why cant i put a f**king link to my 'for sale add' in qld thread from the nationwide thread. Obviously its important to post on the nationwide thread as well as our own qld thread but whats the point of uploading all the same shit again (no point).

The rules state as below no links to external sites, Not our own site. Blitz has got some serious power issues. Aus to Qld isn't a problem.

7. No external links! - Do not post likes to items being sold on e-bay, or other forums. If you wish to start a thread advertising the same items on SAU, you must include all details and price in your thread. Asking people to refer to e-bay for more info is not acceptable. If you're too lazy to copy and paste the details on here, your thread will be deleted.

Do you think this is fair??????????

I know this isnt general automotive but i need people's opinions and the people who would be concerned would read this thread.

The rules of SAU are fairly simple, and have been in place for a long time.

Everyone else manages to follow them, so im not sure why its such a task for you to do the same.

You knew the rules when you posted, and you have quoted them in this thread so the only problem I can see here is that you are more interested in throwing your hands up and having a whinge than respecting the simple rules that moderators and administrators set out for Skylines Australia.

A lot of work goes into providing this great free forum to our users, yet there are the odd few like yourself that arent members and have never made a contribution to the running of the forum (from what I can tell) who post away, with full knowledge of the rules in place, then complain when they are pulled up for breaking these very rules.

I have offered to discuss this with you via pm - Feel free to take up that offer

Its not like its hard. Just go to your original post, click edit then copy and paste everything. If the pictures where uploaded by imageshack or something there should be a link. so copy and paste away. takes like 10 seconds.

omg stop sucking up to the administrators, they're r not goin to f**k you. If you don't have anything useful to add don't say anything.

I'm happy to follow the rules. I haven't broken any as far as i'm concerned. All the information is on SAU. It is not an external link. I do not feel this is a loop hole. I think if anything the rules need to be amended. What's so hard bout hitting a link to the main thread anyway? I understand if its to a diff site but the same site, i don't get it. Then you have to manage two threads, then people will ask the same questions twice, then bla bla bla, a million other things.

Unecessary and annoying

Actually, I'd have to agree here.

A literal interpretation of 'external links' would have to be links to off-SAU. If the

rule actually meant 'any links' there's no reason to include 'external' - the inclusion

highlights its meaning.

The rule as written and explained seems to be to prevent people from posting a

for-sale item on a non-SAU site (the example is ebay) then linking to it from SAU.

If the link is internal to SAU then the rule as written is not broken - the mod

is enforcing an incorrect interpretation of the written rule.

The mods are supposed to be able to exercise their discretion; but the rules

are there so people know what behaviour is expected of them (and the rule

once written should be followed by the mods too).

If the desired behaviour is in fact 'no links' then the rule should be rewritten

without the word 'external'.

Personally, I can't see the point in maintaining two threads with potentially

exactly the same content. I don't see why links shouldn't be permitted within

intra-SAU threads. If we're worried that a person will 4-sale in every forum

under the sun, perhaps a rule could be written like 'keep your 4-sale posts

only to relevant forums - don't post in NT if you live in NSW' for example.

FWIW I don't think it's an 'abuse of power' - I think the mod _has_ incorrectly-interpreted

the rule, but that this isn't a deliberate or malignant interpretation. The mod is doing

what they believe that they should.

And I'd like to see the mod's justification as to why they think 'external links' should

include 'on-SAU links' too :)

Saliya

Read the forum guidelines perhaps?

No Spamming

:)

Not sure who you're responding to, but I doubt that this is the rule

that was invoked.

If it were, there's no way the mod would have suggested copy/paste

the original content to a new thread - that's just as much spam as a link.

Saliya

Is it really 'important' to post your ad in two places? I would have thought if you were worried about duplication the easy way would be to just post one thread. You've already got an (oversized) signature advertising your car for sale, not like it's easy to miss that whenever you post.

its the kind of car where i get calls from as far as adelaide so it is important not to only have an ad in the qld section. I've already explained this.

And what the f**k are you on about r31nismoid??? did you read the thread b4 u posted??

    • Yep, if you are applying filler it sounds like there is something wrong with the body lol. Safe to assume there is going to be a lot of sanding going on if your still applying fillers.  Picture a perfect bare metal panel, smooth as glass. You lay down your primer, it's perfect. (why are you going to sand it?) You lay down the colour and clear, it's perfect. No sanding at all took place and you've got a perfectly finished panel.  You won't be chasing your tail, sounds like you were prepping to start laying filler. If your happy with the body after the sanding, there is some bare metal exposed and some areas with primer, no issues at all, start laying the filler. You are safe to lay filler on bare metal or primer (of course check your technical data sheet as usual for what your filler is happy to adhere to).  This isn't a 100% correct statement. There is primer that is happy to adhere to smooth bare metal. There are fillers that are happy to adhere to smooth bare metal. Just make sure you're using the right materials for the job.  Typically if you are using filler, you would go primer, colour and clear. I've never seen any instances before where someone has laid colour over body filler (maybe this happens, but I haven't seen it before). So your plan sounds pretty normal to me.
    • I don't think there's any way someone is push starting this car.. I honestly can barely move it, and moving it and steering it is just flat out not possible. I'm sure it is, but needs a bigger man than me. I have a refurbished starter now. The starter man was quite clear and consise showing me how nothing inside a starter really should contribute to slow cranking, and turned out that for the most part... my starter was entirely fine. Still, some of the wear items were replaced and luckily it didn't show any signs of getting too hot, being unfit for use, etc. Which is 'good'. I also noticed the starter definitely sounded different, which is a bit odd considering nothing should have really changed there.... Removed and refit, and we'll pretend one of the manifold bolts didn't fully tighten up and is only "pretty" tight. GM only wants 18ft/lb anyway. I also found a way to properly get my analog wideband reading very slightly leaner than the serial wideband. There's Greg related reasons for this. The serial output is the absolute source of truth, but it is a total asshole to actually stay connected and needs a laptop. The analog input does not, and works with standalone datalogging. Previously the analog input read slightly richer, but if I am aiming at 12.7 I do not want one of the widebands to be saying 12.7 when the source of truth is 13.0. Now the source of truth will be 12.65 and the Analog Wideband will read 12.7. So when I tune to 12.7 it'll be ever so slightly safer. While messing with all of this and idling extensively I can confirm my car seems to restart better while hot now. I did add an old Skyline battery cable between the head and the body though, though now I really realise I should have chosen the frame. Maybe that's a future job. The internet would have you believe that this is caused by bad grounds. In finding out where my grounds actually were I found out the engine bay battery post actually goes to the engine, as well as a seperate one (from the post) to the body of the car. So now there's a third one making the Grounding Triangle which is now a thing. I also from extensive idling have this graph. Temperature (°C) Voltage (V) 85 1.59 80 1.74 75 1.94 70 2.1 65 2.33 60 2.56 55 2.78 50 2.98 45 3.23 40 3.51 35 3.75 30 4.00   Plotted it looks like this. Which is actually... pretty linear? I have not actually put the formula into HPTuners. I will have to re-engage brain and/or re-engage the people who wanted more data to magically do it for me. Tune should be good for the 30th!
