:P

The new model will be a conventional five-door hatchback, rather than the more conventional four-door saloon and estate variants we've come to know, and was previewed by the B5 TPH concept which appeared at the last Tokyo auto show (see gallery). However, Subaru isn't breaking with tradition under the bonnet; the new Impreza will be powered by a choice of naturally-aspirated 1.5- and 2.0-litre petrol 'flat-four' boxer engines to begin with.

The iconic turbocharged Impreza STi will come later. It will feature body styling even more extravagant to the current car, and is likely to be powered by an evolution of the 2.5-litre engine Subaru currently offers, but we won't get to see it until 2008. There are no plans to carry over the intermediate WRX model.

I heard that Mitsubishi are meant to be bringing out a cheaper version of the Evo, to compete with the WRX.

thats what i was gonna say. if they do it right, people will just move to the new lancer from the wrx. bad move by subaru (unless the sti will come down in price)

I heard that Mitsubishi are meant to be bringing out a cheaper version of the Evo, to compete with the WRX.

Yer, there will be a glorified lancer to mid-entry and the EVO is marked to take a bit of a price hike in the EVO X.

I forget the configuration of the mid-level though.

Good it's about time, i'm sick of all the early 90's cars that are still around.

It's time manufactures look at doing something new.

70's and 90's cars were cool tho.

there's hardly any car that was built in the last 6 years that i'd get over my 1990 gtr.

which market was this meant for?? different markets get different cars, in the UK rego cost is based on engine capacity ie; bigger engine, more money you pay so something like the standard WRX may not be a big seller in the UK so there sticking to smaller engines for the low end of the market, and STI's for the top end.

i do know that Subaru are going to totally redesign the Impresa but have not herd of anything about dropping the WRX, think of all the sails they'll louse, it's one the biggest sellers.

come off it, 40k for an awd turbo flat 4, that was an awsome deal, hence the popularity eh.

ofcoarse add on the dealer crap of like 5-7k and theres your bs price

but something that could, turn, brake, ad some sway bars an handle and with some small mods make some decent power.

I've never even owned one an i will miss the wrx for what it was. common mans sports car.

aus trim came with recaros leather wheel etc, thats just awsome for hte price.

hell cheaper to mod than my line is.

    • Hi. This is just my curiosity because iam sure the tuner figure something out...but either way i want to ask. The "problem" is that the Nistune ECU (Stagea FW and RB25DET NEO from Stagea) sees many times the speed than the speedo does(he says the speedo show 120 km/h - correct speed and the ECU shows like 510km/h ) I told him that this car/tranny getting speed from rear diff. If iam not mistaken the RB25DET NEO "need" to see tranny speed sensor? (my tranny has the plug for it). So couple of "question" If he connects/wire the speed sensor to the tranny...are the signals gonna intervene and if...what if he disconnects the rear diff one and the speedo stops working? Or the "new" sensor from the tranny "take over" and will not going need the one from diff? As i said i know he figure/get that done...iam just curious to know what are the solutions 🙂
    • Your IACV is set to idle too low. You need to adjust it via the screw Duncan mentioned. From memory it should be 650rpm with the valve electrics unplugged. What is it trying to idle at with the IACV plugged in?
    • Ahhh, I need the whole head unit. I definitely needed to roll back through and review your setup, ha ha! Neat setup they have going on. I just need a full double din head unit. But I want good and responsive. I might have to review what the likes of pioneer have out these days.
    • Ok so after much research and talking with knowledgeable people I've got my turbo conversion done and it's all running great other than 1 small issue.  Car has remained auto with the na auto and tcm, I've used a stagea ecu with. NIstune board and everything is great other than my gear selection on the dash. It illuminates park, reverse, neutral, 3rd and 2nd. But nothing drive or what gear your in when you pop it into tiptronic.  I'm sure there is may e 1 wire in the ecu plug I need to move to rectify this. Dose anyone here have any ideas?   Cheers guys
    • Sorry I haven't been following all the detail, so you may have tried this. Does it idle with the tiniest bit of throttle you can add? You've mentioned the IACV, does it have an AAC valve and have you adjusted it at all (ie, screw the idle adjust screw all the way in, then back it out a couple of turns until idle is stable)?
