scotsman any chance i could get you to do driver training with me please?

Screw chris, he's a hack probably put you into a wall or something. Could be worse though you could get ryan and in that case you'll end up having to get jack to tow you home because he will have blown up your engine! :laughing-smiley-014:

no way Sandown is scarier than PI!

am I a traitor for wanting to do the Maserati day there the week after instead? heaps less cars than the WRX days usually... I had 10+ laps in every session last time I went... bit pricier than the WRX days tho... hmmm

nick if you go that day I will go with you...I cant go on Wed cos I have to take ppl to the football.

My driver trainer is V8 Supercars 2 on Xbox, did a 59 second lap around Sandown hahaha, wooooooooooooooooo

Been looking through youtube for some incar videos, but most of the cars on there are slow, 1.35-1.40's.....

Wheres some Jack Footage around Sandown when you need it.

Edit: Found this Porsche Cayman S one on google videos, not to bad... still not super fast

Haha - my very first track day way back when I'd been playing V8 Supercars 2 on my PS2 to learn the track and as I hit turn 1 for the 1st time at full speed I was unsure where to brake. But I knew in the game I was braking at the 100m mark and I figured the cars in the game were going faster than me so I guessed 100m was going to be a safe spot for me to start out at.

Luckily for me I didn't also try and test out whether the kink was flat out like it is in the game afterwards.

hahahahah just clocked a 58 second lap.... its crap tho, i'm doing nearly 300k/h before turn 1 from a standing start on the grid!! hahah my arse.

Yeah trying to get my head around the kink at the back about how fast to be taking that, more important to set yourself up for the left hander after it i think....

LOL...Sega Boy! :)

Big thanks to Tom, car has fresh sump of oil, flushed brakes and a tank of V-Power Racing. I also backed off the rear swaybar from the hardest setting to the middle. Roll on Wednesday.

Im going to watch the video footage of my last trip to Sandown. Suss out where is was driving like a girl last time round :(

    • I don't know it is due to that. It could just be due to load on track being more than a dyno. But it would be nice to rule it out. We're talking a fraction of a second of pulling ~1 degree of timing. So it's not a lot, but I'd rather it be 0... Thicker oil isn't really a "bandaid" if it's oil that is going to run at 125C, is it? It will be thicker at 100 and thus at 125, where the 40 weight may not be as thick as one may like for that use. I already have a big pump that has been ported. They (They in this instance being the guy that built my heads) port them so they flow more at lower RPM but have a bypass spring that I believe is ~70psi. I have seen 70psi of oil pressure up top in the past, before I knew I had this leak. I have a 25 row oil cooler that takes up all the space in the driver side guard. It is interesting that GM themselves recommend 0-30 oil for their Vette applications. Unless you take it to the track where the official word is to put 20-50w oil in there, then take that back out after your track day is done and return to 0-30.
    • Nice, looks great. Nice work getting the factory parts also. Never know when you'll need them.
    • Thanks @jtha7 I will have a look around tomorrow but it is a prick of a spot. These are some photos i tried taking
    • I take it that the knock retard is from bearings tapping a little tune? Thicker oil is a fragile bandaid. You need a much bigger oil cooler and probably the bigger pump being discussed.
    • Hi @Chupapy i had several leaks from coolant pipes being corroded, i also had one leak on back of the head onto transmission. For me that leak was from the turbo water line. Follow the line to the back of the head The hose and metal pipe had perished these are the best pics I took of it at the time
