Just purchased a greddy copy plenum for my r33, for a decent price, it Should arive this week, this week i will prep the unit a little smooth it out a little and take the grooling challenge to prove some things for you guys Ive noticed teazn_33 is doing it and i thought hey bugger it for the price i may as well attempt this one to settle all non believers and also believers out there as there is alot of sceptism out there about these units is there not? I have previous before hand dyno results in my hand here so will be able to do a before after result for this unit. Slide says he has used them successfully so theres another backer for that there is not much wrong with them, Will take photos before during and after the process, will take photos of the before and after dyno graphs.

Boost pressure i will be running will be 16-18 psi varient

Turbo: If you dont know it is the HKS 3037pro s

And this will be with the standard throttle body (First)

I will also keep you people update with problems that i may have or have along the way, I will take photos of Installation and documentation.

This may or may not help for later on the track, And if teazn gets his result first good on him, at least 2 or 3 of this nature is better than all the sceptics out there and stuff floating around.

Last note: I do not want flamming ive heard and seen all that rubbish before hand, im doing this out of my own will and nature, and this will hopefully close some things people have going through there minds

So watch this space. #3week deadline :)

Thankyou very much

Merry Easter

Adam

be good to see if there is a difference because I have the greddy plenum in my car but I did heaps of mods at the same time so I don't know if it made a difference or not.

What size cooler piping are you going to use and are you going to up grade the throttle body size ?? why are ask is because ive upgraded the the size of the piping by like twice its normal size and got a Q45 throttle body and its like 90mm or something and the car is laggy as especially off the line, but when she gets to 4 grand she takes off

Ill be watching this thread to see how you but I think ill have to get the 3.0l bottom end to fix the problem (I Need more cubes)

First step is use the standard throttle, as most people have got these later will move to bigger but not yet want the basics out first, cooler piping well at an estimate with this design shall eliminate almost 2.5 ft of current piping from cooler to tb which is 2.5 inch wide, my power band at the moment would have to say its not laggy at all as good turbo small rear with a .68 a/r rear housing so well starts at less than 2800rpm build to boost by 3500 max at 16 to 18 psi Time frame im hoping after i do a little prep to it most likely 3 weeks to the end of this month. So soon

Cheers A

hey, guys those copy things are cheap but is shit. I bought those few month ago, u need to get some1 to tidy the surface, especially the face that attach to the engine block, is damn rough all around u can c little tiny hole on the top or too much on the bottom. It 100% need to be tidy up b4 u fit, as i tried to save that hundred buck and fitted and start, fuel and air leaking from the intake. Finally i told myself, do it once , do it right so bought the genuine greddy, u can tell the different.

This is the reason why i did buy one so i can prove it to be a ok or not thing, and i didnt say i wasnt going to do a little prep myself  thanks for your input james have a nice day. Oh i have to ask james, where did you buy who off, did you contact them, how did they respond all these little things did you take photos, did you try to clean it up, how did you go. All these little things james, please read at the top ive seen and heard all the sceptic shizen before hand im doing this for a reason, so unless i have useful comments :P please dont comment not to be harsh to people, but you get the general idea ;)

On old thing would be aswell:

If you buy 10 apples and the first one is bad do you throw the rest out and call it a bad batch or do you test to see the other ones are ripe/good? Maybe you may have had the bad one out of the many which are produced, i know first hand that there are many out there that work, and few that dont this is also why i am testing this. Ive done my research i know how to take this challenge on im not a no brainer person :O Thankyou

how hard would u rekon it'll be to modify the stock inlet manifold to a front facing rather than side facing??

u know it bolts up right, all the holes are there, u could possibly go some extra porting, etc. hmmmm.......this is giving me a good idea!

say if u buy a greddy copy for $250, it wouldn't cost you not even close to that figure to get a fabricating company to modify the stock inlet for ya

sorry Devils_Advocate2 im not flamming u or trying to hijack ur thread, but u rekon its possible to do?

The stock inlet is a bastard to modify inn the same style as these ones, and it would cost a lot more then $250

Ive seen that done once, i dont know who by but it would be an absolute prick of a thing to do as there is vacuum lines in the way aswell as you'll have to plug the factory hole up as well, so in excess of 300 plus ill put that down too. plus to re align everything would be a pain aswell

Cheers

This would be one thing ill be looking at in this process as well just may get it flow tested in the process we will see.

The problem most often stated is uneven distribution of air to the cylinders.

Good luck with the trial.

Please do put it on a flow bench and see. I would like to see this one either confirmed or debunked as myth.

FWIW, I'd think it a waste of time if you didn't use your time and make sure it is port matched and tidied up.

Keeping an eye on your progress as well. :stupid:

id like to say to say its good to finally see someone put this to the tests and see actual results not "my auntys dogs cousins sister said that her friends sisters boyfreind tried this and it was crap or......it made 1 million kw on 2psi with this being the only upgrade" lol. will be following your results goodluck

    • Block bump. $400. As above cyl 6 needs bore or sleeve.
    • I would think making the argument that the travel is limited by a spring flexing against a spring perch as "the same method". Later on in the document they do state that the spring can't bind on full bump travel and cannot come loose in full rebound travel as well. (which is all very sensible). The laws are actually pretty sensible and reasonable. It's just that the people who enforce and check them don't actually read them or know them accurately. "Oh, coilovers? Instant fail mate. Don't even need to look at it." - Guy who will be instantly reported by me. There is probably merit to people who do get defected for height also get defected for the suspension in that state that allows it. I did never consider the people who are complaining about coilovers being picked on are also running around at 50mm off the floor.
    • I think given SAU's knowledge of E85 we can strongly conclude that 10% ethanol in almost any situation is entirely fine. Almost all of the myths against E85 were overblown, let alone E10.
    • From your link See bold text, is this referring to damper settings, if so that may a issue for "some" inspectors, I cannot see aftermarket coilovers having the evidence that "must be available that its functional performance is equivalent to the original" Maybe just remove the adjustment knows and hope for the best???? Meh 5.2 Suspension travel In all instances, modifications to a vehicle’s suspension must ensure the integrity of the system and not compromise the ride quality. At least two thirds of the original suspension travel should be maintained in both directions (rebound (i.e. extension) and bump (i.e. compression)), and rebound must be limited by the same method used by the vehicle manufacturer or if this is not practicable due to the nature of the modification, an equivalent method. If an alternative method is used, evidence must be available that its functional performance is equivalent to the original.
    • They actually don't - They adhere to VSB14 rules just like Victoria. The rules are against CABIN adjustable height, and it quite clearly states that the height has to be within parameters. I asked the VASS engineer to confirm this when I got my car engineered and they refused to engineer the coilovers because they didn't meet the requirements for requiring engineering. (mine are height adjustable.) People "Not wanting to bother" with "Actually reading/knowing/adhering to the rules" should result in fines and immediately losing the ability to issue blue slips and/or RWC's in Vic.
