Hey all i thaught no better place to ask how much i'd expect to pay to paint a r33 boot lid and drift wing.. i walked into a panel beater just down the road from my place and asked how much to paint a boot and drift wing would cost.. he asked if i was quoted before and i said no... he said $800 to paint it...

I was thinking is that the normal price i'd be expecting from everyone i'd go to? i was wondering if anyone's painted them and wether they paid that much or what the go is?

Thanks heaps everyone!

George

prob about $400-$600 $800 is bullshit concidering a kit costs $1000 to paint

Yea i kinda thaught so... i was a bit stunned when he said that, and then he was saying if i want to blend the wing in with the boot he wont guarantee the work cos apparently it'll crack when i close my boot... oh well.. i just suppose i'll keep looking around :P

I got my guards fitted and painted for $400... and it was fkn hard to fit them..

So I would imagine it'd cost me $150-200 for painting a bootlid and wing since it would be alot easier.

God Dam

whats he useing to paint it with GOLD

By the sounds of it he's just trying to make a few extra bucks,an thinks u no no better

recomend u try some were else

some were around $500 mark is respectibal

i got quoted $400 to respray my whole bootlid in pearl....cutting out and rewelding a rust spot and removing wing and welding up holes...so $800 is bullshit...the fact tht he's asked u if u have been quoted before if proof he's trying to rip you.

yea he seemed like the type of cocksukr that would do that...

now i'd understand paying $400 for what you got done but the fact that i said to him "all i want to do is give you a boot and you spray it.." pissed me off when he said $800 lol I asked him if he'd blend it in for that much with the guards and he said no thats extra LOL

f**k that for a joke... but hey thanks for your help ppl... i might try and get someone that does the work on the side to paint it for me as apposed to going to someone who has to pay over heads and rent and shit... its not a show car after all lol

I got a quote for $450 to cut out rust, change boot locks, remove old spoiler, weld holes and respray.

  • 3 weeks later...

well i got the bootlid and lip done... has anyone had any problems with the drift/stealth wings how they don't line up properly? as in theres a bit of a gap on the left of the boot as apposed to the right...

how much did it cost you?

$190 for the lip/wing and $250 for paint and fit

had that problem, did you get it from psi parts, mine either sat in the middle, or sat nicely on either side with about an inch gap on the other side, i end up and cut and re fibreglass mine

yea dude i did actually, its got a nice gap on the left of it, but i think its gona come off and at least go in the middle cos it looks a bit wierd

way too expensive; whole boot would be $300 - there $450.00 is max IMO

i'm not following what your trying to say...

joe blo - my mate/ panel beater said apparently it was the only way it could sit on the boot without the little lips on the sides sticking up, so he said in about a month or something he's going to re do it, but he said he can't paint over fresh paint cos it gives needs to set properly or something like that...

hey sinista how long would you say it took you to do the cut n shut job on it?

    • Haha, i kow right? Could have bought so many cars for the same amount of money (or less) but driving Unicorn gives you at least +1mln to style 😅. Like wise man said "life's to short to drink cheap wine and drive boring cars" 😉
    • Newbie here, proud owner of an Autech 260RS. I'm on the hunt for wiring diagrams specific to the 260RS, particularly S1. I've ran my eyes through R33, R34 Diagrams, there are some similarities, however continue to find incorrect wire colours and pins on connectors in the 33,34 diagrams.   I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction? I'd be happy to pay for the originals in Japanese. I can translate them, at least they would be accurate.   Any help please would be greatly appreciated, never heard an RB26DETT before let alone driven one, and I've got a spaghetti monster of goodness to sort out.   Cheers Benny
    • Hey all  im wondering if you can help me please I have put a rb20 box in my r34 gtt as my auto packed up and a friend had a spare box I know it’s not ideal but it will get me up and running for now. we have done the conversation and everything is working great but my Speedo we got a s13 speed sensor but my Speedo reads double now and I bought a speed converter but still not having any luck.  so I thought I’ll reach out and pick your brains  any help would be appreciated please as I wanna drive my car again
    • Drain it. I got official Matic D but you can get whatever is listed as Matic D compatible.
    • Thanks guys,  Yeah I should at least have them dynoed, at least then I know what I've got as a starting point.  The springs on these are hard as rocks. I vaguely remember Russman saying he was going to sell the shocks to me with the rocks fitted, as he was keeping the softer springs for his new setup.  I didn't click at the time but of course that was to let me know the shock/spring wouldn't be matched.  I also remember pricing up new springs around 2014-15, but, house, money etc. it never happened. So that was another reason to have them rebuilt. I have rebuilt the forks on many motorcycles so I think I could handle the seals on these easily enough, but getting the valving right would be a rabbit hole I cbf exploring.  Duncan, interesting to hear RP was tuning these back then. I might give them a call.  In the mean time I have been busy fitting sway bars. The Whiteline rear sway bar I purchased 15 years ago finally got fitted, along with the Whiteline front bar that showed up last week. Just waiting on new links for the front sway bar to finish that off.  And my spare set of advan AVS VS5's should be back from the powder coaters in a Pearl White finish sometime this week, with a set of Hankook RS4's lined up for fitting.  And then I just have all the suspension bushes to do. A comprehensive kit is on the way... Lots to do before the Ararat hill climb. Cheers guys 🍻
