Hi all,

What a great show and credit to all who helped put the club display on. This club has some very dedicated members, well done.

It was great to finally meet some of you guys there on Saturday. All the Sky's look great and looks like some you spent small fortune on your ride. My little boy loved the orange R34 and my fav was Duncans beast.

Corrine and Duncan thanks for the shirt, It's my special event shirt only now.

See you around :teehee:

Dave :P

if you had all brought along your 22" Blings, we would've won all the trophies......
Sorry... didn't have time to take them off dad's airbagged Chirade...

ya.. that's exactly the reason why autosalon is a waste of time and money..

not everyone is there to see bling. the stand watching the supra and the R32 pulling huge numbers off the dyno were maxed out.

think of it this way. you can either:

(a) do up a S15 silvia, with candy paint, 22" chrome, leather interior, etc. and pick up all the size 0 skanks that come walking around and have all the lil 6yo kiddies going "w0w mommy thats a nice car" and take home a $12 trophee, OR

(b) have a display with track cars looking clean and respectable, getting the attention of all the mature ppl and actually having a conversation with them about your car and ur plans and whats done to it and knowing that atleast you have a chance of driving home that night unlike some other bling bling that fcuk up all around us.

i know which one ill go for!

Well done to all the SAUer's in our display...we did what we could, with what was available to us and I thought we did great.. :whistling:

Thanks for all that put in your cars, we had 13 cars displayed and that was fantastic :P

Massive Thanks to all the people that helped out and came to Autosalon to support the club it was great to hang out with you peeps all weekend and would love to do it again.. :D

Autosalon is very different to what we like to promote as a club but still think its a great idea to put a display on as we are a club of all events and it is awesome fun :D We got alot of attention and signed up a few new members and we showed people who SAU NSW is....

I had a great weekend......Thanks guys you did exceptionally well.....Hi5!!!! :)

Being my first Auto Salon I was unsure what to expect, driving home on Friday night I realised there was not one piece of custom paint or chrome to be seen in our SAU stand. We were a little out of place but as far a PR exercise it was a success.

On Sunday arvo Abo Bob and I were walking around and we were approached by a paint shop who will be putting in an R32 next year. He commented that SAU is not about the bling but more about the go. He further stated ”this show was not really our scene, but its good you are here”. At the end of the conversation he questions advertising and sponsor cost on our forum. Obviously this is the good outcome from the show, should it progress.

Personally I had a great 2 days, it was good fun, hanging around the “Bro’s” and the dyno attention was something special. The highlight was having one or two beers with Abo Bob on Sunday arvo and taking some real time to have a good close look at almost every car and catch up with a few of the owners and hearing their stories. I would loved to have seen someone from SAU take an award, but the outcome was to be expected as the cars on display were virtually blingless.

Thanks to everyone who put in time to organise the event and assist with everything that had to happen to make the day work.

Not that I'm taking offence to your comments at all but I think we were just showing what we as a club are about. We drive our cars and I think that's the main difference between us and most of the other show ponies there.

Well done to all who attended and helped make it a positive weekend, especially those who didn't have a car entered. I think it did plenty for the club and Skylines in general. The race cars were a highlight and certainly drew a lot of attention. Thanks to Duncan and Kel for getting them there and thanks again to everyone else.

Hey Charlie - did you end up putting your car on the Dyno ?

Brendan

PS - Great to see track & stock cars representing the club at the bling fest. I would have given you first place ! And I didn't even go !

I have to say that I had a great (but very exhausting) weekend! Our main goal was to represent the club as a group of enthusiasts, and we managed to attract plenty of positive attention thanks to the Targa Tassie GT-Rs of Duncan and Kel's and Mark's crashed one. I think it's safe to assume that EVERY SINGLE person who walked past these two cars stopped to have a look, and quite a few people asked about what had happened to it.

As has already been mentioned, we didn't attend AutoSalon with the intention of competing with all the blinged-up, air-bagged, airbrushed, cars with bright pink leather, PS2s or XBOXes, and 30 monitors, most of which came and left on flatbed trucks or trailers. Hence why our cars mostly looked "stock." The ONLY cars we had at our display to arrive and leave on trailers were the Targa cars.

No, we didn't win any awards, but it was our first time there, and we learnt a lot from the experience which will help us on any future shows we attend.

    • Hi all, so some of my speakers still work some I don’t think work. The old head unit is still all functional. If I keep the stock head unit as I feel it’s vintage then can I just pop in new speakers - would that be plug and play? Would I need to bypass the amps in the doors and back? Heard there’s 3 of them.  anyone run a blue tooth into the stock head unit? Or is the only option running one of those tape decks with cable coming out?  my cd deck controller although rare I don’t think is working anymore either. Guess if I got that working with the speakers then I could load some cds.    just seeing my options here if anyone has some advise.
    • My trusted mechanic is Tunehouse in Calder St, Marrickville. He's the guy who did the ECUtek dyno tune on mine. I'm nearing the 85k mark for my motor and I'm considering getting the oil galley gaskets done as preventative maintenance when the time comes. Since my garage isn't big enough for such a task, I'm definitely going to be handing it over to him. You'll be impressed by how clean he keeps his workshop. It gives you the confidence he and his employees will look after your vehicle with the same pride.
    • The Bogan Sports Car now has fresh gear bag and diff oil The old gear bag oil was nice and clean looking, the old diff oil was average looking, not horrible, just dark, I've seen worse in other cars, much worse Good things was that both drain plug magnets looked good with zero bits of anything apart from a small coating of that typical black goo you get on the diff plug, it was probably the original diff oil, but nothing shiny The shifts are sweet, and the Torsen is Torsening like a boss (tested in the work vehicle maintenance yard after work). LOL In other noise related news, the Racing Beat axle back sound nicer than stock from outside with the roof down, but still pretty quiet, but it's not noticeable at all really inside with the roof up.....maybe it needs a header.....🤪  This is what a OEM header looks like 😝 > 🤣🤣🤣🤑
