Hi Mitchy

It's so sad to see - that was one awesome ride man.

I can't say anything that hasn't already been said, but it's painful to see something like that happen to someones pride and joy. I'm glad you're okay though and I hope your neck heals up fine.

Cheers mate

Iain

f*k!

these sorta things alway happen to good blokes, like everyone else im sorry to hear about it.

all you parts vaulchers lay off! show the bloke some respect and wait till things are advertised (if they ever will be) before you start calling for parts.

how would you feel if your wheels were written off and you got bulk people asking for your ash tray for eg..

oh fug..... it's a sad day for arrh 33.... it feels no love from the insurance company. I wonder .... could you get the pay out, buy ur car back, and work on it to repair or change the shell or something. and still be leftover with $$? maybe you'd lose money that way... hrmmm...

  • 2 weeks later...

well..insurance has given me payout figure, and i have the option to keep the car + lower payout, or just take the money and run.

reallllllly... i dont want to keep the wreck, unless i can be sure im going to get my money back on it, but then im also willing to keep the wreck, if someone wants to buy the whole thing off me (saves you going to auction, and is probably cheaper too)

so if anyone is willing to buy a substantial amount of it off me, or the whole thing, send me a pm, or sms on 0405 908 860.

i'd like to get 6k for the wreck, which i consider to be a bargain considering its got a brand new, freshly rebuilt RB25 in it, plus other suspension goodies, good condition interior, nardi torino steering wheel, etc etc...

i also have my rims, which werent on the car, and a few other bits and pieces i was about to put on the car (new untuned PFC, new p/s pump and bracket, new a/c comp, hoses and bracket, new turbo, cusco front strut brace, plenum, semi slicks.. lots of crap!)

oh yeah.. ive got some plates for sale too.

how much would you sell the rims for?

and what turbo is it?

actually just get a item and price list up

heres a list of some parts and prices here

dam if i only knew 2 weeks ago i would of bought your car off you :(

damn.. oh well, id like to see someone make use of the brand new RB25 in it.. not go to auction!

Decided to hop back on the forums today after my long absence......... I didn't not expect to read about the 'Mitchy Mobeel's' premature ending...........

Really unfortunate dude....... Only way to look at this is to keep your head up and just start imagining the next beast that you are going to build up!!!!!!!!!

:)

    • Yeah, it's getting like that, my daughter is coming over on Thursday to help me remove the bonnet so I can install the Carbuilders underbonnet stuff,  I might get her to give me a hand and remove the hardtop, maybe, because on really hot days the detachable hardtop helps the aircon keep the interior cool, the heat just punches straight through to rag top I also don't have enough hair for the "wind in the hair" experience, so there is that....LOL
    • Could be falling edge/rising edge is set wrong. Are you getting sync errors?
    • On BMWs what I do because I'm more confident that I can't instantly crush the pinch welds and do thousands of USD in chassis damage is use a set of rubber jacking pads designed to protect the chassis/plastic adapter and raise a corner of the car, place the aforementioned 2x12 inch wooden planks under a tire, drop the car, then this normally gives me enough clearance to get to the front central jack point. If you don't need it to be a ramp it only needs to be 1-1.5 feet long. On my R33 I do not trust the pinch welds to tolerate any of this so I drive up on the ramps. Before then when I had to get a new floor jack that no longer cleared the front lip I removed it to get enough clearance to put the jack under it. Once you're on the ramps once you simply never let the car down to the ground. It lives on the ramps or on jack stands.
    • Nah. You need 2x taps for anything that you cannot pass the tap all the way through. And even then, there's a point in response to the above which I will come back to. The 2x taps are 1x tapered for starting, and 1x plug tap for working to the bottom of blind holes. That block's port is effectively a blind hole from the perspective of the tap. The tapered tap/tapered thread response. You don't ever leave a female hole tapered. They are supposed to be parallel, hence the wide section of a tapered tap being parallel, the existince of plug taps, etc. The male is tapered so that it will eventually get too fat for the female thread, and yes, there is some risk if the tapped length of the female hole doesn't offer enough threads, that it will not lock up very nicely. But you can always buzz off the extra length on the male thread, and the tape is very good at adding bulk to the joint.
    • Nice....looking forward to that update
