Ryno also won't insure in a double security gated basement carpark and would only give me their value of the car.

I actually had the same thing Daniel with the price matching. When I asked why it had gone up $200 in a year and I explained I had been a good customer, was that THE best they could do, the guy blamed the computer! "Computer says this, we have to do this" I explained I would have to look elsewhere and still nothing, quite surprising I thought. :)

Hey adz did you deal with anyone in particular? or just call up?

Aaron

We had 3 guys from Shannons at the meeting on tuesday night..All good guys :)

Ring Shannons on 134646 and ask to speak to Xavier,Nick or Vince tell them your with SAUvic

They will look after you..

Yeah I just called and I spoke to one of the guys there, he was a top guy and even offered me a cover note. I was really impressed. I've rung them in previous years and not gotten the best reception but they were VERY warm this time. How this for gold too, the premium was MORE expensive with Just cars! I just checked my renewal last night. Shannon's is $50 cheaper, now I want to call Just Cars and ask them to drop it and when they so no I'll tell them to blow it out their asses :ninja:

Adz mate, don't even stay with Just Rip-Offs if they offer you like $50 cheaper. Your repairer, excess, features with shannons are waaaaay better.

Damn it, so there are new SAU Vic shannons people!

Can you call outside a renewal time and ask to see if anything can be "tweaked"? :ninja:

Not quite mate. We had 3 people from Shannons speak at the meeting on Tuesday but they were more generic Shannons than SAU reps at Shannons. The guys knew their cars but they are not like Matt (B00sted) was as a forum user and employee.

Cams licence gets a discount as does multi car. :)

  • 3 weeks later...

Just got my renewal notice from Just cars - not happy at all!

This would have been my fifth year of insurance with them with my R32 gtst, but my insurance has gone up this year by $70.

The last four years were:

$1700

$1200

$950

$930

And now they slug me $998 again! So I've paid them close to $5000 over the last four years, never had a claim, and I'm now 25 and they INCREASE my premium. What a joke... They even decreased the agreed value by $1000 since last year.

i just can't work out way my premium went up. I'll be giving shannons a call definately, although even with Matt's help last year they couldnt match the just cars price.

I'm with shannons, agreed value of my r33 of 30k for $800 premium and 600 excess when i have my other car insured with them also...best deal!

did you go through shannpn with one of the 3 guys mentioned on the ealier posts? Or you went with whoever picked up the call?

Oh well once again Shannons can't match my just cars quote... they are $200 more expensive. Spoke to Xavier as recommended, he was very helpful but unfortunately couldn't get the price I was after.

However, their excess is only $500, whereas just cars is $1500.

But I don't plan on making a claim (no one ever does I guess).

It's worth noting for those comparing their quoted premium to yours, people should also take into consideration that you are 30 years old.. guys in early or mid 20's may not get such a good deal.

so you'd rather pay $200 less for inferior coverage, with the chance of paying $1k more in excess....

Shannons might be $200 more, but I'd pay that for choice of repairer alone.

    • I can get more photos of it here soon and I plan to make a thread detailing the process. I received the car this way and it sorely needs refinishing. That is probably the most appealing photo of it. Up close it is fading, cracked, and needs to be re-glued. Depending on their condition I'm on the fence between refinishing or making a new set.  Another angle hiding the pimples and razor pumps
    • According to this thread the RS4V with build plate RC40 comes with the R200 diff @ 4.083 ratio as well (mine has said RC40 denotation). We may need to check if the axle stubs are the same pattern as well. The auto subframes have longer axles. However I think yours being a later Series 2 as well, we should have the same bolt pattern for the diff stubs. Unless your upgraded rear also has upgraded axles. Either way, I would not be opposed to pulling the covers to check so I can inspect that  fancy rear core  Also I don't have HICAS. I don't believe that should change things but I hope the people here with heaps more experience than me can correct me if I'm wrong   Let me know if you want to attempt to make this work and I can get some pictures of mine from under the car.
    • It's not that straightforward. For example I have had this code because my ignitor/power transistor wires were unplugged. It knows something is wrong but has no idea what it means. If you want to actually diagnose this I recommend following the service manual flowchart for code 21. Ohm out the harness, coilpacks, inspect the ECU, etc. And again, it's entirely possible for there to be no problem at all but if you're running a different coilpack it'll trigger the code because it doesn't like what it sees.
    • If it (the code) wasn't still current, it should have gone away by itself by now. No, nothing it 10/10. But it is quite likely. Everything else to do with the ignition could still be responsible (which is wires and connectors). The car is an old piece of shit now, so all the wires and connectors are also old pieces of shit.
    • Lock me in mate, although I'm not sure if I'll be heading up from Goulburn or down from Sydney, either way, return will be back to Goulburn
