Well, its never going to happen. But would love to see Seton get a result. Wish he was driving with Skaife

Sorry Roy but Seto is destined for nothingness at Bathurst. Poor bastard,,,he's old school and now just making up the numbers.

Whiplash,,,mate the car looks fat,,,bloody fat actually,,,but could we have pics of the race car,,,not that promo one,,,god I love those rims though.

Duncan,,,rules say you can't call spotto till you see one. Minus 1 for you and + 1 for Kelly,,,you idiot.

Neil.

Steven Johnson underated? Oh c'mon he only has the drive because of his dad otherwise any other team would have given him the boot a long time ago, he's just another Brad Jones..... whinges alot but never gets any results worth writing about.

How Jack Perkins keeps his ride is beyond me though, he's gotta be costing Larry an absolute packet!

Seen about a dozen more transporters heading thru the moutains today, quite a few promo cars being driven up and the odd WRX or other povo car on the back of a U-Haul.

utter bullshit neil. we made up the rules and any mention counts, doesnt have to be "seen"

Get ya hand off it udder head,,,I've asked the boys and both stated quite clearly you are wrong.

It's a race next time you 4 at our place as I have 5 in the fridge.

Ben,,,are you serious,,,Junior is a great driver and I'll stand by my comment. He is a very underrated driver. You may well eat your words come sunday arvo.

Neil.

If Junior finishes in the top 2 i'll run conrod naked and put a video of it on YouTube. That guy NEEDS 161 laps just to recover from his slow ass driving. He's just a younger Seton.

yeah baby. I'd love to see skaife and seto get a win. plus it would see the value of my seton seat skyrocket! noice.

I reckon skaifey and toddles will get the job done. skaife is due for something.

Please please get a wax first Ben,,,

1st practice session guess who's fastest,,,bahhahhah car 17 Johnson/Davison.

Neil.

He hasn't raced good since Peter Jackson was wiped from the side of his car....

I thought he won the ATCC with Ford Credit written on the side of his car?

My 10 cents owrth: It only went pear for him when the AU hit the track - which was somewhat pear shaped itself now that I think about it. ;)

yeah seto was a top drive who was let down by his machinery in later years. but still ATCC champ and many times a race winner means he certainly isn't a hack. and watching him drive baileys sports sedan around oran GP recently I couldn't help but be impressed.

LMAO- I'll join you in that run Ben, provided I get to use a few strategically placed checkered flags

No comments about waxing please Neily.

Seriously, Junior gives me the shites - I'm so sick of seeing him make a goose of himself, posturing and whining about absolute crap thanks to the new rule letting drivers say what they like to the media.

And don't get me started on the talent thing. I'm sure Junior can steer, but (fastest lap today aside) I'm also sure there are plenty of drivers with more talent watching the v8s on the tellie this weekend, cos their dad's aren't former champs/ own their own race outfits.

Funny how that last statement could be applied to LOTS of the V8 field today

Skaife is due for a nose job and that is all.

As for talent? What about [P]rick Kelly winning the title last year??? At least Junior is just inheriting in an honourable way and not making teams whore themselves for Dads' money Kel.

Plus I'll pay to see Kel and Neil do the 'rod in chequers. Duncan, tell me where to paypal the payment mate.

Final word. See last years result. 888 FTW even in a new car.

    • I get that taking off the head is best but that's a bit much for "just" valve seals. I was just under the impression that one would be able to rotate to TDC and be able to temporarily drop the valve without losing it and effectively having to remove the head to then recover it. I never knew people actually pushed rope into the cylinder to do valve seals hahaha So just to confirm, just going to TDC will not work? In that case I know when I do valve seals I'll maybe just remove the head and do some other things while I'm there, or just wait until I do an engine build.
    • The old approach was to fill the cylinder/chamber with a length of rope pushed in through the sparkplug hole. The new approach is to connect compressed air to the sparkplug hole and fill it with enough pressure to push the valves up. Doing either of these things with the head on and the engine in the car is a lot less pleasant than doing it properly.
    • Can't you put the pistons to TDC and then do the valve seals? Or will the drop down too far to pull them back up?
    • One thing I can tell you is, do it properly the first time. If you encounter unexpected problems just let the car sit for a week or two if you have to get some other parts or figure stuff out.  I'd have said go and use as many OEM parts as possible but since you want to change the turbo later on a custom kit is probably the better choice. Since I have no experience with RB25 just compare parts diagrams and images before buying a line kit and it should be easy to see if it has everything you need. Amayama has very good parts diagrams and part number lists, that is what I used a bunch to figure out what I might need. And don't forget to plan ahead and possibly renew other stuff that's easy to get to while you're in there doing the turbo lines. Happy wrenching
    • Update 4:   Hi all, good news. Engine is running and all the gaskets and seals seem to be working as intended. No leaks so far, even the JB Weld seems to hold. I flushed out the old coolant a few times and put in fresh coolant, not Nissan stuff, I decided to try the Ravenol Protect FL22, they claim it works for a wide variety of JDM cars and the opinions on it by some people were pretty good. And it has the nice poison green color! And man am I glad I bought a coolant system tester earlier this year, vacuum filling works wonders on this engine. I can definitely recommend this to anyone still doing it the old school way. All you need is compressed air supply. Will have to do a small test drive as soon as I can, I removed the gauge cluster again as the tacho needle was still bouncing around a bit but it was much better than before already.  I also found some cracks on all 4 tires inner and outer sidewalls. Apparently these tires should 't be parked on for extended periods or be kept under 0 degrees during storage, which I did not know. Clearly the previous owner didn't look into those details either, he probably bought them just cause they are cool semi-slicks. I'm just wondering how tf I am supposed to reach 30-80 degree tire temperatures on the public road consistenly, these tires were never going to work for my use case. I'll probably order Continental SportContact7 ones as these are the best allround summer tire available right now and I don't think I'll need anything crazier for now. Do let me know if you have experience with various tires and which ones you recommend.
