at the top of third gear (below redline around 6000rpm) for no obvious reason.    From that point onwards the car has been running rich on idle, won’t really rev under load without a ton of black smoke and the odd backfire, and dying as a pull up to a set of lights unless I keep the revs up around 1500rpm. In addition when shutting down the car that same night (I was 10 minutes from home) I noticed one of the turbos was significantly noisy on wind down when shutting off the engine. After letting the car cool down overnight it starts up fine, although once it gets to temp the revs start to creep up and down, the exhaust is darker than it should be and it also sounds like it’s running rich (fat note) I’ve put a new set of plugs in it - no change, the old plugs all seemed OK with two of them being somewhat richer/fueled up than the other 3 with 1 being borderline. I’ve smoked tested the intake system via the front of the Turbos, found a split vacuum hose going to the factory boost gauge sender, which I have since replaced.  Also found another leak on the gasket coming off the rear turbo outlet, have also replaced this. After fixing both of these leaks - still have the running rich issue. I’ve also tried another pair of AFM’s - no change here After pulling off the front turbo intake pipes, there is obvious shaft play in the front turbo, which now hisses loudly on light revvs although I can’t see why this would make the car run funny even under idle. I’m curious to know why it’s running rich before I potentially replace/rebuild turbos. The car is completely stock <50,000kms  other than an exhaust. Oil and coolant are all clear. I haven’t bothered with coil packs as it looks like they won’t be the issue due to condition of the plugs. Any help appreciated as I cry myself to sleep!
    • No probs at all. I used to love trying to dig up obscure info for those in need where possible going back 20+ years on SAU.  I did have another look and couldn't come up with any closer match. I'm leaning towards those skirts in your first pic are custom fitments, cut down/extended or from another car entirely and modded to fit an R34 sedan. I would've thought someone in Japan had them and taken a photo at some stage over the last 2 decades but there's nothing. Someone out there must know surely.
