Another greatly successful and fun DECA!!

Thanks to all who gave up their time to make the event run smoothly.

I loved my newly gained response and torque; probably a little too much :D.

A little hairy moment on the back-track when the ass end got light over the crest and directed me off road. Kept a level head, eased off the power and steered into the dirt then after about 50m eased the car back on the black and got back into it.

Hopefully by next DECA i'll have my suspension sorted.

Thanks Martin for the clips, they look great!!

ok all video's are now uploaded..enjoy.

Thanks. You took some good vids of me and Baxter driving the Z. Thanks for that. The aus300zx members will be pleased. I also linked to vids of Ben, who is one of the aus300 forum moderators, driving the burgundy jspec imports R33.

Thanks to everyone that made the day run as smoothly as it did. It was my first time and definately won't be my last.

Also much thanks to the AA group, i managed to go through a whole year without getting pissed....one night with you guys and that went down the drain...lol

Thanks again to all those involved...

My car picked up a nasty vacuum leak sometime between the start of a run and the end.

Let's hope it's a hose or a aac or something simple. You get some "piss off hoon" looks from people at traffic lights when your car idles between 1850 and 1950rpm and pulses..... It very tiring driving to work and having the damn thing surge at 60kph.

Anywho, Had and awesome day, decided that I was going to go FTW this deca and not hack it up on the skid pan so I'm SUPER KEEN to get the results.

Bring them on!

Pete - I think both you and Adam (and maybe Ryan but I didn't get to see much of him during the day) showed that you can drive sideways AND fast at the same time. It was very impressive to watch and showed a lot of skill.

I think some of the 1st timers might have been a bit awed by some of the driving being done but really most of the skills have just come from being regular attendants at these days. We really need to get DavidM back as in the early days he was in a league of his own in RWD.

...Poite, i have no idea how you get the power down on street tyres. My thing is fun on streets but i couldnt control it.

...i had been doing so well with the booz since NYE...im kind of pissed off with myself that i fell off the wagon so hard. Mostly because i was enjoying having so much cash from the absence of big nights. I really need to strap a hidden camera to myself and see if i can sell my benders to VH1 or something

Well what another fantastic weekend, I had a great day and must admit that those battle runs are my favorite of all the ones we have done.

They are a good pace and loads of fun!!

Thanks to everyone who helped out on the day. Great to meet some new members. Aaron & Tim, you guys did really well and I look forward to seeing you at the next one.

Feeling very exhausted after our trek from Shepparton to Portsea and back to Brighton yesterday for dinner, Finally got home at 9.30 last night.

But it was all worth it!! FUN FUN FUN!

it was my first deca, and i can say that i absolutely loved it. For that i have to thank all the officials and volunteers.

even though i was quite slow and i reckon that i doubled the cones average single handedly :-) i still had a lot of fun. Thankx to Alan and James for letting me be a passenger in their cars and Sam for being a passenger in my car and directing me.

i will finish by saying, I will be back.

    • The wiring diagram for the R33 RB25 is freely available, and is essentially the same same as most other RBs (just with differences as to which pin # does which job). To get the ECU to power up, you just need to provide power to the ECCS relay, and have the other power feeds that come in from the top left of the wiring diagram (wrt the ECU) that give perma power to the fuel pump relay, the ECU itself, etc etc, all connected. When you put power on all these it will just come to life. It's pretty clear from the diagram what needs to happen. Just follow the lines from the 12V + supply stuff in the top left over towards the ECU. I've even posted snips of such diagrams (not for vanilla 25, I think for Neo and 26) to various threads here in the last few months, talking about what it takes to get the fuel pump and FPCM up and going. Search these up and they will help get you started on doing the same with the vanilla 25 diagram. Hell, for all I know, I've done the same with that one in years past and have forgotten.
    • Yep...so unless someone posts up the answer you will need to probe from the ECU connector to the dash plug with a multi meter in continuity mode to trace the wires.  Note the ECU has multiple - and + (and across different key settings - Battery, IGN and Start) and most likely the power is fed from the connector(s) that is normally near the left hand headlight.
    • Thanks Duncan, I am actually just trying to get the Rb turning and running with the RB25DET S2 original loom itself  I am just trying to get it going outside the body and not thinking about the S15 or trying to match anything to the S15 loom at all I am only trying to see if anyone has done this and what pin they found to be the ignition trigger and ECU+/- on the dash connector, that's about it. Thanks
    • Hi Guys, Does anyone know any aftermarket part numbers for a starter motor to suit the VQ25DET? I can find lots of alternative part number for the VQ35DE, which I assume would fit, but there is a lot of conflicting information out there. Thanks..
    • I don't understand how this hasn't boiled down to - Upgrade the turbo when you have everything required. ECU, injectors, fuel pump, turbo, etc. Do it all at once.  If you don't have everything required, just enjoy the car as it is and keep saving up your pennies.
